Enjoying some Singaporean food in the winter felt odd. First time having Singapore food since our trip to Singapore. Laksa was one the top dish to try in Singapore but it was too hot and idk why I didn't order it in Toronto during the cold... so I shall come back. Instead we got a bunch of items to share. The beef rendang and roast chicken rice were my top picks. The beef was tender and portions were generous; strong lemongrass flavour which I absolutely loved. The roast chicken rice was also perfectly seasoned and tender, paired nicely with the flavoured rice. I'd come back just for the roast chicken dish. The char kway teow was not shy of wok hei, a classic. Kaya toast was delish as always but wish the toast was cut thinner. We were excited to try this Singapore restaurant after reading so many great things. Came on a Tuesday evening to have the whole place to our own for most of the meal. Got to chat with the owners whom were so friendly and inviting, Had the fried turnip cake, laksa and nasi lemak. All three dishes were the best we've had in Toronto. They have instructions at the entrance to wait at the door until seated, then order at the counter, pay, and grab your utentils. The server will call you when the food is ready so you can pick it up at the counter. Despite some people leaving poor reviews for this, I actually love this type of cafe/eatery style service! The decor is super cute, and everything on the menu looks good. I had the Laksa noodles and my friend ordered the beef rendeng. The rendang was soft and easy to tear apart. But the Laksa was outstanding, with a very flavourful broth. The tofu puffs in it act as sponges to soak up all the liquid and become a flavour bomb. My sister and I LOVE Singporean food (it really is the best)! We were super excited to check out kiss my pans. We got the carrot cake and it is SOOOO DELICIOUS. It actually is not carrot cake but it is turnip and rice flour. It is the perfect blend of flavours and it is the perfect dish to get if your craving something a bit salty. We also got their Singaporean breakfast which was their runny eggs with kaya toast, and kopi. It was super delicious and I would recommend it. It was my buddy and i first time. We came for brunch and was blown away. He had the roast chicken with rice and I had the laksa. The bowl of laksa was bursting with flavor.. it actually punch me in the throat with how much flavor it was...so good. I tried a piece of my buddy roast chicken I kid you not the skin was so good!!!. Kiss My Pans started out as a cheese shop with a few Singaporean food offered occasionally. There was so much support for their Singaporean food that it became regularly offered. Now that they have moved their operations to a new location with a fill kitchen in the back and lots of indoor seating, they can now offer an expanded menu every day! The owners, Jeanne and David, worked the front of the restaurant with excellent customer service. You place your order at the order counter, and they will bring out the food to your table. We were there on 2023-11-04 and ordered the following: 1. Kopi ($4.80) x 2. 2. Milo Dinasour with a heap of Milo Powder ($5.00). 3. Tingkat Trio ($25.00). This came with Ngoh Hiang, Har Cheong Gai, and Tauhu Goreng. 4. Hokkien Mee ($22.00) with a side of Sambal ($2.00). 5. Roti Prata with Curry Chicken ($24.00). Kopi is the southeast Asian adaptation of coffee. The main version of Kopi is made with Condensed Milk and Evaporated Milk. There are variations of this Kopi, offered at this restaurant: Kopi C, Kopi O, and Kopi O Kosong. We had the pure Kopi, and it was good. Milo is a favourite drink in Singapore, especially among children. I like it, since I'm a big kid at heart. The Tingkat Trio is like an appetizer meant for sharing. The top layer contains a sweet soya sauce for dipping with the Ngoh Hiang (in the second layer), which is shrimp, pork, and water chestnut rolls wrapped in bean curd skin. The third layer has Tauhu Goreng, which is deep tofu, bean sprout, and shredded cucumber, in a spicy peanut sauce. Goreng means fried. The fourth and bottom layer has the Har Cheong Gai, which is shrimp paste marinated crispy wings and legs. It was definitely crispy and tasty. The Curry Chicken had a very tasty curry surrounding the succulent chicken. You usually dip the Roti Prata into the curry. Roti Prata is the Singaporean name for Roti Canai in Malaysia. This is the Malay adaptation of the Indian Paratha Roti. There is a whole cabinet that contains glasses for you to get your own water. The restaurant is decorated with Singaporean memorabilia and items for sale. This location soft-opened on 2023-11-03 to 05. The grand opening will be on 2023-11-10. