It's time I re-reviewed Kitch as I've now dined here numerous times. My first review was 5 stars and with this review I'm 5 starring them again. For me personally, Kitch is the best restaurant in Belfast. This is the sort of food that I would choose for my last meal on earth as it's so delicious. Kitch offer an extensive, dedicated Vegetarian menu and can Veganise many dishes on request. From Monday to Wednesday It's BYO and for the rest of the week you can choose from their well selected and reasonably priced wine list. Cocktails and liquor coffees are superb as well. By now I've eaten my way through most of the veggie menu having sampled the vegetable tempura, salt & chilli tofu, tofu satay skewers, flatbreads, vegetarian sliders, wild mushroom tagliatelle, roast butternut squash risotto and numerous desserts (the lemon posset is amazing). I've loved every single dish l've had. Plus I've eaten in Kitch with friends, family and work colleagues both vegetarians and carnivores and everyone else has loved the food too. If I could criticise one thing it would be that the chairs are not the most comfortable, however they're not so bad that I would knock a star off for this. The staff are friendly and helpful, decor quirky and casual and atmosphere relaxed. Most importantly of all the food is fantastic. I absolutely love this little restaurant.

I've been to Kitch twice now and I already can't wait to go back. The Food is absolutely amazing and the service is outstanding. Kitch have a great menu - I opted for 3 small plates - deep fried feta cheese with caramelised onion, potato bravas with chorizo and chicken wings. All this for £10 and it was enough for a main meal. It was so good I ordered more to take-away. Oh and it's BYO on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday.

Went here last night on recommendation from Yelp manager Stevie What a place!! This is too cool! The decor for starters is very laid back with mis matched chairs (I swear some were from my old school canteen lol!) with funky art on the wall ranging from a pic of Bob Marley to an huge canvas of Harland & Wolff! We were welcome warmly by the male host...who was so charming, down to earth and truly made the night for us (along with the food) We were able to bring our own wine which they allow mon, tues & wed nights, but they have an extensive wine list too The food...O.M.G!!! It was outstanding! We shared two starters...the salt&chilli squid, and the Korean chicken wings (recommended by Stevie) they were gorgeous! So tasty...could've happily sat and ate these all night no bother lol! For mains, I had the crispy seabass with mash & portavogie prawns, my friend chose 3 sliders (mini burgers) she chose pulled pork&bbq sauce, lamb with harissa, and southern fried chicken) and it came with 3 matching dips for each burger, and fried The mains were amazing...no word of a lie...it was truly gorgeous! For dessert, a hot choc brownie with vanilla ice cream which I can't believe we ordered seeing we couldn't breathe we were that stuffed lol! Again...lush! The only minor downside was the female staff weren't particularly enthusiastic, I wouldn't call them rude, but cracking a smile wouldn't be the worst thing in the world lol! Not to be deterred by less than welcoming females, I highly rate this place and can't wait to go back!

First visit to kitch and I can't wait to go back. We went as a party of three before a belsonic gig. For starters I had the Korean chicken wings which were amazing, I had heard so much about them and they didn't let me down. The others had the popcorn prawns and the squid. The batter on the prawns was so light and fluffy. The squid was cooked perfectly. For my main I had the beef brisket served with mash, greens and gravy. The beef itself was so tender and literally melted in my mouth. The girls went for the shepherds pie and the flatbread. The flatbread looked a bit dry but when we asked for cheese to be added to it the staff were more than helpful. We decided to go for liquid desserts, 2 espresso martinis and an amaretto coffee. Monday to Wednesday it is bring your own but kitch have a great drinks list too including cocktails. That's another added to the list of great restaurants in belfast.

Wow! Fresh, farm-to-table, feel good, and gourmet all in one cute cafe. I had the kale salad with roasted butternut squash, grilled halloumi, and a Dijon vinaigrette and it was so good. My boyfriend had the fish and chips with hake and scalloped potatoes in a tomato and onion beurre blanc sauce and declared that he had "won" lunch and though mine was incredible, his was indeed even better. The portions were a bit small but that left room for dessert AKA THE BEST STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING EVER! Seriously, the butterscotch sauce was divine and I want it drizzled on every dessert ever from now on.

