Adam is the face of Panda Catering. He did a fantastic job of helping me plan for a small dinner gathering for our organization. We had 16 guests and ordered party trays along with a server, Mike, who was also excellent. Communication with Adam via phone, text, and email was very efficient. Adam responded in a timely manner and displayed professional care and courtesy throughout our communications. He even alerted me to the fact that I was ordering too much food and gave me great guidance on the menu. Annie was walking us through everything, and she is always enthusiastic, diligent, and just fantastic. We, of course, decided to have Panda cater our wedding, and it was amazing. I 100% agree with every single 5 star rating here. It's almost shocking to see Adam's name in all of the reviews because it felt like my wedding was the only one he worked and focused on. I don't want to repeat everything that's already been said but I want to stress the fact that Adam and his team are more than just your average catering team. They actually enjoy and take pride in what they do. Our guests definitely notice their high standards for food and service. We received SO many compliments on the food. Favorites included the honey walnut shrimp, sauteed scallops, and ESPECIALLY the chilean sea bass. On top of that, Adam, Annie, and their team went above and beyond as a caterer. Not only did they cook and serve food, Adam and Annie helped us out in SO many ways. I almost don't even want to mention how they helped us because I feel like what they offered us had absolutely nothing to do with catering and was completely out of their scope of work. Every time I mentioned a detail about my wedding, they were so quick to offer their help even if it wasn't food or drink related. For example, we asked if they could use our "logo" at the top of the menu. What we didn't expect was that their design team completely customized our menu to fit the look and feel of our wedding. 'Fancy Panda' was a huge hit at our wedding and we would definitely recommend Adam and his team for your wedding day! Highlights: -We worked with Adam and his team for several months and he was always easy to communicate with and was accommodating in meeting our expectations and budget constraints. He is super friendly and able to work with both English and Mandarin speaking clients (and parents =D)! -The quality and taste of our menu were outstanding! My only regret is that I never got to eat more during the wedding (typical =p) even though Adam's team was so good that they supplied our Sweetheart table with more than enough food. Don't expect them to serve some form of upgraded Panda Express food; this is some legit Chinese food! I was even tempted to ask Adam if they could serve some Orange Chicken as appetizers LOL. -We received outstanding service for our 120 guest wedding including: setup and tear down at our venue, dietary accommodations, and coordination with our wedding planner. -Adam helped coordinate a boba station at our wedding that had guests running for the dessert table! Panda went above and beyond what we paid them to do. If a wedding caterer could be your best friend, your helpful assistant, your #1 cheerleader, Nicole Cherng would be it. She is their event manager, and she is the most coordinated, friendly, helpful, sweet, thoughtful, organized, attentative wedding catering manager you could ever hope for. The food, service, set-up and so many other things worked out beautifully just because of her and her team. The hubby and I are both Chinese American, so obviously, so are our families. What does that mean? It means that, apart from the joy of seeing your two babies getting hitched and your two families becoming one forever, FOOD is the most important part of the wedding. And it better be delicious and plentiful. We wanted an outdoor garden wedding, so far outside of Chinese tradition that paying homage to our culture by serving Chinese food was pretty much a requirement. Panda is, IMO, the ONLY caterer capable of cooking delicious on-site Chinese food in LA, Ventura County, and the OC. We met up with Nicole & team the following week, and were served a couple of the dishes that we were contemplating. Everything was delicious, and they were courteous, friendly, and polite. They gave us a pamphlet detailing all the different varieties of catering that they had done so far, and their standard Chinese banquet menu options. We told them our absolute budget of $9500 for 200 guests, and they didn't even bat an eye. Over the next few months, I emailed Nicole almost at least once a week, and between the translated menu options they gave us, the two sets of parents, and our Chinese American tastebuds, we finalized a menu. It ran the gamut from steamed fish, honey walnut shrimp, Chinese soup, crispy duck, braised short ribs, traditional dessert soups, and more. We brought both families together for our private food tasting, and everyone, including the restaurant-savvy dad-in-law who had waitered his fair share of Chinese fine dining, agreed that it was good food. Nicole took super detailed notes of how we wanted each dish tweaked (i.e. slice the gai choy thinner) and worked with us via phone and email to revise the menu and fine-tune service and set-up details. By the time we were done, I was absolutely in love with the menu and the hubby went starry-eyed just