Poor packaging. Ordered the 6 large lobster tail gift using our airline mile points. The tails came in a cheap metal bucket made in China that the handles fell off when we picked it up. Aside from the 6 tails it contained 3 little tubs of butter, bibs, picking tools and wet wipes. Everything was soaking wet because the tails were defrosted. The delivery driver left the box on our 87 degree front porch in Florida and never took a few seconds to ring the doorbell despite the large lettering on the box that the contents were perishable and to keep refrigerated. I don't even know where to begin here. I'm leaving 3 stars because LobsterGram wasn't really at fault here. Let me set the scene: it's 4:00 pm on New Years Eve. I come home from work (pretty high stress job) and have a notification that I had a package delivered. I pick the package up, walk into my apartment. The package is a sealed styrofoam cooler. I'm thinking that it's some sort of frozen food or what the hell ever. I can't even begin to describe the sounds that came from my body when I opened the package to find two live lobsters crawling around. (Note I did not buy these, they were sent as a gift). I immediately entered a complete nuclear meltdown with screams, tears, and hyperventilation. This gift has now turned into a fucking problem that I have to deal with. My first thoughts were to either release them into the ocean or buy a saltwater aquarium and become a lobster mom. These lobsters were rather lethargic and didn't appear to have a high likelihood of survival in the ocean or in the home I was going to try to obtain. So there I was, sobbing in my living room with two lobsters who certainly did not deserve this end to their life. A lot of screams of "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK" Happened as well. After brainstorming with my equally shocked but supportive partner, we reached out to some friends who agreed to rearrange their NYE plans to help my emotional stability and humanely end the lobsters lives. What can LobsterGram do to improve? Maybe ensure that the recipient knows that they are going to receive living creatures in the mail. Maybe give them the option to select something else. Maybe nudge the buyers to check with the recipient that they are not going to have an epic meltdown over getting two live lobsters delivered to their home. Nothing arrived and I checked with the rewards department and was told that the order shipped 6 December. It didn't arrive for Xmas or New Year's and still has not shown up. My rewards department would not refund the points and have directed me to contact Lobster Gram. At this point, I don't see that as helpful...they can't give me back my points, we wouldn't order from them again, and the only silver lining is that based on the other negative reviews...my parents didn't miss much. HOWEVER, in December 2021, I responded to the company's emails, urging me to order early in order to ensure that my desired items could be delivered in time for Christmas. Shortly after we placed our order, we received emails about sales on the items we'd just purchased. When we contacted Customer Service about this issue, they failed to respond. In May 2022, we placed another order, this time, it was sent via Amazon. When the Lobster Gram arrived at our friend's home, the package was open and the food inside, destroyed. Amazon immediately refunded our money. HOWEVER, when we contacted Lobster Gram Customer Service, they basically told us it was "Amazon's problems, not ours". Just got a couple live lobs delivered to my home. Had a fantastic experience. The lobsters arrived right on time and were alive and kickin', well actually they were a bit jet-lagged initially but they perked up. I was amazed to find that they were so fresh that there was no fishy smell at all. The box comes with everything you could possibly need to create the perfect meal: a great detailed cooking guide, lemons, butter, bibs, crackers, picks and hand wipes. I can't wait to do it again! I have heard about this place on WGN radio (local Chicago station if anyone else is reading this) for years and I finally decided to get this for my dad for his birthday. It was perfect and easy to do. I went onto their website to check everything out then I decided to call their 800 # because I like to talk to actual people! I was surprised to be talking to someone in the US and not someone over in India and they happened to be extremely enjoyable to talk to. My dad loved the gift. It was a couple of 1.5 lb live lobsters and a perfect present for the person who already has it all (who can turn down food!!!) I placed an "emergency" order from Lobster Gram on 1/6/22 for delivery to FL for 1/7/22, and I couldn't have been happier. I've been meaning to write this review all month. I had ordered live lobsters from a different company in Maine for my mom's 80th birthday in early January basically a week in advance. After getting no delivery confirmation, I had called that other company on Jan 5 - the original date of my delivery - and they said they would be a day late due to shipping problems. Ok, I thought. Her birthday is on the 6th, so I had the wiggle room. The 6th came and still no confirmation so I called and was told my order was not going to go out for another 4-5 days. The customer service at that other company was so bad for