Kitch was super close to our hotel, and both the food and service was on point. Management was also nice. Two things to note - they had some issues in the ladies bathroom due to the rain outside. Definitely watch out for that. Second - they overcharged for our drinks. We dined during happy hour, and had all of our drinks in the allotted time period. When we wanted to pay out, it was a bit of a process to get our tab corrected. So, check your tab before you pay.

Being given the task of organising a work dinner always comes with a lot of pressure. You need to please everyone (especially your boss) with every aspect. I did a lot of research before finally selecting kitch, based on price, menu and, most importantly, it's yelp reputation. I can happily report that not only did my colleagues enjoy themselves, some have actively suggested it for Christmas. Phew! Paul was very helpful on the phone and didn't get annoyed at my constant changing of attendee numbers, even when extra just turned up at the restaurant. The food was amazing. I had the cajun chicken flatbread which was a great size and certainly ticked all my boxes. The white wine was actually one of the best house wines I have had, which is definitely a compliment. I made sure to try a few glasses to make this a fair test of course. I didn't have a starter or desert but they also looked amazing, with the mussels getting a huge thumbs up. The decor itself us very informal and not where you would go for a posh evening. But it suited us perfectly. We had 21 people and they provided us with one u shaped table, much better than any set up I've had before where you don't see most people for the whole night. Overall it was great food at a great price. Only one pointer for the restaurant... Perhaps your bar staff should eat their pot noodles in private in future!

Always nice to see a new restaurant pop up in this area of town, even nicer to see one that is regularly busy, and for a good reason. The food in Kitch is not only delicious, but with generous portion sizes, it is also great value for money. The decor feels nice and homey, and while when I first visited it I thought it was a bit cramped, it honestly didn't bother me since I was too busy enjoying the food. The starters are big enough to share between two people, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, plus it's close to the cinema/bars if you want to go for a nice date night.

    Honey Chili Chicken

Wandered in after seeing great Yelp reviews. Located near our hotel it was a quick walk. The atmosphere was calm. As the night progressed, locals began to enjoy them selves loudly as the drinks flowed. The Irish spirit was in the air! The food was delicious. We started with the Honey Chili Chicken which had us fighting over the last piece! For our main course we shared the Shepherds Pie and the Beef Brisket.. both were delicious. The service started wonderful, but as more patrons entered we were left waiting for our bill for quite some time, eventually we made our way to the bar to pay, as it seemed our bill wasn't coming anytime soon.

Kitch is BYO Mon-Wed The cocktails we got with dinner were great and not too pricey aswell. The menu covers a lot of bases from meat/fish lovers to veggies. I ordered a herb crusted beef brisket which came with mash and the best gravey i have tasted in a long time! The beef was tender and moist, which some other places find hard to do. Will be defo be coming back here again soon.

The lentil burger and the kale salad were outstanding! All we had to do was say the word vegan and they made sure everything met our needs.

Starter: honey chili chicken... so good!

Excellent starter... honey chili chicken! Yum! I had the chicken supreme...so good! I thoroughly enjoyed the white truffle gravy. My husband had the braised beef... also very good! Excellent service

    Popcorn prawns are SO good!

We're in town on a quick jaunt, and wanted to check out something local for dinner. Having checked reviews on Yelp, my husband, 10-year-old daughter, and I decided it a try. The inside atmosphere was simple but warm, and there was great music playing. We had popcorn prawns for starters, which were simply stellar. I had the Shepherd's Pie, which is made with roasted lamb. Oh goodness, unbelievable. So perfect! My husband had the brisket, which he deemed "fabulous" (not a word he uses lightly). My daughter had mini burgers and declared them the best she's ever had. The staff were all so friendly and we enjoyed chatting about music and the town. If you're in the area, you'll do yourself a favor to stop in here!

Doors are opened, coats magically whisked away, chairs pulled out and crystal bowls of fabulous nibbles appear. The highly professional waiters and sommeliers are friendly and at the absolute top of their game; knowledgeable about the food and wine without being intimidating know it alls. They wouldn't dream of telling madam that a merlot does not go with fish in this place - what madam wants, madam gets! This really is fine dining for a special treat, I wouldn't bring my little darlings although I would imagine they would be made most welcome. The bill for two with a bottle of wine will be well over £100 but boy is it worth it! My favourite starter to date is crab tian with water melon (who knew they go together like a dream?) and all starters come with a choice from the bread basket of home baked guinness, olive, cheese or wheaten bread. The last time we visited we were also served an incredibly intricate little complimentary starter of salmon which was a single mouthful of heaven. Main courses are fab too. I have had salmon, chicken, sea bass and Irish venison, all of which have been presented like works of art and which tasted amazing. My good manners have also driven me to order dessert - it would be rude not to try the pecan tart or banana pudding and homemade ice-cream. What I love about the Mitre is that you get all the elegance and ceremony of a traditional fine dining restaurant but with modern twists and menu choices like curried butter and smoked paprika oil for your bread. If you are going for a romantic dinner, ask for a table overlooking the restaurant. Mind you wherever you sit you're in for a treat, especially at weekends when they have a live pianist and jazz singer. Dress up and let the good times roll.

