Product 5/5 In-store experience: 4/5 A cool minimalistic, and aesthetic Japanese homeware store at the ROW in downtown LA. My roommate and I have built up a dang collection of Kinto goods in our apartment. We take pride in our Kinto products in our living space. We have some cups, bamboo plates, a teapot, and bowls. I would look them up on their website, but there are too many products. They have some expensive and then some affordable alternatives at the store. The store layout is simple, and all home goods are laid out on tables with QR codes that take you to their online catalog of that specific line of products. But I recommend calling them if you want a product in-store. I wanted a bowl, and they were sadly sold out of it. According to their employee, they have stock issues with products since they are mainly an online store.

Such beautiful homeware goodies! After getting my hands on two of their plant pots, I made it my personal mission to visit their physical store. Everything is beautifully minimalistic, aesthetic, and functional! Their products are simply gorgeous and affordable as well. Will be filling up my home with all things Kinto! The interior of the store is also beautifully designed! Very calming with lots of stone and touches of greenery.

A cute Japanese shop in ROW DTLA! It's crazy that EVERYTHING is aesthetic and minimal. They primarily have ceramics, utensils, and glassware. Great for amplifying your kitchen decor or getting some new practical pieces for your home. They have tea sets that are great for single use. There's also adorable kid's utensils, sippy cups, and dinner sets! Everything seems to be on the pricey side from what I saw, so keep that in mind if you have a budget. Their prices and inventory are all on their website as well.

They close during random hours. Better not to even bother with this place.

Update: Following a conversation with KINTO, they've let me know the store will be open during lunch hours and other people who choose to go should find the store open during posted hours. I love KINTO products, but the store is managed pretty poorly. The hours are inconsistent. If you're interested and decided to go during their business hours, they may be open and they may not. It just depends on when they felt like taking lunch or any other trivial reason that they might need to lock the door. Additionally, if you're going because you love their products and want to buy them, you'll be wasting your time. This is only a showroom. The company itself has a website where their products are widely available. The store doesn't or barely carries any stock and won't help you order anything you do like. The existence of this showroom is pretty pointless. The worst part about it is that the people here will lie directly and make up excuses like that their products are "all brought in from Japan." when wooden products are all made in China and that I must be mistaken because they're always open during regular hours, but the attached photo shows them closed "for lunch"

I love these types of stores so it would've been easy for me to spend lots of money there but I held back! Worth it if you're looking for any sort of unique baking supply.

There are a number of reasons why the Culver City location was so much better, but perhaps the main drawback at this LA location is the fact that the former had a real sense of ambiance, and uniqueness, particularly when it came to its cozy little cafe section. Now the "cafe" is pretty much just a space within a space. Another real draw to the Culver City location was the fact that they actually had a separate section where "Guest Chefs" could come in and teach entire classes via cooking classes that sometimes you have to sign up for in advance, and other times you could just kind of walk in on it. That was dope! And while the staff was friendly enough, and again ( don't get me wrong it's still a place that I will be back to to purchase much needed product), it's just an unfortunate reality that sometimes no....you can't duplicate the past.

STORE ATTENDANCE There is only one person/party allowed in the store at a time. If you're familiar with this small family-owned hardware store, you'll know that there isn't much room for too many people anyway. For precautions of health, just one at a time in the store. SILLY GIFT PURCHASE: Even if you want a simple silly, but useful kitchen gift for your friends, you will probably find something here. From reading the low star reviews, I think you need to only purchase items that you don't care about returning. Come here to buy various 'cheaper' and fun items like inside House slippers, kitchen and home goods (especially plastic items). There are many more upscale kitchen cookware, knives that are European brands. the 2nd floor has larger $$$ electronic items, where it may riskier shopping. I feel like for expensive items, you'd be better off shopping at typical store where there is generous return policy, a la Target, Kohls. I've never seriously checked out their blanket and bedding section, but Korean blankets are supposed to be the bomb- mattress bedding that is super cooling and lightweight. I can only shop here on rare occasions that I make the long drive to K-town, so for me it's fun treasure hunt shopping, and I know I won't be able to return anything easily. This is also a great store to shop for cute gifts. The workers prob. can understand English, but don't expect American style customer service, that's not what you're coming for in older classic K-town businesses.
