    Huge cinema!
    Maddy B.

My husband and I went to see the movie Smile here and it was my first time at this cinema. The Scotiabank theatre is in a really buzzing area with tons of food establishments in the surrounding vicinity so absolutely perfect for a good evening out! Armed with a hot coffee to keep me warm ( Tim Hortons is only outside) we headed in for the movie. Snacks are super expensive, as per normal, but there's some good deals for popcorn and treats. There's plenty to keep you entertained before or even after the movie with an arcade downstairs and plenty of snacks. The actual theatre is massive with tons of seating however we were sat quite high and didn't realize the screen isn't actually as big as the theatre. So I'd recommend sitting a little lower! Otherwise a great experience.

I have been to Scotiabank Theatre a number of times over the years. Most of the time, I'm here with a friend. I had one corporate event when I worked downtown, so I walked from Bay and Front over here. I have noticed recently that I tend to visit movie theatres with a bookstore close by. Chapters used to be next door to this theatre. It closed down years ago and has been replaced by a giant Michaels. Perhaps that's one reason why I haven't been to this one in ages. Last Thursday, I was in the area and parked in the lot connected to Scotiabank Theatre. Although I didn't take in a movie, I went over to the theatre to take a look. This place has one of the longer escalators that you'll find to get to and from the ticketing area and movie theatres. I have always enjoyed the ride up. I have been fortunate to not use the stairs up. I don't mind walking down them, though! This Cineplex is a wheelchair-accessible venue, from the theatres themselves, to the washrooms. The theatres are roomy for my liking. I hope that it's the case still. I don't recall any perks that I got from the corporate event. I don't even think that we got popcorn, which was a bummer. I love popcorn so much. I've never said no to getting popcorn here. I do like the parking lot. There's a maximum rate of $10 on weeknights. It's not bad if you plan on taking in a movie and having a bite to eat in the area. There are plenty of eateries to choose from. I haven't seen a movie in a theatre for nearly two years. I do have a coupon to take in one. Perhaps I should revisit my past viewing experiences and take in a movie here soon. (383)

It seems as though a lot of people don't like this theatre. I didn't have any issues. Right when you enter the building there is the rather intimidating set of stairs you can attempt to go up or maybe you feel like the escalator is more your thing. The stairs aren't that bad though ;). Upstairs you have the option of not speaking to another human to purchase your tickets at a machine or even on your phone. However I found that the staff that I got my tickets from wasn't that bad. He helped me with 2 free admissions and using my gift card. We didn't purchase any food from the concession stand but kinda regretted it in the theater when we could smell the butter wafting off other people's popcorn.

    Screen X handrail

Good thing that is not crowded. But screen X experience was not good; there is a handrail obstructing the view at side seats.

I don't know about others, but they have this amazing four flights of stairs that you can walk up and down. It was quite a leisurely experience. I suppose if you are unable to do stairs, it might become more a nightmare. I can't recall seeing an elevator. There's a huge drink machine that offers dozens of options. I also see them pizza and fries available for sale on top of the usual popcorn and drinks. Their chairs are also pretty comfortable.

This is my favourite movie theatre in the GTA. The entrance with the long escalators makes it a fun experience. Kids love it!

We had planned to watch Fantastic Four during the last show and booked two special-needs seats online. Parking downtown already costs more than the tickets for two, but we were looking forward to a relaxing evening. About twenty minutes into the film, a staff member approached us to explain that one of the "seats" we had booked was not actually a chair at all, but the space reserved for a wheelchair. This crucial detail was never made clear on the booking site. Unlike other accessible venues--such as the TTC or most theatres--that allow guests to choose between using their own wheelchair or a provided seat, this cinema offered no alternative except an awkward mid-show refund. The situation was uncomfortable and completely ruined our night out. Although the management responded publicly on Google in a caring and professional tone, two follow-up emails since then have gone unanswered. I hope Imagine Cinemas takes accessibility concerns seriously and improves both its booking transparency and customer follow-up.

She was performing most of her songs. She and her husband at the time, Ted Dykstra, also performed a few songs together. I knew what to expect seeing Melanie, who is a talented singer, and plays a number of instruments, including the violin, mandolin, and ukelele. I had attended a few shows of hers before this one. Ted had a rich voice that I had never heard before until this show. He also played the piano during this evening. I took a friend to see them. I parked at a lot nearby and we walked over. We had no problems finding the studio, which is on Front Street West. We presented out tickets and were let in. Staff were super helpful pointing us to where we were seated. The acoustics were decent. We both had a great time listening to them and sharing a bit of themselves with us. The seats were comfortable. We were there for 2.5 hours. It was an enjoyable night out. You do get to see a Glenn Gould sculpture out front. He is sitting on a bench. It's the perfect opportunity to take a photo with him. I grew up learning about Glenn Gould. I attended the same high school that he did, so I got that fact reinforced a lot throughout my teen years! I recommend dropping by Glenn Gould Studio and checking out a concert here. It's a beautify concert space. (478)

I had heard the show many times as part of the radio show cast, but had no idea what it was like to be there. And I had never been to the Glenn Gould Studio either, and I was looking forward to that as well, being a fan of the namesake, as a fan of Canadianna in general. I was envisioning the show was in a large lobby, as a casual affair where the public could wander in and out, sipping their free hot chocolate. But no, this is on Eventbrite for tickets, which are free, but in limited supply, and a seated performance in a beautiful concert theatre, perfect! It's located on Front street and was easy to find as I walked east from Spadina on Front and watched for the big 250 sign, which is the address. Out front is a bench sculpture, with Glenn Gould sitting on the bench. The interior design of the galley lobby is striking with nice indirect lighting and items and images dedicated to one of the most famous and celebrated pianists of the 20th century, Glenn Gould. Love the music staff and notation motif wrapped around the concrete support poles, very cool. And they have one of GG's original pianos there on display, although the barrier in front of it appeared to be hanging down, without being able to keep the public away, which was disrespectful to something with obvious historical value. Inside the theatre the enchanting Christmas scene was breathtaking! There was a smoke machine adding some haze and atmosphere, and Christmas Poinsettias lined the complete stage creating a beautiful red base embellishing the scene wonderfully. Giant sparkling-bright snow-flake icons adorned the backdrop. The chairs were very comfortable! There was no lobby service with the typical glass of wine or other drinks at this morning show, which started at 5:30 am and ended at 8:30 am, so there wasn't a reason to get out of our seats, aside from using the washroom. There was a small break on the hour when the news was on, instead of commentary, provided by the inimitable Ismaila Alfa, or the glorious music with the live performances by various artists, so I got up and walked to the lobby and back to my seat. In spite of that I ended up staying for the entire 3 hours, thoroughly enjoying the entire show, even though I thought I would likely leave at one of the breaks, not a chance with that sound, omg such beautiful acoustics in there, along with obviously quality audio gear that I felt Aqyila (yes that Aqyila Vibe for Me (Bob for Me) (or was it maybe an angel lol) was crooning into my ear on the couch beside me singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" absolutely an unforgettable experience that will remain with me forever.
