One of the adjustments my wife and I made for our wedding in the time of Covid was forgoing the traditional reception. Instead we decided to offer our guests to-go meals for after the ceremony. We decided to reach out to, Yakiya, one of our favorite restaurants thinking it was a long shot but that they might be able to provide us with their bento. Fortunately the restaurant is part of the Panda Group and the staff put us in touch with Adam, Panda Catering's business development manager. Adam was responsive, friendly, and super helpful. He was quick to answer questions, turned around our a proposal in 24 hours, willing to accommodate last minute changes and even delivered the bentos personally. This review is for our wedding that happened 2 years ago, but friends and family still talk about how good the food is and that puts other typical caterers to shame. The tasting was offered for a fee before committing to a contract and it does cost a bit of money per person to do the tasting. During this pandemic, I was able to find Panda Inn who offers catering services with different package option. I opted for the individually packed meals for my son's drive-by birthday celebration. I communicated with Adam Yu of Panda Inn and he is very accommodating and easy to work with. I keep changing the number of packed meals order but he was so nice and patient. Having banquet food at our wedding was the single, biggest request parents from both sides made, so my husband and I definitely felt the pressure to impress them and their esteemed guests. We heard only great things about Panda Catering from our venue, with which Panda Catering is a preferred vendor, and DJ/MC. One of the challenges we faced when planning was finding quality Chinese or Vietnamese banquet food that caters off-site, had a contact person we could communicate with, and was within our budget. Yikes! Enter Adam. He made a fantastic first impression with us when he was prompt in his replies. Time was of the essence for us, as we were planning from northern California, and we wanted to secure the best catering possible for a busy wedding season in July. Adam was very patient as he answered all our questions, and he was very flexible when we requested to change our menu three times. Panda Catering allows you to mix and match dishes from different menus to create the best fit for the couple, which we highly appreciated. Well, well. This was a wonderful experience we had with Panda Catering and of course Adam. From my first inquiry until the last champagne was emptied, Adam and his crew made sure we had a good time. We were planning our totally informal reception at this cool downtown brewery, and wanted to have a caterer for the food. Unfortunately the brewery didn't allow for open flames, so Adam couldn't bring in his chef to cook on sit. My wife and I got married April 6, 2019 at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Palos Verdes. Panda Catering really helped the night come together and make it a wonderful party for everyone. At many weddings the food is forgettable but Panda Catering offers something a bit different while being delicious and is very reasonably priced for the high level of quality and service you get. We worked with Adam, who is was absolutely amazing. From his first phone call, to scheduling the tasting, work with our other vendors, planning for the event, and execution on the day of, he was always on it. This was no problem and Adam was able to have his team cook at a local Panda Express and finish the food in the kitchen facility at our venue. This did not diminish the final product. Our guests loved the food and many went back for additional servings and took leftovers home. During the site visit and planning, Adam was the first person to arrive and was very hands when checking on set up. He was always quick to help and offer up Panda's service and was really committed to making sure the event went well. Going into the wedding people kept saying we wouldn't have time to eat but staff members were specifically directed to get us food and come and serve it to us. I have never stepped in to a Panda Inn before my wedding. Luckily, we found some reviews online and decided to set up a food tasting. The food to service at the restaurant was excellent. Adam was the perfect coordinator to deal with. The question was, when were we going to come back to dine at the restaurant again? How many times have you frequented an Asian restaurant with good food, bad service. Panda Inn is the opposite. Rarely would I use the word "Amazing" and that is how strongly I feel about my experience with Panda Inn catering for my wedding. I did buffet style and seen the downfalls from messy food trays, running out of food, running out of popular items, cold food, etc. Panda has their process locked down and total efficiency. They foresee all of the major problems. Panda can set up a pop up kitchen and cook fresh on site. I don't know how many Asian food catering events that I have been to with cold food. Fresh food makes all the difference. At the wedding, so many guests gave us compliments how good the food was and some mentioned it was the best, others even better than some very popular Asian restaurants. The pop up kitchen itself was an impressive sight to see. Asians and non Asians informed us they were going to Panda Express the next week, but we had to tell them, it's Panda Inn baby! My parents gave me so much sh$t for having an outdoor wedding where it was a more "Do-it-yourself" venue. Although it came out perfect, they still were stuck on their mind set, Asian banquet would have been so much easier and cheaper, yada, yada...but one thing they could not deny, the food was excellent. After the night came to an end and most of our guests had left, the Panda Inn staff was still there making sure everything was left the way it was before they got there. All of our guests had LOVED the food. There wasn't a sign of an unsatisfied appetite after a diverse and spectacular 10-course meal with two desserts on the menu. Any leftovers were boxed up nicely and given to our guests to take home. I could really go on forever with the amount of good things I could say about Adam and the Panda Inn. Truth is, no amount of words typed can express our thankfulness to them. Without them, our wedding would not be possible. It's quite ironic that my review for a food establishment had little mention of how great the food was. Don't get me wrong, THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! But in this case, the level of customer service and satisfaction was what won our hearts over and the great tasting food was just a bonus. AMAZING! We went to a wedding at a private residence a few weeks ago and were so impressed with the food and bar service that we asked for the catering company's name. We were surprised that the wedding for over 300 guests was catered by Panda Catering (who knew that the makers of Panda Inn and Panda Express had a catering company?). The event was beautiful. There were multiple bars set up, a shrimp cocktail and oyster buffet and tray passed appetizers during cocktail hour, and the sit down meal (about 7 courses?) was