I want to give a shout out to Andrea and Chris (I wish I had last names!)…read more You know what it's like when life gets so stressful that you are struggling to find a reason to make it through the day, and then you discover a sweet treat in the international candy aisle of your local Tony's that is like nothing else you've ever eaten, and it becomes your nightly reward for making it through another day? No? Just me? Well, then humor me. I found that treat (and I'm not identifying it because I don't want my store to run out!!) and I stopped in my Tony's Monday morning to get my week's worth, and despite the fact that I hadn't seen the supply dwindle at all in the months I've been eating these treats (so I just assumed I was the only one who bought them,) AND they had literally boxes full of product every time I came to Tony's, my heart SUNK when I saw the empty shelf. Sometimes when life rains, it pours, and life has been pouring on me, and seeing that one of the few things I had to look forward to was gone, broke the camel's back. I headed toward customer service, and saw a woman standing in front of customer service (she may have been supervising the self checkout) and I approached her on the verge of tears and explained that they were out of the only thing that brought me joy, and she said "well then, we will find it." That was Angela. Thank you, Angela!!! Truly, an angel! I was expecting judgment, not kindness. I was hoping they had just moved the candy to a different display or something but Angela looked into it and they were completely out (and when I'd been in less than a week earlier, there was still a LOT of product that was about a year away from expiration, so I guess I'm NOT the only one who finds this item irresistible!) So Angela recruited a very kind gentleman named Chris who got my information, placed an order with the vendor, and barely 24 hours later I got a text from Chris that the product was at the store waiting for me. My experience with "customer service" on a whole lately has been that no one seems to care anymore. Or that people do the absolute minimum that they can get away with. I cannot remember the last time I had a company truly care if I was happy with my shopping experience. Angela could have just told me to "go look for the product at other Tony's stores" or online ... but instead she made sure the item would be available at my preferred store. Chris could have just told me "they'll be in some time next week, come in and look" .... but instead, he texted me to let me know when they arrived, and because I couldn't make it into the store that day, he made sure to set side the quantity I need. Again, these are all such small things in the grand scheme of life, but Joy and kindness are so important and so hard to come by these days. Because of the kindness of Andrea and Chris, I'm able to find little bits of joy at the end of the day, as I work my way through this difficult chapter in my life.

They were able to create them. I would never usually ask for special treatment or a short order, and when I did, they delivered. I cannot thank them enough for easing the burden on such a hard weekend. I have shopped there since the Prospect Heights store opened. I love the selection, the workers, and the deals. A good store run by good people.

Small Polish market that is just different enough from local competitors like Garden Fresh and…read moreFresh International Market to stand out. Parking isn't too difficult here as it's generally not super busy and the size of the store is convenient for getting in and out rather quickly, though this does sacrifice some of the selection you'd get. However, it makes up for this by having a fairly comprehensive section of baked goods, hot foods, and cakes. Prices are in general low, though not the lowest on all goods. Presentation overall is nice, particularly in how organized the produce section is. It's also nice to see a low percentage of bruised or bad looking fruits or vegetables. There's not too much in terms of organic selection here, though this is likely due to a limit of the store size. Where this store really shines is in its selection of international items such as yogurt, cheese, butter, meats, sauces, and cookies. I also like the meat quality offered here and its generally good presentation. There's a very nice selection of fresh baked bread, and paczki from Racine Bakery. These are offered at very good prices. The cake selection is also quite competitive and offers a nice change-of-pace from the standard buttercream options you'll find at Jewel or Marianos. The prepared food is also competitively priced, with daily meal deals. Here are some quick thoughts on different items I tried: Potato pancake: Seasoned nicely with crispy edges. Meat eggroll: Fluffy and light with a generous amount of ground meat Mushroom & sauerkraut eggroll: Nice addictive flavor in the mix of mushroom and sauerkraut -- nice and tender texture. Orange chicken: Seems to be made from breast meat instead of dark meat, I do like the flavor of the fried batter though it's not really similar to the Americanized Chinese style Mixed veggies: Nice and flavorful. Contains carrots, eggplant, onions, and other vegetables which are herbed and seasoned nicely. Fried rice: Nice amount of peppers. The rice was overly soft though and lacked "wok hay". Eclair: Nice puff pastry with a good bready flavor. Smooth and fluffy cream which is very flavorful with a nice light chocolate layer on top. Cream puff: Delicious cream filling in a nice light shell. Very well done. Rum ball: Great rum flavor, very aromatic especially with the coconut exterior. I liked the chopped hazelnut and overall pleasant mouthfeel of everything when combined. Pink napoleon: Filling is a lot like marshmallow. Overall a nice flaky pastry. Fruit tart: Super cream, thick tasty cream. The crust is nice and crumbly. The fresh fruit is held together nicely by a flavorful gelatin. Well done both in terms of flavor and presentation. Overall, I do like the convenience of a market this size with a good selection of Polish and other international goods. Checkout is very fast with minimal waiting, and it's fun to shop in a nicely decorated and managed store with friendly staff.

How does it stay fresh? He was very helpful explaining the process that they vacuum seal the meats, wet-age it in it's own juicies then blast freeze to keep the freshness. I decided to buy a couple of products to try: ground beef and wagyu hamburger patties. I was told that the wagyu hamburger patties were juicy and tasty. The ground beef was good and when defrosted it was better compared to the beef you would normally buy from a normal grocery chain. Everytime, I go to this location to pick-up meats, the staff is welcoming and friendly. They answer all my questions and point me in the right direction. I was pointed to their froze veggies and I'm going to buy them next time to see if they are just as fresh as their meats. The store is well lit so it is easy to read everything. Everything is in the appropriate groups: Chicken, Pork, Beef, Seafood, etc. If you want great service and good meats and low prices head over to Wild Fork!