at the mention of his favorite menu dishes. This is where what we expected them to do for us stopped and where they started going above and beyond. Rentals: We were considering using really nice disposables for the wedding to save money, but our wedding coordinator encouraged us to consider using real dishes and glassware instead. Nicole offered to see what she could do about rentals, and gave us an amazing price for a complete set of dinnerware for each person, as well as the coffee maker, hot water/coffee urns, and cold drink dispensers. Cocktail Hour Food and Wedding Drinks: We didn't have enough $ to cater the cocktail hour or wedding drinks, so our wedding party pitched in. We didn't expect Panda to help us out with either item since we weren't paying them to, but Nicole and our best man emailed back and forth and spent time on the phone talking about food safety procedures, how to set-up the dishes, and how to transport them. Nicole then reached out to us a couple weeks before the wedding when we were trying to figure out how to safely transport everything to the 1.5hr-away venue and offered to both store, transport and set-up the drinks for us. She even offered to mix in the bubbly parts of the drinks on the day of so that we wouldn't have to worry about any of it. Talk about amazing service and help. Dessert Wagon: We opted for a cupcake stand with multiple other dessert options instead of a traditional wedding cake. In the midst of the insanity of trying to plan way too many details for the wedding, the fact that desserts need a place to rest on in order to be beautifully presented completely slipped my mind. Tupperware didn't match what I was envisioning! I frantically emailed Nicole a couple of days before the wedding, asked her to add on some rentals for the desserts, and she 1) printed out beautiful tags for all the drinks & desserts with our fonts/logos, 2) got us beautiful trays & stands for each dessert, and 3) worked with our coordinator to set up a breathtaking display. See pictures! Menu switcheroos: We switched out some of the vegetables for a mango walnut salad, got their delicious white-chocolate covered fortune cookies, and got half portions of two dessert soups we loved. You truly get what you/your guests want. The day of the wedding, the food was delicious, the servers were cheerful and courteous, and everything magically came together. We even got our own to-go bag for the hotel room. So if you're looking for someone to cater Chinese or Asian-fusion for that awesome wedding or event of yours, I can tell you that Panda is a choice you will never, ever regret. read more

I am writing this review for a wedding that took place back in September 2013, I was a guest and had the luck of enjoying the fruitful pleasures of someone elses' planning. :) I want to say that the wedding planning was executed well and that I throughly enjoyed every bit of the evening that was put together but this review is about Panda so lets continue on. The wedding was done very tastefully and I definitely felt that Panda Catering had molded that experience. The evening started with a bar set-up featuring a "his and hers" drink, open bar, and plenty of hor d'oeuvres being circulated by servers pre-reception. We were impressed with the presentation of the Eggplant Lotus, Crispy Shrimp Roll and Tea Smoked Duck Bun. I wish I had taken photos. For dinner, the bar had moved to an indoor location and continued serving drinks throughout. A set menu was placed on our table noting the dishes that were to be served for the evening so that I was able to section off my stomach for what was to come. :) In a timely manner we were served with Honey Walnut Shrimp, Cubed Filet Mignon, Ginger Scallion Lobster, Miso Sea Bass, Baby Bok Choy w/Shitake and a few more dishes. The servers were very attentive to our requests and even brought drink orders to our tables. Details, details, details. Each dish was made very well and the small details really made the difference. As a guest, I highly recommend anyone looking for a catering company and after reading Minh's review, I have a better appreciation for what they do to cover all bases. THE BEST. EVER. I had Panda cater my recent outdoor wedding. Planning a wedding can be such an ordeal and with the amount of DIY I had planned in the final weeks- I was a complete mess. The only constant thing I had total confidence in was Nicole (the catering manager) and the Panda team. From the initial meeting, I knew we were in great hands. Nicole was attentive and the food blew us away. It's not the flowers or your dress or the photo booth people remember - it's the FOOD. Coupled with the most amazing team and I don't know why you're still reading this and not contacting Panda NOW. Now our venue was outdoors with no access to a kitchen, and I've watched enough Top Chef to know this can't be good. BUT! With Panda, it was EASY BREEZY FANTASTIC. They swooped in, erected a kitchen and the food was restaurant quality. Nicole was beyond amazing to work with. She's super responsive, raised questions and voiced concerns that never would have crossed my mind. She requested anything I neglected to send it her way. Many times I even felt she was more on top of my wedding than me! She's really great at working with you on your menu to make it truly unique and within your budget. They really are there for you