not even keeping me apprised of what was going on without me making these additional calls, and the only thing they were willing to do was either cancel the order or give me a credit that amounted only to an additional amount of $17.00 over what I had originally paid. What is that when now I'm blowing a big part of my mom's 80th birthday event, and I did everything right and ordered a week in advance? Indeed, the girl was so rude that she hung up on me before I could even finalize a decision on what to do. I called back and canceled my order, and then I called Lobster Gram. I explained the situation to a very nice woman at Lobster Gram around 3 pm in the afternoon on Jan 6 - my mom's actual birthday. She was delightful to work with, and she recreated my order - 4 live lobsters and two soups - and my parents received the order in Florida before noon the next day! They said that the lobsters were lively upon arrival, and super meaty (definitely the size I ordered and not short on the weight) and sweet when they had them later that day for dinner. We are NJ folks, and we know lobsters, so while I was not with them in FL, I trust their assessment of the lobsters! They haven't had the soups yet - they froze them - but I suspect they will enjoy them as well. Thank you Lobster Gram! I never used this company before, but they were excellent to deal with in terms of nice, competent customer service, really fast delivery to get me out of a bind with trying to send something timely after another company basically screwed up my plans, and the product was delicious (oh and well-packaged evidently). Ordered gift for family member. Selected overnight shipping. Nothing on the website explains that "overnight" means could get it at 9 pm and at this point, I'm hoping for even that. When I call, I'm told I should have selected priority overnight. I tried their website again - nothing on the buying page tells you the difference. If you click the shipping link, you get a bad link. When I tried to track the order on their webpage, I got a 404. Their customer service rep was unhelpful and unsympathetic when I called, basically saying it was my fault. I ordered a Xmas dinner to arrive on the 23rd by 2 day air saver. On the 23rd I received a phone call stating it was going to be delivered on the 24th instead. I dont have a problem with that, but to make up for it, they should have made it 2 day air (with guaranteed delivery by 1.30pm) instead of 2 day air saver (which means delivery up to 7pm). I was lucky enough that the food eventually got delivered by 5pm, and we got to enjoy it that night. Aside from that logistical issue, I have to admit the food quality was extremely good and tasty. I cannot stress enough how good everything tasted! So that would have been a 5* just for that. I also found the customer service very responsive and willing to help. They even sent a $50 gift card to make up for trouble. So thank you, and definitely recommending to any out there. Be advised that YOU may pick what you want sent in most cases, unless you specify a specific day for the gift, the person will receive a gift certificate in the amount of the specific item you chose. A week ago a placed a couple of orders, one for two lobsters, the other for six and was made "aware" of a situation. The pair of lobsters cost $200 plus $50.50 delivery. Fine bill my credit card $250.50. The phone rep tells me they only issue gift certificates in $25.00 increments?! If I want to give a $250.50 gift. I have to purchase $275.00 worth of gift certificates?! I was offered the option of giving a $250.00 gift and having the recipient pay $0.50 for the 2 lobsters I am told this is due to their "system". They have been working on it. The "additional $24.50" will be carried over into the account that will now be established of the recipient. Obviously a way of getting a second order. Would love to know if ALL their pricing is conveniently priced to allow such a large amount to be deposited into the customer's account? We got a gift bucket from Lobster gram which had lobster tails, clam chowder, crab cakes with an add on pound of shrimp & lava cakes. The blue crab cakes and the clam chowder were very flavorful, The lobster tails were nice and big and very moist. The shrimps were huge. Overall the quality of the products is very good. Special mention to the packing of all the products.everything was individually wrapped so it was easy to store in freezer and didn't take much space. Never in my life had I been so frustrated ordering something online. We received a $75 gift certificate for this company. That $75 did not cover any of their standard packages- what it did cover were the "add-on" offerings, which one cannot order without first ordering a $100+ package. The standard package is outrageously expensive- I'm sorry, 8 8-oz burgers for $65? But they advertise $35 for the add-on. Unbelievable. We finally landed on the $50 12-ounces of lobster ravioli (I shudder at the thought of that price. It better be damn good) and the add on of 1 lb of scallops to find that the lowest shipping price is $38?! I'm sorry, what?! We've received thermal packaging with food in it before (Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, etc.), and none of it has ever cost so much to be shipped. I am so disappointed in Lobstergram. I ordered lobster and steak