A gigantic grocery store with tons of options…read more Coming from New England, we don't usually see stores of this size unless they have blue and yellow signage. In need of household goods, we made the trek and figured there was at least a few options available. We were wrong, this place is not a typical grocery store. It's a food emporium, with tons of aisles and plenty of choices. Was surprised they didn't have any manned stations (meat, deli, and fish usually have someone there with fresh products). This place just has more aisles. And while we might have one or two cases of a specific type of item, you got full aisles. And not just one aisle, but multiple. And many different brands and types. It's impressive to say the least. The discover only for card payments was a little weird. But not an issue since they take cash. Price was fairly reasonable as well. All-in-all, a fun trek for a mundane task. If you need to find a product, check woodsman's. They probably got it

During my drive home, sometimes to need to pick up a few things to make some dinner…read more This time, I needed to pickup 3 potatoes. As I was shopping, I found potatoes for $1.49 each. As I looked around more, I saw a 5 pound bag for .99 on sale. I also picked up some freeze dried strawberries. With two things in my hand, I headed over to the self checkout. It was a looonnng line. I looked over to the regular checkout and there plenty of lanes open width 1-2 people each. I went to one lane and was out in a flash. I like Jewel cause sales and service. Sales are great and if you have the app, it's easy to use and you can get additional coupons.

Of course there will be certain days where everything goes wrong and you can't get what you need, you get charged wrong, or the wait in line is too long. But that happens. Overall, they move lots of products so the produce and meat is pretty fresh and not sitting for ages turning funny colors. Grocery items are usually in stock and the Just For U deals can save you lots of money! I've had to return items here and there and the return policy is pretty user-friendly. Since the demise of Marianos, Jewel has become our primary grocery store. This Jewel and another I frequent meet all our grocery needs. This store is not perfect, but I have to say they do a fine job and my bad experiences are pretty far and few between.

While bagging my purchases at the self-checkout station at Mariano's Glenview West store, I had a…read morechance to chat briefly with Eric, the friendly associate who assists customers there. According to Eric, the store is now set to close on August 8, moving up from the original closing date of August 22. That's just a month away! He mentioned that Kroger is swapping the closing date of this location with the one in Buffalo Grove. Eric assured me that he'll still have a job with the company, but his current commute is just one minute, and now, he doesn't yet know where he'll be reassigned. Even before hearing that the store would be closing two weeks earlier than expected, I was already feeling nostalgic. I've shopped at this Mariano's for over 10 years. It's huge, clean, and rarely overcrowded--maybe that's part of what hurt it from a business perspective. I've taken a few photos to help remember it, and I know I'll miss this place a lot.

A large Mariano's with a diverse set of products much like their other locations. The parking lot…read moreis quite large and not too hard to navigate around as businesses surrounding it don't really cause much cross traffic. The inside is clean, with some nicer displays and dining areas that I don't always see at Mariano's locations. The prices are fairly competitive, with plenty of items on sale though some require fairly large quantities before the sale price is triggered. Though the store is enormous, products aren't grouped too tightly so there is plenty of space to navigate around the store (though, I would prefer a bit more aisle spacing as some areas seem to have a good amount of unused space). This also means that the selection is large, but not as enormous as if they used less space for making attractive displays and instead packed products more tightly on the aisles. Checkout is fairly quick, with a good number of self checkout kiosks available to use.

I've driven past this location ever since it opened but never stopped by. One day I decided to…read morestop by and I'm glad I did! I spoke to a staff member and asked why is every meat frozen? How does it stay fresh? He was very helpful explaining the process that they vacuum seal the meats, wet-age it in it's own juicies then blast freeze to keep the freshness. I decided to buy a couple of products to try: ground beef and wagyu hamburger patties. I was told that the wagyu hamburger patties were juicy and tasty. The ground beef was good and when defrosted it was better compared to the beef you would normally buy from a normal grocery chain. Everytime, I go to this location to pick-up meats, the staff is welcoming and friendly. They answer all my questions and point me in the right direction. I was pointed to their froze veggies and I'm going to buy them next time to see if they are just as fresh as their meats. The store is well lit so it is easy to read everything. Everything is in the appropriate groups: Chicken, Pork, Beef, Seafood, etc. If you want great service and good meats and low prices head over to Wild Fork!