and aims to please their clients. I can't rave enough about Panda. I owe them so much for executing our most memorable night. There are no words to describe the priceless gift Adam and his team, Katrina & all involved, gave us; a piece of mind and I never once stressed about anything. I won't go into detail the amazing, flexible, backwards bending, texts, emails, calls that were immediately returned for months on end. Actually, I emailed him at midnight thinking it will get returned the next day but he immediately emailed me back.. at midnight and we kept emailing each other back! Thus when we met, my fiancé & I hired Panda Catering on the spot. While we were so blessed with all our vendors, even our other vendors, venue, noted how amazing Adam + team were. I'm a very anxious, worried, micro planner but with the wedding, I hired amazing people who were great at their jobs and it showed. I didn't worry too much about anything. For the reception, everyone raved about how amazing the food was. "It was the best wedding food I ate." Even the DJ said it was the best team he worked with and wanted to use their catering for future events. Also, he fed the venue staff because why not? They were so, extremely in awe of his amazing staff. He was great in his advice, great in everything. Beyond blessed and lucky to have found them. Panda Catering in my opinion has to be one of the best vendor I've ever worked with. When I got engaged about a year ago, I knew right away that I wanted traditional banquet for my wedding, but I didn't want to have it at a Chinese restaurant. Since I live in San Diego, there was no such caterer, and I had to reach out to LA vendors. There were really two options, and one of them was Panda. I reached out to Adam and he was super responsive. Gave me a call right away to discuss, and from the first call, I could tell that he is super experienced and attentive to his customers. And the best thing about Panda was that they do business with big or small clients. I was only planning for a wedding of 50-60, and they didn't turn us away because our guest count was small or was our wedding too far for them. Long story short, the whole planning process with Adam and his team was amazing, efficient, and calming. And the best part was that the food was super delicious. All our guest, including our parents were surprised that we found a caterer that does Chinese banquet at an outdoor venue. At the end of the night, all our guest kept telling us the food was great! I really wish I had a chance to eat more. If you are looking for a caterer to have weddings in LA or San Diego, I highly recommend Panda, because Adam and his team are wonderful and super professional. I recently got married 2 months ago (9/20/2014) I knew I wanted Chinese food for our wedding and my cousin referred me to panda inn. I was surprised that they catered weddings and other events. I am so happy we went with them. Mila (the manager) is the best person to work with. She's professional, hard-working, organize, and truly wants what's best for our wedding. Our wedding was held at studio 11 (production studio/warehouse.) Mila did all the arrangements with my other venues. I did not need to worry about anything because she took care of it and was on top of it. Now to the food....everyone loved it. We had chicken lettuce wrap, spicy beef salad, orange chicken, honey walnut shrimp, fish fillet with veggies, stir fry veggies, pork chow mein, rice and chocolate covered fortune cookies! Price for all that food was very reasonable! I think $25/person. I highly recommend panda inn not only because of the food but because Mila is one of the best people to work with. All I have to say is...Adam Yu and his team are amazing! They catered our wedding on February 15, 2020 at Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden in Pasadena. He was on top of every detail, and went above and beyond for us during the planning process and the day of our wedding. Adam is heavily involved- he got to the venue before our coordinator did! He was quite the contrast to Mary Yang, our coordinator from Blossom Events. Positive, great energy, and incredibly easy to talk to and always available to help. He is always willing to work with you and provide suggestions/alternatives when faced with a problem. Panda Catering's team, led by Adam, was phenomenal to work with! I had the opportunity to work with them over the weekend when I coordinated a wedding at the Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton. Prior to the wedding, we had a planning meeting that was thorough and thoughtful. They were always on top of email correspondences, which I have to say, is something not all wedding vendors are great with. On the wedding day, Panda brought a full outdoor kitchen setup to prepare a 10 course Chinese banquet meal and trained the golf course's staff on proper setup & service technique and familiarized them with the menu items. Simply Amazing. Ever since the start, we booked our event 11 months in advance, Adam was right there with us. Adam has a unique skill for catering and event planning. He helped us stay as stress free as possible and kept in contact with us the entire time. His team, Annie and Katrina, and others were just as amazing. They were on point throughout the process. The food was amazing and high class. I received so many complements from our