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is not wheelchair accessible (there is one step at the entrance). There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, hence they are not wheelchair accessible. Had a lovely time at Kiss My Pans new location! I had tried some of their food (beef rendang and savoury carrot cake) from past food festivals and pop-ups. I recently came at peak lunch hour on a Saturday, so a queue was expected. Luckily it was sunny out, and our table of 2 was fine waiting outside. (Shop and dining area is lean so there's no space to wait inside.) After a 30 min wait, we were called inside. Owners are very warm and welcoming. David helped explain how things worked (it was our first visit) and we quickly ordered at the counter and paid, and then sit at our table waiting for our hot meal. After you order, you get served baked goods first -- as that is served at the counter. Soon, my Kopi C with oat milk followed -- which was so smooth and delicious with my Kueh Bakar! Shortly, our hot food items were ready and we grabbed our trays from the counter. The beautiful Tingkat Trio was as tasty as it was gorgeous! Each dish (Har Cheong Gai, Ngoh Hiang, and Tauhu Goreng) are unique flavour bombs and such a delight of different taste and textures. We also got the Roasted Chicken Rice which was a comforting dish, reminicent of Hainanese Chicken for me but with crispy skin. Kiss My Pans, located on College St at Manning Ave., is a cheese shop that is owned by a lovely couple, Jeanne and David. I believe Jeanne lived in Singapore for a while before she moved back to Toronto. The shop also has Singaporean brunch available from Sat to Mon in a fast casual atmosphere. The store also has a variety of unique items (mainly food related) that you can pick up as well. They also have boxes and platters you can preorder for pick up as well. I've heard of Kiss My Pans for the longest time now and was able to try some of their delicious Singaporean desserts at a food popup last year. However, I finally had the chance to visit to try their brunch. Upon entering you drawn to the space with many items. I ordered my food and drink at the counter and took a seat. I opted for the nasi lemak with otak otak (coconut rice, spicy coconut fish grilled in banana leaf, Sambal, spiced peanut, and ikan bills (anchovy), egg, and cucumber as well as a kopi. Decided to get a kueh salat as well for dessert. My food was made at a reasonable time and the nasi lemak was delicious! Definitely a hearty and filling dish that is spicy as well. I don't think there is any wrong way to eat this dish but the different flavor combinations and textures are unique. It is quite spicy so if you aren't able to handle spice it is better to likely order something else. The cup of kopi was warm and inviting. The kueh salat was a great finish to the meal. Overall, great food and super friendly service. The space and all the little things in the shop reminded me of my travels to Singapore. Growing up in Asia made me miss some of the singaporean goodies I used to eat during my travels then. Finding this kopitiam was a little happy dance moment. The iced kopi and kaya toast tasted like how i remembered :) Though tasted different, the nasi lemak was good for when you miss nasi lemak. The business primarily offers Singaporean coffee (kopi), charcuterie platters, and a huge assortment of cheese. It's with how the lovely couple that runs it shares their well-traveled passion for food. Case in point is Sunday breakfast. Kiss My Pans offers a Singaporean style breakfast of kopi with eggs kaya toast (that kaya was chef's kiss sweet) and lontong (a rich and spicy soup with a whole lot of rice cakes, veggies and seafood). We had this along with a truffle brie toastie (oozing with cheese, will definitely come back for more), orange chocolate scone (properly crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside), pineapple tart (delightfully strong flavour), and kueh salat (pandan flavoured treat). I love getting the tingkat trio, the tins are super cute and the food inside is a little surprise even though they tell you what's inside on the menu lol. I enjoyed both tofu dishes and the crispy chicken wings. The restaurant decor and vibe is reminiscent of Asia however it did feel cooler with a draft on a winter day. some others had their jackets on and I think they could have had the heat on higher. I gave them 4/ 5 stars for this reason and because for the prices you pay, I would have hoped it's full service rather than self-serve. read more

