The Kinsmen is a mix of college bar and townie bar with enough room for anyone to mingle. Good fries, and a Jolly Rancher tasting shot makes me a fan. If you're looking for a fun shot, they have a house shot, which I forget the name of. It has "in the head" in the name I believe, but if you tell them it's that shot that tastes like a Jolly Rancher and comes with a straw, I'm sure they'll know what you mean. This is a little more than your average townie bar. Don't get me wrong, it has plenty of regulars, but it's not one of those place where people stare at you when you walk in the door. They've got tons of seating both at the bar and at tables and on a bench that lines the bar. They also have a giant stuffed animal in the corner that I'm sure people do dirty things to when they're drunk. They've got a jukebox, pool tables, foozeball tables, and they make some pretty darn good fries. I've only been once, but I walked out with about 10 new friends, which in my opinion, makes this a fun place to be.

Literally got kicked out because we weren't drinking anymore and they wanted open seats. Very rude.

We always play a good game of Keno and play songs on the jukebox most the night.

Staff was very friendly and genuinely interesting to talk to the most recent time I visited. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, with sexy, low mood lighting, trendy flower decor on the tables, even quirky and fun wallpaper in the bathrooms. The cocktail list is unique and has a little something for everyone. My drink had notes of rose which I found so different and delightful, though I ordered mine without egg white in it since I can't quite get into that cocktail ingredient trend. Everyone I've brought here has enjoyed their drink - glassware is pretty and photogenic but I do feel the portions are on the smaller side. What a great, "vibey" little spot to take a date, a friend on a bar crawl or quick afternoon catch up, and so on! Lots of other great stops in this plaza too, you could make a whole day out of this area without ever having to move your car. I feel I've traveled somewhere far away and a little exotic when I come here - a class act that hasn't let me down yet.

I went with the ahi tuna platter, which was set up almost like a charcuterie board, and it was excellent. Also grabbed a clam chowder, because... New England, and it did not disappoint. Caught the fourth quarter of the game, and the place had a great vibe. Crowd was lively, staff was friendly, and everything was clean and comfortable. If I end up back in that area again, I'll make sure to swing by a little earlier so I can check out the full menu. Solid spot all around.

The drink menu was not very extensive. Our Asian salad cups appetizer tasted exactly like an Asian salad mix I've bought at the grocery store and looked like it too - I'm convinced that's exactly how they prepared this. My veggie burger had burnt edges and wasn't too enjoyable flavor-wise. It didn't help my overall impression that when I got takeout here another time, they totally butchered my boyfriend's name when we ordered over the phone, and we had a hard time picking up our order because of this (how you get "Stephanie" from "Anthony," I just really don't know). I think this place just gets lucky having a good location across from Independence Park and being close to but just out of the way from downtown. Can't say I was impressed by the food - there are too many other good options in Bristol, I just can't say I'd recommend this to others. Perhaps it's improved since I visited, but it's a pass for me based on experiences I've had.

At first I really liked this place and probably would've left a five stars-- before I explain more,…read moreI do still think it's worth popping by for a casual bite. The burger I ordered (bacon cheeseburger with no bacon) was delicious. No complaints there and I will probably reorder. The only problem here was that I asked for sweet potato fries instead of regular fries, to which the waiter simply said okay. Turns out it was an undisclosed upcharge. Not only did he not tell me it would be $2.75 (or something like that) more, but the fries are listed as the same price online. When I told him that, he said that their online menu is really old (this is to say, don't look at it! and also, not sure why they wouldn't update it if they know it's incorrect). Sure enough, the printed menu also said nothing about an upcharge for a different fry, so ultimately I was able to remove the charge, but it was a little awkward and frustrating. My only other complaint is not particularly the fault of the restaurant, but I suppose just a side effect of the laidback vibes. A group of 7 or 8 people came in like 20 minutes after us and was so loud that I almost suggested we leave. My guess is they were drunk, but it was a Wednesday night around 6:00, so I wouldn't have expected that. They were so loud that I was yelling to my friend who was within arm's length. Totally changed the vibe and enjoyment for me.

The biggest surprise this time was a brand new food menu. Much improved and has more contemporary take on the bar food. Gotta try other items on the emenu The service was great. Usually is. Maybe extra attentive because it was a Monday night. Anyways, its a good time nevertheless.