guests that this was the best wedding food they ever had. Everything is cooked fresh in a kitchen they bring. The service is amazing. The best thing I did was schedule catering with them. They go above and beyond to make you happy. For example, I chose to supply my own alcohol and unfortunately mid-way through the wedding I ran out of Hennessy. I was freaking out, Adam calmly said "don't worry about a thing, I saw that it was getting low and sent one of my servers to go buy you more bottles." PANDA CATERING MADE OUR WEDDING A CULINARY HIT! I'm Korean American and my husband is Chinese American so we wanted our wedding dinner to reflect both of our cultures. Since Panda specializes in Chinese, they were solid on those dishes. When it came to the Korean dishes they went ABOVE AND BEYOND and actually went to K-Town (multiple times) to some local Korean restaurants to taste the dishes to recreate the authenticity. That seriously blew my mind! You almost never encounter that type of service and dedication to their craft. Working with Nicole was such a wonderful experience. My husband and I weren't sure what we wanted to serve our guests. We had bits and pieces like we wanted a taco cart for our appetizers but them maybe we wanted dimsum as well. Needless to say we were all over the place. Nicole laid out some options for us and guided us in the right direction with a lot of wonderful suggestions that we would have never thought of on our own. The whole catering staff is amazing. The months of planning leading up to the big day and on our wedding day itself, everything went beyond our expectations. I never knew Panda did catering until a friend suggested I check them out for my wedding and I'm so glad I did. Nicole Cherng and the Panda team were incredible. Tasting: We were invited to Panda Inn for the tasting. Nicole accommodated us on a very busy night for the restaurant and I was able to bring 5 people with me. We were seated in a big round table and the service was excellent. Nicole was very attentive to our requests and even made the chef make an special order of a duck dish that was not previously prepared for us. Wedding: I had an wedding at a house so everything had to be brought in. Nicole went to the house several times to make sure there was enough space and entry ways for all the cooks and servers. The day before the wedding, tables for cooking were set up. Then on day of, all the woks and equipment were set up. Nicole organized a great team that cooked and served 200 wedding guests. The food was fresh, well presented and all the guests said it tasted great. Moreover, the house was left in the same condition before the wedding, they even hauled the trash away! i can't say enough about how professional the Panda team was. Budget: Nicole was very aware of our budget and really worked with us and our wedding planner on keeping within the budget. Panda's great catering service really made our wedding a wonderful experience! My husband and I feel so lucky to find and choose Panda catering as my wedding catering for their delicious and authentic Chinese food, as well as the excellent and professional service. All of our guests love the food, said it's the best wedding Chinese food they've ever had (some of the guests are professional chefs). My wedding venue (a golf clubhouse) doesn't provide Chinese food, so I need to find catering service in LA/OC area. I looked through all the wedding sites and forums and googled, there are 6 Chinese catering I found and I did food tasting on all of them. Among them, Panda's food is the most fresh and authenticate one. I grow up in China, so not a big fan of American style Chinese food, Panda's food is authentic cantonese style, which I love. Then I started to work with Adam, as the catering manager. He is very professional, detail oriented and very on top of things. It's really a pleasure to work with him. My venue also highly praised Adam as the best outside catering people they've ever work with. On the wedding day, the food quality is excellent!!! Here are some dishes praised by almost all our guests: steamed whole fish (very well cooked), lobster with ginger and scallions (it's fresh, delicious and big amount), shrimp stuffed crab claws (crispy outside and tender inside), filet mignon (really good). The food plating is neat and decent, which gave guest a good first impression when food first served. The service is excellent and they works with the venue staff. Our experience with Adam, Annie, and the team at Panda Inn was wonderful from beginning to end. We kicked off the entire process with an email to Adam, who quickly set us up with a visit to Panda Inn in Pasadena for a taste test. By the way, this free "taste test" was a full 10 course meal (lobster, entire live fish, peking duck, etc.) for us and our parents, no strings attached. The food was so delicious that we nearly signed the contract on the spot. The thing that impressed us the most was Adam's confidence towards the food. He knew that with his deep experience and background in catering, he would be able to achieve the flavors and experience we wanted to make our wedding one to remember. (Spoiler alert: he was right) The food and service at the wedding did not change from our experience at the food tasting. Annie did a walkthrough of our venue at Hilton Doubletree with the catering manager to figure out the