We got married in Long Beach, CA on 10/12/24 and all of our guests said Summit's food was THE BEST they had ever been served at a wedding! I cannot recommend Summit Event Catering more! Pamela Aki especially was fantastic to work with. We chose the plated option for a guest count of just under 160 guests. We found the prices to be reasonable as compared to other vendors, and the quality of the menu, ingredients, and overall taste to be outstanding! Additionally, Summit allowed us to make several reasonable alterations to our chosen package, which we were really grateful for, due to several guest allergies, etc! After a year and a half of my company (along with 99% of other companies in the world) operating in a 'new to us' full-time remote environment - we finally had the opportunity to gather in person on a beautiful day in Los Angeles. You would think it would be easy to locate a catering company that needed and wanted the business, but let me tell you....it was a challenge. Finally Google and Yelp prevailed and Summit Event Catering popped up in my searches. Naturally i had about 3 weeks to plan a small corporate event for about 25 individuals. We expected to get something simple like a hot dogs and hamburgers BBQ. Once Summit came into the picture, our expectations were beyond met and exceeded. Not only was my event coordinator, Neda extremely attentive, friendly, present and responsive - she gave me everything i needed to make this event a huge success. Aside from Neda and Jackie ensuring my every need was attended to, THEY BROUGHT THEIR OWN KITCHEN! We weren't subjected to "banquet" style foods that sat in warming trays for 3 hours. We had a Chef ONSITE cooking for my team! there was even this mini wall to conceal the cooking activities, but naturally we all wanted to "take a peak" and watch this go down! Filet mignon - delicious and cooked to a perfect med-well. Salmon - so tender and juicy steamed veggies - they weren't soggy! they we a perfect al dente Poke appetizer - so fresh! potato croquettes - crispy, cheesy and oh so yummy! candied bacon - I mean, who ever complains about bacon?? One of my employees wanted an entire plate of it! To the point where one of the servers always approached him before pulling the tray for a fresh snack. Even my CEO's kiddos in attendance loved the chicken fingers and fries that were made for them! If all of Summit's event staff are as amazing as the team that served my team and I, you're in perfect hands! Neda even assisted us in finding a local traveling bartender to serve at our event as well as a last minute connection have additional tables and chairs delivered and setup for us. I just had to sit and watch everyone put everything in place and tear it down, I didn't need to panic that something wasn't getting done. I relaxed and had a glass of wine while everyone else did the heavy lifting. The icing on the cake is that a few days post-event, the owner of the company had called to see if i had any feedback to provide on our event. In all the years I've hosted and organized events - the most I have ever gotten was an automated email requesting my thoughts and a 1-10 score to provide. Clearly the owner of this company wants to ensure his team is carrying out his vision. I am SO happy my husband and I found Summit Events to cater our wedding. We worked directly with Veronica she was extremely responsive, made sure we were taken care of, worked with our budget to give us our dream menu, she even helped us find our actual reception venue! We had the perfect wedding for us and it wouldn't have happened without Veronica! Service: First of all, they are pros - extremely professional and punctual. We were already sold at the tasting (which is amazing, make sure you go with an empty stomach because they FEED you) but on the day of it was even more magical. The servers catered to our every need. We had a little over 200 guests, plated service. Summit provided just the right level of attentiveness: not overbearing/breathing down your necks like some servers can tend to be, and not too silent in the background where you'd notice their absence, it was simply perfect. The service was seamless! Pricing: Like all couples, my husband and I were on a budget. We explained to Veronica what our perfect wedding menu would be if we had all the money in the world and she helped us come up with a menu that not only fit our vision but didn't break the bank! She was patient, respectful, and just a great friend to us throughout the entire process Now the most important part.. the food: ABSOLUTELY FREAKIN DELICIOUS. Everything that we had at the tasting was so good, it was partly the reason why we took so long finalizing our menu! Portion size is huge and they make sure your guests do not leave hungry. Here are some of the main components of our wedding menu: Tray passed hor d'oeuvres: Coconut Beer Battered Shrimp with a tangerine mustard sauce, Marinated Steak Skewers with a black peppercorn sauce, and Tomato Soup Shooters with a mini grilled cheese topper. Main Course: Chicken Madeira w/ potatoes au gratin and green beans sauteed in brown butter and topped with almonds. We hired the Summit Catering team for our 14 person MicroWedding on Halloween in Newport Beach. First off, the initial pre-wedding tasting at their test kitchen was so fun where we tasted our way through their vast array of menu items. At the actual Microwedding event, all of the food was delectably delicious! My daughter wanted a special wedding on the coast and selected the Point Vicente Interpretive Center, an amazing location. The key to her special day was the catering. Words cannot express the spectacular performance by Summit Event Catering! The service, food and presentation was better than perfect, it surpassed even my high expectations. A good time was had by all and her special day was a huge success thanks to Summit! I can't tell you how many compliments we received about the catering. I made several attempts to contact Veronica to inquire about catering for my wedding since Summit Catering was