delicious! We had such delights as Bluefin Ahi Poke, Sweet Abalone Crudo, Ginger Garlic King Crab (my personal favorite), Braised Wagyu Short Ribs (my husband's favorite), and Misoyaki Butterfish. They even had a shaved snow station with fruits and mochi toppings for dessert in addition to the yummy wedding cake! Having just planned our own wedding, my husband and I noticed the little things that the Panda Catering staff did that our caterer didn't. All night long, everywhere we turned, there seemed to be a staff member ready to serve/help and we never had to ask for a refill of water or wine (a must for a successful event, in my opinion). During cocktail hour, it seemed like we were constantly offered an appetizer or glass of wine or specialty drink. This is a top notch catering company with impeccable service and memorable food. Wow wow wow. So my husband and I had to cancel our wedding with our venue due to Covid. The thought of having to find a new venue and new vendors made me sick, so I asked my boo to let me know who he'd like to cater. He had been going to panda inn since he was young so that was his top choice. Once we decided to have a smaller wedding at our family home in Pasadena, we realized it would be feasible to choose our own caterer and spoke with our planner to make it happen. We were mainly in contact with Adam, he was so organized and helpful throughout the planning process. It was unreal. He came by the house weeks in advance to check his space and provide recommendations. He was honest about how much food we should order so we didn't over do it and his staff was SO professional. We were so happy with the choice to go with Panda Inn, we had never been to a wedding that served Asian food and being one of our favorites, it really fit our day well. They set up a kitchen and even had the appropriate materials to cover up the driveway so we had no issue with oil spills or anything like that. The food was hot cause they cooked it on site and our appetizers were delicious. I loved how flexible and understanding they were. Adam Yu, Katrina and the whole Panda Catering team are THE ULTIMATE BEST! Look no further. Seriously. Too bad they could have not planned the whole event, as our wedding planner and venue were a nightmare; things would have gone much more smoothly if the Panda team was in charge. Our wedding was @ Malibu Rocky Oaks, a very obnoxiously strict and logistically complicated, space. EVERYTHING from linens to kitchen equipment had to be brought in and this was no challenge for Adam and his team. They went above and beyond the scope of their work by coming to our home to pick up our alcohol and even helped move chairs from the ceremony space to the reception (which were flights of stairs) to help us save money! Hiring Panda was the best decision we made. From the early stages of planning, our initial meetings, emails, tastings all were white glove service. Adam ensured that every element of our event was perfect. Adam thought of things we neglected and was always providing us with cost-effective options, which is rare in the wedding scene. Next, the food. The food was OUTSTANDING. People were so excited to have something other than "traditional" wedding food and were blown away by the caliber and quality of food we served - it was soooo delicious. 5 stars is an understatement! I am so happy that my husband and I chose Panda Catering for our wedding. The entire time is incredibly professional. There was constant communication from them, which helped ease a lot of wedding prep stress. My husband and I are already thinking about when we can use them again. My wedding decorator was less than professional, and on the wedding day, the Panda team really pulled it together. They filled in the gaps that the decorator left wide open. Mila and Jack are amazing. They are always friendly, and they are constantly overseeing everything during the wedding to make sure that everyone is pleased. On the day of our wedding, my husband and I could not stop thanking them enough. They cook on-site, so the food was incredibly fresh. The orange chicken was the best orange chicken that I have ever eaten. Everyone was telling us that they loved the food that we had at the wedding. Mila even color coordinated the fortune cookies for our wedding! The color was dark purple, and all of the fortune cookies were wrapped in dark purple wrapping. Talk about crossing T's and dotting I's... Panda was EXCEPTIONAL at our wedding. If you're looking for delicious and affordable Chinese food for your event, LOOK NO FURTHER. Considering the quality of food, quality of service, and all the extra services and supplies that they offer, hiring Panda Catering is one of the best things to do for your event and the smartest for your wallet. The days leading up to the event were so hectic, but with lots of help from their amazing staff, we were able to pull it off. Responsive, diligent, highly organized, and thorough--Annie was a MIRACLE. She was the one that handled and coordinated our event. I honestly believe that everything came together as beautifully and as seamlessly as it did especially because of her. Not only was the food absolutely delicious (we barely got to eat, but received compliments all night!) but they provided the most impeccable service imaginable. We couldn't have asked for better. Adam and Kelly were absolutely top notch. We had our wedding at the Eagle Rock Center for the Arts which by no stretch of the imagination is a tricky venue to cater into. But Panda Inn Catering went above and beyond, working with our site manager at the venue to somehow get an onsite kitchen out there to cook all of our food fresh, as well as going so far as to contact the city to get the parking in front of the venue blocked off for ease of not just their work, but our other vendors as well. And I haven't even gotten to talk about the food and place settings. The food was amazing and plentiful, helping us dodge that number one wedding concern, making sure everyone is fed and happy. The basil chicken and asparagus was amazing, and both Adam and Kelly were on site the entire event making sure personally that everything went smoothly. Props to our server Jason for making sure the glasses never went dry as well. The guests were raving about the food to us all night. Can't forget the custom chocolate dipped fortune cookies, which was an added bonus. We even got to pick the fortunes. This was actually my second time working with Panda Catering for an event and they knocked it out of the park both times. For our holiday lunch earlier this month, they provided the full service: catering, rental coordination, staffing, and decoration. We actually went with a Thai-inspired buffet, instead of the typical Chinese food that you would expect from Panda, and everything turned out delicious! We had about 110 guests and I only heard positive reviews on the food. November-December is always a busy time of year in my office, so it took a big weight off my shoulders knowing that I could depend on Adam. He always got back to me right away (even if it was to say that he's in a meeting, but he'll call me when he's done). read more
