I wish I could buy Stiglmeier products. For years, I would visit Delicatessen Meyer, and buy a variety of their products, all of which were excellent. Unfortunately Delicatessen Meyer is long gone, as are just about all of the old German deiicatessens that were in Chicago. Some stores carry some Stiglmeier products, but it is a hit or miss process as not all stores carry all products. It should be a relatively simple process to order on line. But it isn't. I live on a corner house on a busy street, and I have a post office box specifically to have mail ordered products shipped to a safe address. I am seldom home during the day. I can't ship perishable products to this post office box. I also don't have the time to sit home all day waiting for UPS or Fed Ex to show up. I would think it would be a relatively simple process to order from Stigleier on line, and pick up the order at their factory when it's ready. I drive through their area regularly But no, you can't pick up anything from the factory. Has to be shipped. In an insulated packages. With cold packs. Effectively doubling the prices, and forcing me to work my schedule around when a delivery driver might show up. It's funny, as I can drive up to the Usinger factory store in Milwaukee with no problem, and often visit the Crawford Sausage Co. factory store on S. Pulaski with absolutely no problem, but picking up from Stilgmeier Sausage is streng verboten. I can see where their shipping service is great for out of town people, the doubling of price for local people is absolutely absurd. Again I wish I could buy their products as they are excellent, but not paying double the price and being forced to hang around for delivery. read more
