I love old theatres but this one definitely needs a huge upgrade. Don't let the outside/lobby fool you. It's charming, but once you go inside, you'll be hit with a basement/gross washroom smell. The regular popcorn also goes for $7 - not cheap but I guess that's how they keep the theatre running. Unfortunately, as the first ones in... my boyfriend spotted a mouse. That eventually made us look all everything else - the ruined walls, the random areas of storage (covered with tarp), the vent on the floor in the middle of the theatre... we didn't take off our jackets and sat with our feet up the whole time. I wouldn't return.

Great little theater good for a quiet little date when you don't mind some old movies and don't want the crowd from a big box store. I watched a movie (almost a short film) that's not even available at Cineplex. The theater I was in only had 28 seats available and on a holiday (Family Day) it was not even full. There are other rooms of course with larger screens and more seats but the small theater was surprisingly comfy. The audio and visual cannot be compared with Cineplex but you get what you paid for. The good thing is, they serve alcohol (beer, wine etc.) and you're allowed to bring it into the theater. If you compare the price of that and the Cineplex VIP, you're definitely gaining there. I see that people gave this place a low grade because of multiple horrible experiences with the owner. I personally did not get the honour to meet the person so I can't speak for it and thus my review does not reflect on it. Overall, it's a nice little place to spend some quality time with a date so I'd definitely come back. There is meter parking just across the street.

So Kingsway theatre has super rude employees, the movies start over an hour late, the lobby smells like old grease and the theatre itself reeked like mold & sewage. We had to leave, and no apology whatsoever from the staff. It was hands down the worst theatre experience I've ever had. The girl working the cash and snack bar was incredibly sour and her male counterpart yelled at customers who asked why the movie was late, saying "I'm not going to have this discussion with you. If you don't want to be here, get a refund and leave!" If you are gonna pay to see a movie on the big screen, you may want to do it elsewhere. -edit- after I posted this review, the owner/manager felt compelled to message me some delightful words. And by delightful, I mean derogatory and mean. Good luck with that customer service!! ***UPDATE*** - just going to leave this here.... https://www.ebosscanada.com/canadian-actress-denied-access-to-kingsway-theatre-cops-called-owner-trolls-her-on-social-media/

I went there with my friends and it was a lot of fun. It's a cute retro theatre, and the food there is pretty good. Definitely recommend.

Also the seats I was in H12&13 with my sister, the rotating mini tables where you place your food did not rotate at all and it was stuck which sucked. Pros: - AC is great - Almost all of the staff were kind and helpful - If you watch at 9 pm or later, the crowds disappear - It's VIP, no babies or children Cons: - Received my drink as soon as the movie started - Talking during the movie and taking flash photos - The seats weren't cleaned, there was popcorn in my seat crevice. - There's only single washrooms, I guess around 12 at least. Which isn't enough if 2 showtimes conclude at the same time. - It's a small section, so it can get crowded if several shows finish at the same time - There's some wear and tear on the seats In conclusion, $60 for 2 before food isn't bad. I would visit again.

My first official screening at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival happened at Scotiabank Theatre. One of five venues used to showcase films during the festival, this multiplex housed the majority of all screenings among its 14 auditoriums with an approximate seating capacity range from 100-500. Formerly the Paramount Theatre Toronto, this complex opened in 1999 but was sold by the parent company Viacom to a group later to be named Cineplex Entertainment in 2005. The result was a rebranding of the name to Scotiabank Theatre Toronto under a sponsorship arrangement with Scotiabank. Would I scoot my way to the bank after the many films watched here!? PURCHASE(S) Regular Screening - "Maddie's Secret" ($29.00CAD): The world premiere of this film, I knew someone who worked on it, and it was shot in/around my Silver Lake hipsterhood, so I had to lend my support! The online ticket sales were a breeze once you found a film that wasn't sold out. The "Rush Line" sales were quick once tickets were released, and every human being I dealt with from festival staffers/volunteers to the concessions was nearly seamless - thank you! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I was constantly in the area all day throughout the Toronto International Film Festival, so I simply walked. Otherwise, there were spots along the many main and surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Generally speaking, this was your standard multiplex theatre filled with cushy cup holding reclining seats, very good sound system, and auditorium seating so no one blocked your view. Out of the theatres, you had a large concession stand, a separate Melts and Starbucks stand, in addition to a decent-sized bar dining area. There was a very long escalator https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=ncEHDOlawpLoISteQD6E6w that looked daunting. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large surrounding windows while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There weren't any TVs (except at the bar area) nor any background music, but there was plenty of chatter all around. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=Nr8c5z2Pj2Z0xJ0W6CE8Uw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent at Scotiabank Theatre and would definitely visit them again! Everything ran smoothly enough, there weren't any real hassles, the concession prices were standard with a more broad list of things to eat while the ticket prices were elevated as was the norm for a film festival. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $51.50CAD BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... We had planned to watch Fantastic Four during the last show and booked two special-needs seats online. Parking downtown already costs more than the tickets for two, but we were looking forward to a relaxing evening. About twenty minutes into the film, a staff member approached us to explain that one of the "seats" we had booked was not actually a chair at all, but the space reserved for a wheelchair. This crucial detail was never made clear on the booking site. Unlike other accessible venues--such as the TTC or most theatres--that allow guests to choose between using their own wheelchair or a provided seat, this cinema offered no alternative except an awkward mid-show refund. The situation was uncomfortable and completely ruined our night out. Although the management responded publicly on Google in a caring and professional tone, two follow-up emails since then have gone unanswered. I hope Imagine Cinemas takes accessibility concerns seriously and improves both its booking transparency and customer follow-up.

The whole day I was looking forward to going to the movie, but more specifically, to get their classic poutine to eat while watching the movie. I got to the theatre and the ticket scanning was pretty quick and smooth (I ordered my ticket online), and considering there was a line of about 4 people in front of me. I headed toward the washroom and it was pretty clean, there was also a cleaning staff member at here at the time. I headed to the concession counter and there were long lines here. I couldn't see the poutine list on the menu screen on the overhead but it's a VIP theatre so they must have poutine available. After a few minutes of waiting in line, it was my turn to order. I asked if I could order a poutine. The lady at the counter said I have to go around to the vip bar/food section to the left of us. That was kind of annoying, after waiting in this line. So I went to the correct area and ordered. They said it would take about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. It was ready in about 8. That was good. The poutine came in a large flat white takeout box. Typically at the other cineplex's I've been to, the poutine came in a smaller more compact brown takeout box. The one I received today felt very obnoxious when I opened it in the theatre and was eating it while the movie was playing. The lid was just so big and it stuck out. As for how the poutine was, the fires were good with a fair amount of cheese curds. However, the gravy was really thick and there was way too much of it. Because it was a big flat box they only put in a layer of fries so to me it seemed they over did it on the gravy because there was so much space in the box. Mind you, the box wasn't full (it would probably amount to the aforementioned small brown box at other locations). Ultimately, the gravy ruined it because I was getting globs of thick gravy. And it was different to scrap of or avoid it because I was in the dark. To conclude, if you're looking forward to a poutine to eat while at the movies, go to the scotiabank location.
