Sergio catered my housewarming/birthday party for around 50 people and the food was AMAZING, especially the al pastor. We chose three proteins - asada, carnitas and al pastor. The al pastor was definitely the star of the night. Everyone was raving about them and I found out one of my guests actually had TEN tacos hahaha. They were that freakin' good. I also had some vegans attend the event, so they made grilled vegetable tacos for my vegan friends! Loved that they had that option. Had a great experience hiring Mexicali Grill. Ruben was very punctual and always responded to our messages right away. I had my Babyshower for around 70 people and had carne asada, chicken, al pastor and quesadillas. We also had horchata and Jamaica with all the taco fixings. Food was delicious and we received a lot of compliments from our guests. My favorite was the marinated chicken...yum! We had leftovers so they left all the goodies with us. Ruben was the only one that showed up which I thought it would be 2 guys but he did an excellent job. He was very patient and nice. A little overdue, but we hired Mexicali Grill to cater to 70 guests for a baby shower at the park, and would definitely use them again! They were patient and responsive to any questions I had and booking them was easy. While they usually have 2 people working the day of, it turned out only "Little Sergio" as he called himself, was the only one able to make it. In response, he arrived 1.5 hours early to accommodate the last minute change of having to work solo to make sure the food and everything was set up by the event start time. I mean, talk about professionalism and what a great first impression! Little Sergio was courteous, polite, and patient with all the guests from start to finish. Even on this particular hot day, in the middle of a heat wave, he was dedicated to providing excellent service! As for the food, it was delicious! The meats were seasoned perfectly and the salsas, onions/cilantro, and rice and beans were all tasty. My favorite - the al pastor! It was one of the best I've had. This is a Taco Catering business located @ Los Toros Market in El Monte, CA. They gave me 3-4 meat choices, including tortillas, rice, beans, salsa, cilantro, onions, guacamole, paper plates and napkins. For 50 people (minimum required) they charged me $350 for 3 hours. They leave all the food with you when they are done. They set up 1 hour prior (not included in the 3 hours). I'm a vegetarian and they had no problem making me some papas & onions for my tacos!!! We hired them for my daughter's party. We called some other people and they were booked or not that friendly/ cooperative on the phone. I found these guys on Yelp and it was super easy to book. A phone call and a couple of texts and we were all set. They showed up on time and the food went down well with my guests. We paid for 40 people and about 40 showed up. We had a bunch of left-overs which we left with family. The price was also the lowest we found and we got 4 meats. Most other people just provide three types. It was also nice that they cook in the yard. Some taco guys cook it at their place and just bring the cooked meat with them in foil containers. read more

This is for the restaurant and not the catering business. I ordered a torta--it was delicious--and a michelada. The "michi" was not that great...in fact, they should stop selling it. I only came in to try it because they advertised selling them outside, but when I arrived inside--the cashier didn't even know what to charge me for one! Apparently they aren't very popular here. I would give it a 5 star if not for that bad michi. Good service though, and very friendly people. I will return just for the food. read more

I read the reviews on yelp and sounded too good to be true. So I went to their restaurant/market (think it was called el toro). Tried the tacos and I would say they're just about the best tacos I've ever had! I tried chicken, carne Asada, and Al Pastor. They were all delicious, not gristly and greasy, but moist, tender and extremely flavorful. I IMMEDIETLY walked next door to the market and booked them for my daughter's party. Although you can request other meats too and they cook the meats right on the spot for you too. They bring a wide variety of options to put on your tacos such as guac and salsas. I recommend you also tell them to bring cheese because they can make one hell of a quesadilla. The employees are one of the nicest and hard working people I know. They will work in any kind of weather conditions and they WILL make long trips if they have too. If the amount of people served is too large they will even bring another grill.
