Lunch special with sides! Amazing deal for delicious food!! All packages nicely

Was visiting from out of town and needed to stock up on some Polish goodies. They have a nice variety of products and then some. The bakery is delectable as ever and the meats smell so tantalizing!! Wish they had one in Charleston *sad face* but alas, the other thing that caught my attention was the $5.99 lunch special where you pick a main protein and for the sides it's 1 hot item and 2 cold options. They package everything so nice and tight so it survives the car ride home in one piece! Silverware is available as well. I really enjoyed the fried fish and flavorful side salads. Checkout was quick and friendly lol tried to help pack the items but those bags stick together so well haha

I love Montrose Market! Used to be known as Wally's Market before they changed ownership, Montrose Market has definitely upped the game since this change. Predominantly a Polish market, this grocery store also has other cuisines. The sushi here is FIRE and so fresh. The best thing about this store are the fresh dinners they have. For $3.99, you get an entree with 2 sides and they PACK your meal, too, so you get so much good food for such a low price. Their hot foods are everything - I love their placki (potato pancakes), golombki, shishkabobs, and pierogi. Their desserts here at their little bakery are to-die-for, as well. Their produce is always fresh and they have such great prices. Their deli is so big with tons of various meat and cheese options. They also serve fresh baguettes daily. My family and I get a lot of our groceries and dinners here, and I totally recommend this market to all!

Nice Polish grocery!  And it's big and it's pretty close to home, so double bonus points.  This place is called Montrose Market and a subsequent check of their website confirmed that it's basically the same business chain as the two Montrose Deli's on Chicago's northwest side. It was our first visit to any Montrose, but I remembered one thing associated with Montrose Market or Deli, and that's their great value $3.99 carryout meal.  Though I had just eaten lunch, I picked up one of these just for grins, and it will probably be my dinner.  What an amazing deal - a hot entree (pork chop), a hot side (baked potato wedges), and two side salads (cucumber-tomato, and a Hawaiian chicken salad) - all for $3.99!  Check the photo - I don't know if it's a loss leader for them, but it's a deservedly big and popular draw.  You get a choice of 5 entrees, and there are like 16 different salads to choose from as well.  Wow. As far as the rest of the store, there were the usual popular Polish items - a huge variety of sausages, breads, bakery items, deli items, and all other manner of grocery items.  In a good sign, it was busy and I hardly heard a word of English.  I also bought some meat pierogies (only $3.19/lb) and a couple variety of their kielbasa.  The lady attendant understood what I asked for, but when I asked if she had a favorite, we didn't connect on that one, ha.  I will endeavor to bone up on some casual and useful Polish before my next visit here and which is a given!  ps - I also learned that if you're over 65, you save 15% every Wednesday here - yaay for old age!

The deli products are fresh and tasty. Good assortment of hams, variety of kielbasa types, pork loin, etc.

I definitely like this Polish grocery store not only because of the Polish foods but also because of the other and a lot of good things that the store offers, like their bakeries and cooked meals.

I know my daughter likes to visit there with friends for a bite of sushi, a cold drink from the cooler, or even a slice of tiramisu. They got a star back from my mental 3 star review because they brought their happy hour menu back! From 4p-7p Monday through Thursday, they run specials like $3 tacos (Tuesdays) or $8 burritos (Thursdays). They had some summer happy hour menu and it just did not appeal to me so I am glad they brought the original one back, albeit with slightly higher prices than before. I was able to pick up my daughter from drum lessons then pick up steak tacos to eat before we cut into our Rosca de Reyes. Their bakery is also a good stop before a gathering, although it can be hard to get an employee's attention in that department. I have gotten cannolis, brownies, cookies, etc. and everything has been eaten with positive reviews. I get whatever is on sale so it has "forced" me to try different items! Also, the focaccia bread is welcome into the rotation of dinner sides. Overall, I find the staff to be friendly enough and quick to jump to make sure the checkout line keeps moving. I am glad this store is there for when we need them!

They have a Bar Angelo where you can buy beer and cocktails, though it should be noted that it's not a full bar.  They also serve burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and an assortment of appetizers.  There's a nice shaded patio right outside the cafe as well as some indoor seating.  I don't know if this bar/cafe setup is a common feature or not of Angelo Caputo's Fresh Markets, but I could see it working well especially for the very close-by apartment dwellers.  Anyway, a thumbs-up impression from our first visit.

