I love sushi and I love this spot between terminals where 30 years ago lived an awesome oyster bar. What could possibly go wrong? The safest thing to order at a fast-food sushi place is a heavily spiced roll. So I ordered the most expensive fresh nigiri. Actually it was ok, not great. But I'll tell you-- for $24 the fresh tuna is not supposed to be brown around the edges. Tasted ok but I'll update later if the runs start an hour from now at 35,000 feet. A great find in Ohare. This is hidden at the end of the terminal and thankfully isn't so busy. You have to like sushi and similar foods, but that was good for me. The absolute worst. Sushi was decent. Nothing special but nothing bad. The manage meant was a lazy, dull, lifeless dude doing inventory with no care in the world about helping the server. She proceeds to tell us, when we had to flag down the busser for chopsticks/napkin/water... that "all of you people that show up at closing time get the worst service!" Haha. And laughs. Usually at an airport, I default to fast food restaurants as all of the other restaurants are overpriced and or not good. This place is no exception. We got one sushi and an udon. The sushi was the Spanish Dynamite which costed a whopping $17. The sushi was good, but wasn't great. The udon was the most reasonably priced item on the menu. After ordering, the server came back 10 minutes later to tell us that they weren't making it anymore. After the sushi came out, they magically came out with the udon. It was cool that they split the udon into two separate bowls for us to share. The server was pretty decent. She was able to answer any questions I had. She was able to get us the udon we ordered and went out of her way to have it split for us which is a plus in my book. The hostess is ehh. We were ignored for the most part and ended up seating someone else behind us first. Probably should have just left then. I do not recommend this place for food as it is definitely overpriced airport food. There are plenty of other better options around the airport at a more reasonable price. read more

We had three hours to kill at O'Hare and so we decided to try to figure out what the best dining option there was. Turns out, it's not Wicker Park. Don't get me wrong... it was fine. We still managed to spend more than $100 on sushi. But it wasn't amazing and that's the type of spend I generally associate with a really good sushi dinner. So let's see. Wicker Park is a pretty slick looking restaurant, kind of right in the middle of one of the key junctures between terminals with a cool neon and blue look to it that invites you in. We were seated along the back side of the sushi bar, next to a window where we could look out at some planes coming and going from the gate. That sounds like a great spot except that we were at a table with two very big oversized chairs (great) and one tiny too-short end table between us. It made eating sushi a bit difficult and was honestly pretty awkward. Our waitress was a very nice lady but she just was not a great waitress. She took eons to do anything, including coming over to greet us initially. She actually suggested she put our drinks on the bar when we ran out of space on our midget size table. But she did get the job done and we weren't in a hurry. But if we had been, I probably would have lost my mind. Beer wise, not impressive. I think I ordered a Stella, so yeah. Food wise, it was fine. We had to stare at the menu quite awhile because there weren't a lot of rolls that were even appealing to us. The best thing we got was the Hawaiian roll. They did honor my request to make it with seaweed (I hate soy paper rolls). It was tasty and unique. We also got a salmon avocado (you have to ask to add the avo), tuna avocado and a couple of other things but none of which were particularly memorable. I was not impressed with the selection offered for nigiri and really only felt like the Hawaiian roll was worth the big spend on a specialty roll (fortunately, that one was worth the money). So certainly, this would be a better option than random greasy airport food. But I also don't think this ranks in terms of the best sushi places I've eaten, but the prices were on par with our favorite sushi places here at home for a lot less bang. I might still stop at Wicker Park again if I'm hanging at O'Hare in the future. But I might also keep on walking to find another option or just go get some Garrett's. read more

However, it came out really hot and I could really appreciate that because it was really crowded and it could've easily not have. This is literally the best sushi I've eaten at the airport. And unlike other airport food joints they have enough seating space and keep the queue moving pretty quick. I've been here twice and both times I was able to get a seat, seat and leave within 45 minutes- that's generally the amount of time I'll have handy while eating at the airport All their rolls are really good- my personal favorite was spicy dynamite roll. They have a night roll that's good too. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their rolls or sashimis. 1. Knives highly restricted at the airport. If you look, all the knives are chained to the station. So... all the sushi you have is pre cut at a commissary facility far away. 2. We ordered the bulgogi bowl (beef, rice and veg) and add an egg. Shouldn't be that hard, right? For $19, I'm not complaining about it. It's the airport and things are expensive. Get over it. What I am pissy about is the fact that the rice bowl was ice cold. There was zero effort to heat the beef, the rice was lukewarm (from the sushi on the table) and ice cold everything (again from this sushi bar) Beef is mealy, over cooked and had zero anything. A beer and a bowl of rice was $35. I get it. It's an airport. Food is subpar and prices are high, talent is hard to get and so on. I'm ok with this being a 4 star experience as the staff is performing to spec. The crappy rating is for the fact the manager behind the counter was touching food with his bare hands after touching common paperwork (right next to the sake stand) sans a wash and gloves aka "Mr Sabah." Waitstaff were touching their faces, noses, mouth, even one was looking at her mouth through an iPhone. Eww. We had about 1 1/2 hours before our flight, wanted to grab lunch, but didn't want the usual airport fare of pizza or McDonald's. Wicker Park had a few open stools vs. the nearby chain restaurant that was packed, so we decided to come here. After looking at the menu, we both decided on the udon, or hot Japanese noodle soup. I ordered the beef udon while my partner had the chicken. To be frank, it took a lot longer than expected for our food to arrive, certainly longer than it should have considering the place wasn't full of patrons on this day and it's just a soup, and considering we were in an airport where most diners are on a time schedule to eat and catch their flights. Our meals were good and reasonably priced at $12 for the chicken and $14 for the beef udon, especially considering it's airport food which can be overpriced and lackluster at times. read more

Service is friendly and efficient and they are aware that most people are dining for a short time while catching their flights. The prices weren't THAT bad for being in an airport. The specialty rolls are a bit pricey (again, to be expected for an airport sushi bar) but the regular rolls were surprisingly, reasonably priced. The hostess was the most attentive person of the staff. After I received my water, I was basically ignored. Luckily I already knew I wanted the spicy tuna roll so I was able to order that along with my water. The spicy tuna roll was a bit small but tasted good. I can't really complain about that besides the fatty pieces that weren't trimmed out. I also ordered the Philadelphia roll but couldn't eat it. I've been here many times, as there are surprisingly few quality sit-down-and-be-served restaurants at the airport. The food is always fine and so is the service, but if this restaurant existed outside of the airport, I would probably never visit. Prices are a bit steep in my opinion, but after all it's in an airport and ORD shops are not afraid to let you know that you're a captive audience.