I can't say I was super familiar with Kiss My Pans before eating there, but when I heard that it was considered a hot new restaurant, I was immediately intrigued. We showed up around 11:00 on a recent Saturday and the tiny place was already half full. (And by the time we left, there was a waiting list for tables, so show up early!) We figured we should probably share a few things, but choosing two items from a menu full of delicious-sounding items was no easy feat. (As an aside, the menu is infuriatingly not online, so I can't offer up an exact description of what we ate.) We wound up getting the Roasted Chicken Rice and the Char Kway Teow. The former is a solid interpretation of a classic Asian dish, although nothing about it blew me away. The latter is a tasty noodle dish that's enhanced by an included bowl of hot sauce. I'll be honest, I enjoyed the food but the price point ($68 including tax and tip!) is a little insane, considering you can get similar dishes at any number of Asian restaurants around the city and for a whole lot less. I'm thinking maybe we ordered poorly, but in our defense, when we asked the guy behind the counter what we should've gotten, he basically said everything on the menu is good. Oh well. read more

It's hard to find places in Toronto that serve food from Singapore and Malaysia... let me rephrase... that serve GOOD food. I'm so glad I was introduced to Kiss My Pans. It's a shop that sells cheese and goodies, and over the weekends, it serves food. My taste of Singapore is a breakfast of black carrot cake, washed down with the traditional kopi. The black carrot cake isn't actually made of carrots, more like white radish. There is a choice of white carrot cake that is sweet, and the black one is a combination of sweet and savory. They only serve it on Mondays as a side note. For those who can go on Mondays, lucky you because it tastes amazing, especially dipped in sambal. The kopi (coffee) tastes authentic like the ones in Singapore. Thankfully it's not watery. The owners were super nice and gave great recommendations. So glad they decided to sell more than just cheese!!. Last but not least, the shop is super nicely decorated, which allows you to take great pictures. I think my camera was reluctant to stop. It's not a huge place, reminds me of a mom and pop shop, super cute with nice decorations, they also have a few tables outside when the weather is nice. Been seeing this one on Instagram and actress Michelle Yeow raves about this place as well, so we drove down to check it out, but unfortunately on a Saturday afternoon, it was quite busy with an hour + wait time, so we ordered take out instead, which was pretty good speed. It took around 15 mins to get our takeout order for a busy, not that many tables but still. Here was what we ordered: 2x Kopi (condense milk & evaporated milk-cold/hot)- $4.80 each - The hot one appears to taste a little different compared to the cold one. Cold one taste not strong at all and a bit watered down. Not sure what kind of beans they use, but I don't recall Kopi tasting like this in Singapore in general. 1x Carrot Cake (there is black & white version), we ordered black- $14 with sambal sauce- $2 extra. Its basically kind of like turnip chopped up in chunky pieces with egg, green onion, dark sauce of sort. The taste is good, but the sambal sauce has decent taste too, but for paying $2, you literally get a teaspoon portion in your takeout little container sauce. 1x Hor Fun- $22- Rice noodle with egg sauce, shrimp, chicken or pork slices, bok choy with a side of chopped jalapeno pickled sauce. I've had quite a bit of Hor Fun in other Malaysian cuisine like, and this one was a bit disappointing. Not saucy enough, and not sure why its bok choy used as well. Not the worst, but likely average. 1x Nasi Lemak- $18- rice, anchovies, peanuts, otak otak (fish paste of sort), half a boiled egg. This is the national dish from Malaysia in general. The taste is decent, but again, we've had better elsewhere. For the price point its okay but not something to get next time. 1x Beef Rendang- $24- Rice, beef, potato, half boiled egg. - Personally this one was their better dish for the price point. The beef was decently tender. Maybe some of these dishes will taste better if you eat in. In terms of ranking from best to worst, I'd say is Carrot Cake, Beef Rendang, Nasi Lemak, Hor Fun. I know this is Singaporean cuisine and not Malaysian and all, but these dishes are also available in Malaysian restaurant as well. Probably not the carrot cake though. They do carry items that are hard to find in other shops such as the kueh as those are usually sold out at the other Singaporean or Malay shops I have checked out. My favourite dish is the kuay teow and they make their own sambal chilli which is really tasty as well! Found this cute cafe/cheese/charcuterie corner shop. I got a Kopi (butter roasted Singaporean coffee with condensed milk & evaporated milk). It was delicious with a strong coffee flavour and not overly sweet like viet coffees. The truffle Brie toast smelled heavenly and tasted yummy. It's a vegetarian sandwich with some pickles with a smear of some kind of cranberry type jam. Lovely Singaporean breakfast on Sundays. I was most excited about Kaya toast (my favourite!) but the eggs ended up being my fave. The otah was fantastic too. I can't wait for more Singaporean treats being served by this darling shop!