for my sister and brother-in-law and paid an extra $38 to have it shipped overnight to have it delivered for their anniversary. I went to the track shipment to see why they had not received it, and it said it would be there the following day (making it 2 nights instead of overnight). I called customer service (twice) and they gave me the same runaround stating that it is overnight AFTER it ships from their warehouse. They also mentioned that I must of chosen the day after instead of overnight. I asked them why they would charge me an overnight fee for a 2 day delivery, and they didn't budge. From start to finish my experience with Lobster Gram was a huge disappointment. I received a gift certificate from a family member for my birthday and attempted to have 2 live lobsters delivered to my New York apartment. On the morning of the scheduled delivery I was told that the lobsters got stuck in transit and would not be arriving. Annoying, but these things happen. So I attempt a second delivery. I arranged my schedule so that I will be at my apartment when UPS delivered the lobsters (it was made clear that I needed to cook them the day they arrived, so I couldn't risk them going back to the UPS holding facility) and had purchased at least $100 worth of items from the grocery store for the dinner I planned to make that evening (FWIW -- I was making lobster newburg for guests). The huge package arrived on time but imagine my surprise when I opened it and, instead of the two live lobsters I ordered, I found a dozen blueberry mini pies, six frozen lobster claws, and two frozen tails -- along with a note saying "we ran out of live lobsters so please enjoy this instead". Needless to say I was pretty livid. The items Lobster Gram decided to send me, in lieu of what I actually ordered, were not what I needed to make my planned dinner. $100 worth of groceries went to waste and I had dinner guests arriving without time to really defrost the lobster claws and tail. When I did, the lobster was so fishy and rubbery that we just threw it all out after a few bites. Truly the worst lobster I have ever had, and that includes lobster I have had on airplanes! The "pies" that I did not order (and now had six of) tasted like sugary plastic. For the life of me I don't know why LG didn't call to say they had run out of live lobsters BEFORE they mailed me random items that I did not order. Obviously they KNEW they ran out of lobsters well before they were scheduled to ship my order. Their choice to instead send me a box of random stuff with no notice is perplexing. Worst of all, when I explained that I received items I did not order the customer service operator said there was nothing she could do and they would not allow me to use my gift certificate again. Just way too expensive. Everything on the menu is ridiculously expensive. Then there's the shipping. I am from New England and spent every summer growing up on the rocky coast of Maine. These lobsters do NOT taste anything like Maine lobster. Do yourself a favor and go to a nice grocery store for live lobster or go to Maine and eat the real thing for pennies compared to this place. Also, the people are just not nice when you call. They are terse, grouchy, in a hurry and not helpful. Go to the grocery. Buy two New York strip steaks, a bag of scallops, a pound of bacon and toothpicks. Follow thaw directions for scallops. Wrap bacon around scallop and secure with a toothpick. Put them in the oven on a baking sheet with tinfoil on bottom--google for time/temp. and you have amazing, savory appetizers. Leave steaks out until room temp-salt and pepper and spread butter on both sides. Sear in iron frying pan for a few seconds-say 10-15, put in 450 degree oven and turn the oven off when you put steaks in. Leave for about 15 minutes. Again, google for proper temp and time for the size of your steaks. There, you have fresh steak and scallops. You can now afford some champagne because you did it yourself and it actually tastes good and you spent a whole lot less. read more

0 stars if I could. I placed an order on 12/18 for a gift card. At checkout, website prompts you to choose a delivery date. The delivery date was 12/26. It did not arrive on this date. 12/27 still nothing, so I reached out first via email. The initial response I was given was that it will come in 8-10 days. I chose a delivery date, not a ship date, and this is not in line with what the order confirmation said. Additionally, I was told I'd receive an email with tracking information, which I also did not receive. So I demanded the shipping confirmation information, to which I was told there was none. She did, the only thing I will say in their credit, offer to send an email version of it. However, I did not order an email, and don't feel comfortable sending an email as a gift. Ok, so if you can't prove it was sent, and it hasn't shown up, cancel the order. There was no further response at this point, so I called. After a series of arguments with various nasty reps who just talked around me in circles, denying their ability to cancel it, I was able to prove that they could indeed cancel, since I was offered an email version of it. This means you have record of the gift card #, and can void it and refund me. The manager on the line said fine, and hung up on me in a final grand display of her professionalism.