logistics before the wedding. On the actual day of the wedding, many of our guests didn't realize Panda had fine Chinese dining, so they were very impressed when the food started to come out and it was legit Chinese food. Adam even stopped by to check on everything and even serviced some of our family members. We had so much food that many of the tables took multiple boxes of leftovers home. All the guests also got chocolate-covered fortune cookies! Now that our wedding is over, we can confidently say that choosing Panda Inn was definitely the right choice. We looked at other caterers, and even though they were cheaper, the food quality was not even close. Even the level of service at the food tasting was night and day, since some caterers make you pay for additional guests or share tables with other people. We took a chance on Panda Catering based upon reviews on yelp for our 12/9/17 wedding and glad that we did. Adam and his team are professional, responsive and made the overall process very easy for us. Yes, Panda Catering is a division of Panda Restaurant Group that owns Panda Express but the food is completely different. With that being said, we requested Orange Chicken on a stick as an appetizer because who doesn't love Orange Chicken? We received a lot of compliments from guests that the food was excellent (honey walnut shrimp, chicken garlic noodles, filet mignon beef, scallion lobster) and not your average chicken/salmon combo. We hired Panda Catering for our wedding and it was absolutely the best decision ever. From beginning to end, Adam and Annie were there every step of the way to make sure that our needs were met. I've got the typical asian tiger mom and it even passed her test! At the tasting, all our feedback was taken into consideration. Too salty? Problem solved. Too sweet? Problem solved. During reception, I was told that Adam even de-boned a fish for a table that was not accustomed to having a whole fish at the table (great customer service!). I don't write too many reviews and am not an active reviewer but when I do write one, I really really mean it. So though my reputation as a "yelper" may not be up there believe me when I say this is real. There's not enough words to describe the phenomenal service and food coming from Panda Catering. Yes they are under the umbrella branch of Panda Express and Panda Inn but the food that Panda Catering puts out is top notch. I grew up in the "626", land of all chinese resturants run by some of the most authentic asian immigrants you can find. So it's safe to say my palette and experience with asian cuisine is vast. To say Panda catering is up there, means a lot. And they rightfully earned it. They recently catered my wedding, all lead by Adam and his awesome team. Adam needs his own paragraph because he's THAT good so Ill talk about him later. But, in terms of the service, they have their own kitchen setup which they set up outside, they have all the utensils and equipment. They have everything and they look for all the small details you normally would miss. They are a well organized catering team and they will not disappoint. Their team even taught the local venue team how to provide an authenticate asian cuisine service. Everyone at my wedding enjoyed the food and the service. And now for Adam. He not only is responsiveness in communication, he is detail-oriented, patient, understanding, and just an absolute pleasure to work with. He communicates well with other vendors and coordinators. He is very flexible, can work with any budget and cater to whatever vision you have for your wedding. There's really not enough words to describe how great of a person he is to work with. Adam and his team catered the reception for our son's Bar Mitzvah, which we hosted at our house for about 115 guests. We made a few changes to the food options, including adding a black bean fish dish, which was a hit. Adam and his team were a pleasure to work with in advance of the party and did a great job during the event. My father-in-law has owned restaurants and catering companies and is a tough judge of others in the industry. He thought it was great and was very complimentary. Our guests loved the food. We were also glad that we used Adam for the dishes. A friend who runs catering at the Getty Museum said the prices were totally fair on the rentals. Having Panda provide the dishes etc meant that they also cleared them and hauled them away. This was a bonus as it saved us the challenges of storing dirty dishes. Adam and Katrina absolutely did a superb job. The way they conduct business and kept in touch throughout the process was wonderful. We first met with Adam and Katrina at Panda Inn located in La Palma where we did our food tasting with them. Adam and Katrina not only did just one food tasting, but TWO! There was so much food to try that we even had two-four other family members to be some judges with us, yet there were still leftovers to take home! As we did our food tasting, Adam provided all of us a list of all the dishes and a pen. Each dish we stated whether we liked it or not, if we wanted more crab in something or not, if we wanted it more Vietnamese style or not, you name it! Adam and Katrina will customize it in whatever way you desire. Tony and I had our wedding at Coyote Hills Golf Club (Fullerton, California) where they have catered there multiple