highly recommended by my venue. She never called or emailed back after i left two voicemails. I called the general number and the person I spoke to informed me that I would have to speak with Veronica as she is the representative who covers our venue. To not even get a call back or be able to get a quote is just bad business. *This review is based solely on my initial interaction and not on the food* I reached out to Summit about 3-4 months ago, and received an email back from Pam. She asked me some details about my future wedding and I promptly responded with the information. I never heard back from her. I was at the early stages of my planning so I didn't follow up until about a week ago. She apologized for not responding but said they were booked for tastings for the next few weeks. I asked to be put on a waiting list. I received a call about attending someone else's wedding to try the food since we couldn't come in for a tasting soon. This really put a bad vibe on things. She said it wouldn't be during their ceremony but I still wouldn't feel right doing that to someone, let alone have that happen at my wedding. This was communicated to both Pam and her assistant. Fast forward to this week when I receive another email about an opening on Thursday for a tasting (an opening that only became available due to them overbooking events). I responded and asked for details. She said she would be emailing me all the details the next day. It is now Thursday (2 days later and the day of the tasting) and I have not received an email or phone call with any details. I emailed her yesterday morning, asking for the details again and never received a response. Funny enough, another bride who was also emailed about the opening called me today, thinking I worked for Summit, and she too was asking for details about today's tasting, since she never heard back. The lack of professionalism, courtesy, and communication is what ultimately led to this review. My fiancé and I decided it would be best to move forward with another caterer, as we don't want to hire someone who doesn't communicate with clients. My husband and I have gushed that the cost of our wedding coordinator was completely worth it, solely because she connected us to Summit Catering. Our sales rep, Veronica, was incredible and put together the perfect menu for our day. We were having a Sunday brunch wedding and we wanted to accommodate our guests by serving a delicious and filling meal that was appropriate for mid-day. We came to our first tasting with some ideas in mind (pastries for cocktail hour, chicken & waffles for the entree buffet) and Veronica ran with those ideas, suggesting side dishes, additions, sauces, drinks and details that fit our theme AND our budget. The day of, the Summit team was incredible. They did a beautiful job of setting up in some tight spaces and displayed all the food in a convenient and pretty way. They were very efficient getting our guests through the buffet but best of all, THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. Many of our guests came up to us saying it was the best wedding food they had ever had. We completely agreed. As for service, the staff was so friendly and professional. They joked with our guests and catered to us in an amazing way - refreshing our plates a few times when we let our food get cold while talking to friends and family. I attended a wedding reception that was catered by Summit. There were passed hors d'oeuvres : miniature chicken and waffles, Beef sliders, roast beef on toast with horseradish dressing, miniature grilled cheese bites served with tomato soup in mini cups. Every single item was delicious! The dinner menu: Salad starter: a mixed spring greens with feta cheese crumbles, toasted sugared pecans, crispy pancetta , sliced red pear, and a creamy black mustard & balsamic vinaigrette. Main entree: Sake and soy marinated Escolar with boneless braised short rib, served with scalloped potatoes /porcini mushroom and miniature vegetables. Delicious and a very satisfying version of surf and turf! There was a self serve station for iced tea, hot coffee and cucumber infused water. So refreshing! Dinner service started with a bit of a hiccup: our salads arrived at table completely UN-dressed. But the servers were quick to come back with all the ingredients for us to pass at the table. I guess that was the best way for dealing with the snafu considering the number of party guests. After this snafu, service went pretty smoothly (and deliciously!) The wedding cake was served to all the guests too: a delicious very moist white cake with fresh strawberries and French cream. read more

5 is not enough stars for how AMAZING Summit is! I was frustrated in my search for a caterer for our unique geek-chic wedding. Not only did we want to incorporate a Star Wars theme to our food, but we wanted "breakfast for dinner" - waffles, bacon, omelet bar... the works. After talking to several caterers who just didn't get it, or even worse, tried to talk me out of it... the heavens opened up and brought me to Veronica at Summit. From the minute I started talking with her, I KNEW this was our catering company. Not only did she understand completely what we wanted, but she was SO EXCITED to work with us on every piece of it. From the menu to decor ideas, from KILLER appetizers (people are still talking about them) to our wedding pie for dessert (not a slice left), she worked with us to go beyond our wildest dreams of what our day could be, and somehow managed to keep it all in budget. Veronica even helped to manage our rentals to make sure everything was covered. And her team! They designed gorgeous and creative Star Wars-themed name cards for each item on the buffet, and the ham carving station server dressed up as a Jedi! They really went all out in every way imaginable. And every single person who helped with and/or attended our event was professional, fun and super sweet. And did I mention the food? HANDS DOWN the most delicious food we tasted. Everything is delicious and impeccable quality.