Stumbled across this store after a UPS return of what else... an online order, maybe? Lol…read more.. So I love Amish products, they seem so legit and "farmers market" without the hipster markup, amirite? So this new place was initially very intriguing and unusual... I think this storefront used to be a pre-prepped meal kit place, like the home delivery stuff being sold now over socials... Anyway, the store seems more like a eastern euro (Polish?) Business reselling Amish items. Prices seem well below retail on the few items they carry but produce and such fresh items are only passable and look to have seen better days. Dairy, bread and canned goods are interesting. Due to lack of preservatives the daily baked bread seems to go stale by end of day, so I got the inexpensive French mini loaf tossed in for free. Was planning on Air fryer toasting that into crostini anyway... so score. The drop in a star was due to the iffy customer service. Older lady needs to down some sugar and not shoot dour looks at me, not the best impression on a new customer..., the other lady seemed friendlier but should probably chill on long convos in Polish while a customer is standing at the register to checkout. Might be back, next time I'm in the strip mall for curiosity... but Woodman's has Amish items too.

That's not saying too much as I've consumed 95 different grocery store tissis this year, but I'm trying to be the people's champ. You gotta earn that title. I was in Chicago for the weekend, and saw there was this Meijer a 35 minute drive away. I knew what I had to do. I took an uber to the promised land, hopeful this would be some Tier 1 bird as it was so highly recommended. I pulled up and saw firetrucks out front with lights on. My internal dialogue began to run: "There's no way... I came all this way just for it to be closed because there's a fire in there?! God making me work for this one..." But then I saw people walking in and out so it was all good. I went and grabbed a $5.99 bird, took it to a business park right down the street, and dug in with my bare hands. I can't even tell you how disappointed I was in this chicken. It landed at a 7.4/10 which currently ranks it 53rd out of 96. People were riding for Meijer like it was gonna be in the 9s. I want to give a shout out to Andrea and Chris (I wish I had last names!)…read more You know what it's like when life gets so stressful that you are struggling to find a reason to make it through the day, and then you discover a sweet treat in the international candy aisle of your local Tony's that is like nothing else you've ever eaten, and it becomes your nightly reward for making it through another day? No? Just me? Well, then humor me. I found that treat (and I'm not identifying it because I don't want my store to run out!!) and I stopped in my Tony's Monday morning to get my week's worth, and despite the fact that I hadn't seen the supply dwindle at all in the months I've been eating these treats (so I just assumed I was the only one who bought them,) AND they had literally boxes full of product every time I came to Tony's, my heart SUNK when I saw the empty shelf. Sometimes when life rains, it pours, and life has been pouring on me, and seeing that one of the few things I had to look forward to was gone, broke the camel's back. I headed toward customer service, and saw a woman standing in front of customer service (she may have been supervising the self checkout) and I approached her on the verge of tears and explained that they were out of the only thing that brought me joy, and she said "well then, we will find it." That was Angela. Thank you, Angela!!! Truly, an angel! I was expecting judgment, not kindness. I was hoping they had just moved the candy to a different display or something but Angela looked into it and they were completely out (and when I'd been in less than a week earlier, there was still a LOT of product that was about a year away from expiration, so I guess I'm NOT the only one who finds this item irresistible!) So Angela recruited a very kind gentleman named Chris who got my information, placed an order with the vendor, and barely 24 hours later I got a text from Chris that the product was at the store waiting for me. My experience with "customer service" on a whole lately has been that no one seems to care anymore. Or that people do the absolute minimum that they can get away with. I cannot remember the last time I had a company truly care if I was happy with my shopping experience. Angela could have just told me to "go look for the product at other Tony's stores" or online ... but instead she made sure the item would be available at my preferred store. Chris could have just told me "they'll be in some time next week, come in and look" .... but instead, he texted me to let me know when they arrived, and because I couldn't make it into the store that day, he made sure to set side the quantity I need. Again, these are all such small things in the grand scheme of life, but Joy and kindness are so important and so hard to come by these days. Because of the kindness of Andrea and Chris, I'm able to find little bits of joy at the end of the day, as I work my way through this difficult chapter in my life.