times. Therefore, it was so easy for Panda and for Coyote Hills for they knew the protocol and logistics already. Even though Coyote Hills welcomes Panda to use their kitchen, Panda sets up their own kitchen onsite. The one thing all of our guests said about the wedding was, "The food was AMAZING! Who catered all the food!? This is the best catered food I've ever had at a wedding!" Just from their onsite kitchen, they did a marvelous 10 course meal for our guests, and there was no such thing as a bad or mediocre plate. Adam and Katrina's priority is making sure that all the guests are well taken care of, including my boss who has so many restrictions on food. Just for him and many others, they were more than happy to accommodate a custom menu. By the way, Panda provides DELICIOUS chocolate dipped fortune cookies for all the guests which are to die for. As impressed as I am with everything with Panda's Catering, the one big SUPERIOR fact that took us away was that whatever food we tried at our food tastings, it tasted just as superb on our big day even though the chef had to cook for 170 people. Cooking for just a few people to 170 people is a SIGNIFICANT difference, and the fact that Panda Catering nailed it no matter how big the party was is absolutely impressive. My new husband and I just got married three days ago and I could not wait to write this review. Words cannot express how grateful we are for everything Mila, Annie, Kevin and the rest of the Panda team have done for our wedding, not just on our actual wedding day but in all the long hours places to prepare for it as well. A 300 guest count wedding in an all outdoor garden is no easy task and they handled it with precision and grace. From Panda we had to rent all the serveware, flatware, glassware, servers, food, appetizers, and even an outdoor kitchen!! No easy task but they did not bat an eye. // FOOD // Guests cannot stop raving about Panda. Our guests kept saying how they could not believe Panda was able to prepare food like that in an outdoor kitchen they prepared on site. Everything tasted amazing and they made sure we were well fed as well at our sweetheart table. We devoured everything and it tasted so good! My personal favorite were the scallops and my new hubby ate both our bowls of fried rice, his favorite!! Everyone also said they couldn't believe the appetizers were so "fancy" with the presentation style. It was so smart to place all types of appetizer on each plate and our guests said it really added to the ambiance of the night. I was even able to drop off items to them to include with the place setting and they accommodated everything. I am so impressed by how they remembered every single detail from my thousands of emails, details I cannot even remember through the busy day. I know a lot of hard work had to go on behind the scenes in order to ensure everything was in place. They even took the time to wrap up the top layer of our cake despite how busy you were and giving us all the extra fortune cookies. The fortune cookies were dipped in chocolate and wrapped in the colored foil of our choice. They had such attention to detail. I could go on and on about how Panda and our coordinator were the instrumental reasons our wedding was such a success and we could never thank them enough for the hard work and effort they poured into the day to ensure we would not feel a single stress or worry. We used Panda Catering for all of our food and bar service at our Wedding on September 8, 2013. We first met with Luther and Nicole who were very easy to work with and familiar with dealing with catering both very traditional Chinese style banquets and more modern Westernized style receptions. We were looking for a caterer who could present traditional Chinese food using modern plating, and was familiar with catering at off-site venues (our venue did not allow cooking in their kitchen, only reheating). Panda was especially qualified because they brought all their equipment and cooked everything on site with their own woks, grills, etc. This made the food fresh and much more appetizing vs. other caterers we met with who told us they cook their food at their own kitchen first, and reheat on site. Food Having really good food was very important to us, since a lot of our guests are really big foodies. Having to please the older relatives and the younger crowd, we were given a lot of choices to select from for our dishes. During the tasting, they asked our opinion of each dish we tasted and were open to improving or modifying any dishes to our liking. They even presented us with additional options for our menu, which we ended up picking. We went with eight courses and each dish was delicious! Our guests could not stop raving about the food, specifically about the Chilean Sea Bass and still talk about it every time we see them! Overall We would definitely recommend using Nicole and her team to cater your event! They were very professional and responsive during the whole process from beginning to even post Wedding day. We recently had our wedding catered by Panda Catering in Camarillo, California. My wife and I live in Arizona, but chose to have a destination wedding in Cali. We didn't want to have the typical Asian Reception at a Chinese Restaurant. We wanted to be strictly outdoors with a flavor of Chinese tradition. We wanted to serve authentic 10 course Chinese