That is why we were so shocked when we visited James St. From start to finish, here were all the issues with our meal: 1) First off, after we sat down for our meal it took an eternity for anyone to take our drinks order. 2) Once we ordered our foods and drinks, it (again) took far too long for our drinks to arrive. And better yet, our food arrived before our drinks. Now, you might be thinking, 'perhaps they ordered some elaborate cocktail' - no. We ordered two diet cokes, and our starters still arrived after our drinks came to us. 3) Our side order of fries simply did not arrive. 4) The main dish I had was simply bizarre, and the salmon did not go well with the assortment of vegetables it was placed underneath. 5) The acoustics in this restaurant are awful, so please do not visit if you are even slightly hard of hearing. Frankly, this was the worst experience I have ever had in a Michelin Recommended restaurant and dare I say it, in perhaps any restaurant in recent memory.

I have eaten at it's sister restaurants, Balloo House and The Parsons Nose and loved both so I was happy to complete the hat-trick! The opportunity presented itself with a family double celebration, a 30th wedding anniversary and a birthday. Two great reasons to book a table. The restaurant is based in Lisbane in what used to be Lisbarnet House and is really quaint with quirky interiors. The staff are friendly and helpful, quickly offering to stash the surprise cake that I had brought along. We were presented with two menus, one for Sunday lunch and one for the weekend brunch options, both offering plenty of choice. Regular readers will know that I am a big fan of splitting starters when I cant decide so my first mission was to get someone to agree to share. Mission accomplished, we chose to share the Chicken liver parfait with rhubarb chutney & sourdough bread and the Goat's cheese crostini with candied walnuts & honey. The goat's cheese and rhubarb combination worked really well but for me, the winning choice was the smooth, creamy flavoursome pate- delicious. For my main, I played safe and chose the roast beef- always a good choice for Sunday lunch. A huge portion of beef appeared in front of me along with a sizable Yorkshire pudding and plenty of roasties. A variety of vegetables came on the side. While this was delicious, I will admit that the quantity on the plate defeated me. Another popular choice at the table was the shellfish linguine, prawns, crab, cockles and chorizo cream- jam packed with flavours. While I was too full to order a pudding, I managed to procure a spoon to sneak a taste of both the selection of icecreams and the Buttermilk Panna Cotta, strawberries and cookie crumble- delicious! I will start by saying their menu was very detailed and had lots of different options that I was excited about. Our waitress was pretty good with recommendations and giving us time to order and what not. It took a little bit of time to get her to our table, but she did well serving us. I wanted to start with a side salad and my colleague got the French onion soup. She loved her soup and I loved my salad, but the portion was very small for a £5 side salad. I could've bought a full bag of spinach and vinaigrette for £1. That was my first disappointment. Since the menu had lots to offer I went with the Lamb loin cutlets and my colleague got the pork loin and we asked the potatoes au gratin style. The dishes were not as good as we had hoped for. The prices were steep for the quality of food received. My lamb loin was more fatty than lamby - maybe that's the way they're presented, I just disliked the dish for the portion along with the taste. My colleague didn't appreciate the pork loin much either. The potatoes were flavorless, but they were edible so that was my main course. The two stars are for dessert. Their dessert was dreamy and I highly recommend it! This place seems like the place you can bring a date for a cocktail and dessert.

