Good fishbowls and good vibes overall. They have taco tuesday as well, with a $30 margarita fishbowl and $2 tacos. The inside is spacious and actually quite nice which is surprising for a college spot.

Went here on a Friday night and I wasn't to crowded on the dance floor which was a good thing . DJ played really good music . I ordered some bites to eat which was totchos and deviled eggs both were good . I would definitely be back to party . Security was very friendly as well

Came here on a Friday night! This bar is a nice bar with friendly staff. They have reasonable priced drinks. They have this huge fishbowl looking drink that you can just put straws in and share with everyone. The crowd doesn't start coming until 11:00pm. This is bar serves food to about 11pm. They serve hamburgers, fries, and nachos. They also have a dance floor and a pool table in the back. They also have big screen TV by the bar and by the pool table area where you can watch the game. Parking is across the street in the parking lot because it can get pretty busy so parking is a challenge. Parking in the garage is $4. So not too bad. Overall, a friendly place to hang out at Berkeley, especially if you are the younger crowd.

Okay, like there is fun and there is "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" whatever that means. That is what "Kip's" is, that long word. This is a fun place and worth all the hype and praise I've heard from people that visit Downtown Berkeley. "Kip's" seems like the best bars and lounges have to offer all rolled into one. You got the "Tiki Bar", "Dive Bar", "Beer Garden" and "Lounge". I feel that's what makes the vibe here so good, something for everyone. Allow me to tell you why this place is great for Downtown Berkeley and the College Crowd. Thursday July 26, 2018 Location: Kip's Berkeley, Can People: 2 Adults Story: As I mentioned in my 2 previous reviews (read them) I was on a mission to explore life and new things, and to boldly go where "Yelpers" have gone before. I was with a homie of mine and Downtown Berkeley was the destination. Going with the flow and "Yelp Reviews" of course. We made our way hoping to find something fun to do. Let's just say "Kip's" was stop №2 Service/Hospitality: The service was pretty good, it really started to pick up fast and that didn't change the staff. They seemed well versed at handling a rush, very timely and we'll mannered. I would have to say service was pretty good, even from the bouncers outside. Definitely a good first impression, I was satisfied. Drinks/Cleanliness: I didn't want to overdue it as I did have to work the next day and had already had a drink or two at "Pappy's" just before. So....I started off with a "Flight" $8.00, honestly their beer/ale selection was pretty basic compared to most places. But the fact I could get this offering at a cool price.....I decided to get another one. Their "flight" was four 4oz beers/ale. I choose my beer selections based from tart to heavy. I later had a "Gin and Juice" $6.00, Hendrick's for my gin and orange juice for my..juice. A great pour that wasn't too heavy handed and drinkable. The "Fish Bowl" $35.00 I didn't try but will attempt one day when I don't have to work the next day..with friends of course. I did use the restroom and surprisenly it was clean, boys restrooms sometimes are horrible, this one wasn't. Pretty cool "Kip's" pretty cool. Overall: I liked "Kip's" and I recommend it. Based off my experience, they have everything this I really look for when I go to a bar. They have a dj here Thursday - Saturday and a dancefloor area they also have ample seating for those that just want to chillout and have a few drinks and talk to friends or what not. Prefect for the college student, the prices here are pretty decent and also it's right in the midst of everything happening in Downtown Berkeley. If you haven't gone, I say go. But make sure you have that ride share app ready to take you home.

They have a variety of different beer flavors available through dispensers where you simply tap your card and pour as much or as little as you'd like while keeping track of the total $$. Our group shared one card and asked for four cups so everyone could sample different beers, which made it a really fun tasting experience. It's a great way to try multiple options without committing to a full pint of something you're unsure about. For food, we ordered the pizza, chicken tikka masala, naan, and tamarind chili black ribs. The ribs in particular had a nice balance of sweet and tangy flavors. However, the portions felt small for the price point, which was the biggest drawback of the meal. While the food was good, it didn't quite match the value of the drinks and atmosphere. Tap in lounge is a solid place to grab drinks and hang with friends. Just be prepared for food portions that are a bit smaller than expected for what you're paying.

There is a hidden, speakeasy style door that leads to the restrooms and bar taps tucked in the back, which adds to the overall experience. We stuck with cocktails, and they were strong and alcohol forward. We tried the Sipping Into Darkness and the Cane and Cacao, both well made with bold flavors. These are not light, overly sweet drinks, and may not be for everyone. Overall, a unique spot that stands out for its concept, but not necessarily somewhere I would go out of my way to return to.

Usually, my grey beard and state-issued digital license are good enough for people -- and at one point people at Triple Rock recognized me -- but not that day. I ordered beer through the impersonal QR code menu but was told I couldn't have it when it arrived. When I asked for my money back, I got a shrug and promise to check with the manager. Eventually, I was told it was refunded, but it never actually was. Two attempts to get them to correct the problem have gone into a black hole. Decent food menu, even have a decent veggie burger. They've got some nice veggie appetizers, cauliflower, fake chicken tender thingies, and a nice pretzel. Probably the best pretzel I've ever had. Lotsa interesting folks come up in here, and there's some daily regulars, a real mixed bag , fun people. I met a couple people that turned out to be my good friends for the last few years. Attached is a concert hall that has some pretty interesting live music acts and very diverse from hip hop to jazz to funk to rock and roll and that dark sider stuff, heavy metal, etc. They rent the whole joint out if you have a party or they rent sections as well. Great spot for wedding rehearsal dinners, high school reunions, company parties, etc. Stimulating conversation abounds and a lot of laughter bouncing off the walls. A great place to see sporting events, especially the Warriors. Very nice patio as well with big umbrellas and fire pit. There is an odd set up as you have to go to the bar to get your drinks each time you want something. The downside could be long lines as they don't have table service but they bring you stuff. They don't take orders from the table. Some kind of crowd control thing? Or mis management or local rules? At any rate, it is a fun hang out with killer bartenders and servers. I went to see the visual kei, Japanese rock band, JILUKA, here with my boyfriend and we lined up beforehand for VIP. The staff walked out, showed us the rules for the VIP that was printed on a piece of paper and explained it to us too, they walked down the line to scan us in as well. Venue itself is pretty neat. The front part is a bar area with lots of tables and seating and outdoor seating as well. Since it was before the concert, we were able to enjoy some food and drinks from the bar and kitchen. It was also during their Happy Hour too which was great. My boyfriend got a drink (not sure what it was, but it was refreshing and citrus tasting?) and we shared a Bavarian soft pretzel with mustard and we got the white cheddar dipping sauce added on for a nominal fee. One of the best pretzels that I've ever had! Deliciously soft interior, nice chew to the texture of the exterior. Comes out hot, warm and delicious. Great on it's own, but great with the sauces too. Perfect dash of the coarse salts on it. I'd get this again for sure and would like to one day order more from their menu. The live house music area is in the back in a separate room. Restrooms were clean too. Enough space for the bands to sell their merch and do a meet and greet. Wasn't a huge venue and insane turn out, but it fit the crowd and I liked how intimate setting was. I was around 3-4 rows from the front and even with a mosh pit and wall of death, I was able to shift around and see the band more clearly. Easy visibility no matter where I was shifted around. Lighting was pretty good and made it easy to take pictures and video. I think the vocals were a bit more muffled than the rest of the band members playing, but that might just be the set up more than anything. Of all the venues I stopped by for the week, this had the most approachable and friendly staff. Greeted going and as we were leaving too. I didn't overheat at this one either, so the AC was A+!! There's paid parking nearby but if you read the signs and go around, you can get free street parking too. Bring more J-rock/over seas acts here, it was so good!