meal. Oh boy, were we totally blown away with our expectations with Panda Catering. We had tremendous opportunity to work with Nicole from Panda. Nicole's professionalism was exceptional, which we can't expect any less. She went far and beyond to accommodate us, which made planning so much easier since we live out of state. Before we made our decision to work with Panda. We looked at other Asian caters around Southern California, but from the point we met with Nicole and had our food tasting. We knew instantly knew Panda was our first choice. Our number one priority for us is the quality and flavor in the food because our friends and family are very opinionated with Asian food. If you are Asian and ever gone to an Asian wedding you know that's one of the first thing people complain about at a wedding. It doesn't matter how nicely the food is presented or decorated. If it's not good, then everyone is going to be a food critic. Panda allowed us to choose different Chinese dishes that were not on there set menu. We also had multiple tasting with the Head Chef for our wedding until he perfected the taste to our liking. What caters do you know does that? On the day of wedding, the staffs were on time and prepared to handle 130 of our guests. The décor of the table was setup beautifully to how we've requested. Every single staff members were smiling, very friendly and professional with our guests throughout the whole event. We were unsure if the food would taste the same as preparing for two people versus for 130 people at once. To be honest, we didn't get a chance to eat too much because we were occupied with the whole event. But when I asked my parents (who desperately wanted us to have it at a Chinese restaurant) during the wedding about the food, they were shockingly impressed with the flavor and freshness of the food. The food came out modernly decorated. Panda Catering are definitely professionals in the business. As we made our rounds to meet our guests, we receive lots of compliment about the food and staffs. By all means I am not trying to over exaggerate how excellent of a job Panda did for before and during the wedding. It is all well deserve and more! The next day after our wedding, our family and friends could not stop raving about how great the food and how friendly the staffs were. They kept on asking how and where did we find our caterer. I recently got married on October 13th, 2012 at an outdoor venue in Palm Springs. I was really happy with our vendors but Panda Catering was by far the SINGLE BEST decision my husband and I made for our wedding. I need to start by telling you my husband and I are kind of obsessed with food. We view every meal as a time to eat something amazing and get annoyed if we waste a single opportunity. For us, driving an hour and twenty minutes to Newport Seafood for Sunday dinner is no problem. When we first decided to get married, my husband and I knew that we needed the food to be far different from the usual weeding slop. My Husband is Jewish and I am Chinese, and we quickly decided that Chinese food was the way to go. Neither of us wanted a traditional banquet as we wanted a more American wedding party experience. We needed to have food that was up to the standards of my parents, who are Chinese and from Hong Kong. At the same time, we knew that we had to select items that would work for his family, who are not used to authentic Chinese food. From the first contact, Nicole and Luther were incredible! They were unbelievably professional and service-oriented. All of my questions were answered in a detailed fashion and in a timely manner. More importantly, Nicole and her team also CARED about delivering exactly what we wanted. They created new dishes for us, tailored existing dishes for us, and agreed to add another vegetable dish the week of the wedding! When we told them we wanted to serve exclusively dim sum during the cocktail hour, they brainstormed and came up with a delicious tasting menu of items. In the end, we served egg rolls, BBQ pork buns, fried dumplings, tea smoked duck in buns, and soup dumplings. I tasted them myself and they were amazing. Panda even got us dim sum carts to serve the food in! For dinner, we made a special request to serve a dish similar to the stir-fried specialty lobster at Newport Seafood in San Gabriel, one of our favorite restaurants. Panda did a fantastic job! Definitely order this if you work with them! In addition, we served the steamed chilean sea bass, beef short ribs, noodles and a chicken soup which they served in little crock pots. The food was presented well, served hot, and tasted great. We got soo many comments about how this was the best wedding food any of our guests had ever had, we were so pumped!!! The food was so good that both sets of our parents publically apologized for giving us such a hard time for our choice of cuisine and caterer. The Panda Express connection was scary for them, but do not fear, this is great food and they are AWESOME. For dessert, we got a gelato bar. It was a hit! At one point, every guest at the party was on line for gelato. Panda also threw in fortune cookies dipped in white chocolate. And, they made individual menus for each guest FOR FREE. The best part is that Panda's price is about half the cost of the other caterers we talked to! Definitely the best bang for our buck. Thank you, Panda!!!