But it's partly my fault for ordering 2 starters when the main dishes are their better plates. Lesson learned. The pan-fried risotto cake was a bland mix of tomato and rice, topped with a sad portion of aubergine. The Cesar salad was bitter and poorly dressed with an un-bendable Parmesan crisp and a stale, giant crouton. Really bad. I asked for the salad without chicken but the waiter nor the menu mentioned that the greens were covered in bacon bits. From the time the dishes were first served to the time we could flag down service, my companions were 3/4 of the way through their meal. The waiter also made a stink when I sent it back. In contrast, my friends liked their meals. The "deconstructed" fish and chips aren't deconstructed in any way. The chips are oven-baked so they aren't crisp - ask for them well done. Bacon was snuck into the peas too. The salmon was fresh and rich. It came on top of some sort of potatoes which were pretty much ignored, as the fish was far better. The best dish (and what I really wish I had ordered!) was the "special" chicken in a tarragon cream sauce. The mashed potatoes were divine. And that sauce... To salvage my meal, we tried the "real" death by chocolate dessert. For €7 it was just an undercooked piece of cake with some watery fudge sauce on the plate. There was no trace of the chocolate dirt or other fancy decadence the menu promised. Service was polite but slow. The waiter was kind enough to ask if/when we were done with our appetizer so he could bring the entrees. However, he did give me attitude when I sent back a salad - and I didn't even ask for a replacement. Geez.

The family to my left were critical of the food but told the waiters it was 'lovely' on the four occasions I heard them being asked. This also annoyed them. There was also a dispute between them whether to go for a pint to 'Laverys' afterwards. The father clearly wanted to, his wife and daughter were lukewarm & hostile respectively and the son in law or potential in law was too polite to decline. So they unhappily agreed to disagree and went off two by two. When the male waiters (no female wait staff) attended the tables either side of us their elbows were inches from the side of my head with their movements occasionally forcing me move sideways. One waiters' derrière was 2 inches from my butter chicken a few times. Hardly a romantic setting. Once wedged in we got 2 'complimentary' pappadams with 3 dips. I asked for a Nepalese beer only to be told they don't have any so I ended up with an over-priced Singha beer, most likely brewed in Carlsberg's Russian plant that distributes to most of Europe. I imagine if these folk really are Nepalese they'd proudly flog their Khukuri beer and Hinwa and Dadaghare wines. I got the small one at £3.5 which works out at £6 a pint. My wife got a mini bottle of white wine at £4.5 which is £18 a 75 ml bottle. The young waiter who said his only job was serving booze did suggest I'd be able to get some Nepalese beer in London, but I thought it was a tad far to go for a beer at 8pm on a Saturday night in Belfast. It's a well overpriced place, with my paneer cheese starter at £6 when £4 would be fair. My butter chicken main was £13 when a fair price would be £11. They do that deception where meat is cut into cubes to give the impression of plenty, bulked out by copious cheap sauce. The menus don't mention that chemical food colouring is used. I'm not a fan of these food colourings, so I'm disappointed when I see vividly red food being served up. I'm also peeved that the use of chemical colourings is not mentioned on the menu either. My paneer starter had 5 pieces of almost tasteless cheese in a lightish batter, with a smidgen of hot sauce staining the plate, a morsel of lettuce, a sliver of carrot & a cucumber slice. My butter chicken was near scarlet, packed with sugar, with small chunks of equally bright chemically red chicken. My wife had an overpriced chicken pakora starter (3 battered bits should be £2 cheaper) with a similar smear of hot sauce, morsels of carrot, lettuce & cucumber. Her overpriced main (£17) was meant to be a sizzling dish but it wasn't. Not that we minded, as sizzling just means that the very hot iron plate on which the food sits is drizzled with cold cooking oil. Again this main was bulked out with lots of fried onions with some shards of green pepper made to look a generous portion, but there wouldn't have been £3 worth of meat on the plate. The boiled basmati rice was perfectly cooked, the small vegetable curry accompaniment was watery and lukewarm. The nan bread isn't nan bread as it's too thin to be proper nan: so it it's a crisp bread, probably 20p to make the dough turning into a £2 price tag. The service was effusive, nearly as sugary sweet and artificial as the butter chicken but when I know I'm being ripped off I don't tip. We'd paid handsomely for two 'free' pappadams with dips. We were asked at least three times about our food. I said read my review but I guess I wasn't understood. We paid near £53 for a two course meal for two with a small drink each, so it was well overpriced once it went above £40. I suspect it's just another Pakistani restaurant which has come up with the wheeze of Nepalese cuisine and the ancient romantic Kathmandu as devices to overcharge and how. If this is dining in times of austerity I'd hate to see their price structure if we ever see good times. Back to M&S butter chicken - wonderful for a factory made meal and without artificial muck too.
