one of the worst movie experiences ever with any theatre in my life. came here for a documentary screening, nothing was really organized until 10 minutes before the show, we were sequestered to the single theater to the left right beside the food stand. this was not a good experience what so ever, all of the seats are one way, in the aspect that you can only get into the seating on one side, the other side stops against the wall, isn't this a fire hazard? in any event, the movie started 20 minutes late, the coordinator of the documentary took a photo of us, that i still haven't seen released some two months later. the film quality was great, but the film stopped at the 45 minute mark and we were left without the movie for five minutes, the movie started up again, they took the liberty of rewinding the movie back a minute from where it stopped, and then like clockwork, the movie stopped for a second time, two minutes later, the movie starts back up, but not where the movie had cut, so all i could think about for the rest of the movie is "hey, what part did we miss out on". so the movie finished and we had a hard time getting out of our seats because the theatre was completely packed. the part that still bothers me about this situation is that no one, not a single person came in to apologize whatsoever, not during this situation, or afterwords as well. i would be very hard pressed to come back to this theatre under any circumsances just based on this experience alone, extreme lack of customer service and damage control for this situation was pathetic at best, i thought maybe i would have gotten an email or phone call later about it but nothing, if this has been the case where this theatre operates like this, i cant help but question why and how they are still in business. transit options are college ttc subway station and the 506 college streetcar, both options come with a bit of a walk, as this is down on college away from both the station and the surface stop. parking is in the area, but it would be above or below private lots with a bit of a walk. i hate movie theatres to begin with, but this didn't help my opinion on them whatsoever.

This is really charming movie theatre ! Enter, tickets to the right, piano to the left, concession to the back. Simple. I went for $5 Tuesday, and I suggest you go at least half an hour before your movie starts to snag seats, especially if you're a group-- it fills up! Some tips? *You can purchase tickets where they sell popcorn. *They serve liquor. Bahahaha. *Street parking right in front of the theatre allowed after 6:30pm at $3 every hour. (I did not know this and parked at Bay and College for a flat rate of $6, which is not bad either for downtown.)

All our snacks for the movie! 1 large popcorn 2 large candies 1 nacho and Beer Combo 1 tequila margarita slushie, vodka slushie

We had planned to watch Fantastic Four during the last show and booked two special-needs seats online. Parking downtown already costs more than the tickets for two, but we were looking forward to a relaxing evening. About twenty minutes into the film, a staff member approached us to explain that one of the "seats" we had booked was not actually a chair at all, but the space reserved for a wheelchair. This crucial detail was never made clear on the booking site. Unlike other accessible venues--such as the TTC or most theatres--that allow guests to choose between using their own wheelchair or a provided seat, this cinema offered no alternative except an awkward mid-show refund. The situation was uncomfortable and completely ruined our night out. Although the management responded publicly on Google in a caring and professional tone, two follow-up emails since then have gone unanswered. I hope Imagine Cinemas takes accessibility concerns seriously and improves both its booking transparency and customer follow-up.

My first official screening at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival happened at Scotiabank Theatre. One of five venues used to showcase films during the festival, this multiplex housed the majority of all screenings among its 14 auditoriums with an approximate seating capacity range from 100-500. Formerly the Paramount Theatre Toronto, this complex opened in 1999 but was sold by the parent company Viacom to a group later to be named Cineplex Entertainment in 2005. The result was a rebranding of the name to Scotiabank Theatre Toronto under a sponsorship arrangement with Scotiabank. Would I scoot my way to the bank after the many films watched here!? PURCHASE(S) Regular Screening - "Maddie's Secret" ($29.00CAD): The world premiere of this film, I knew someone who worked on it, and it was shot in/around my Silver Lake hipsterhood, so I had to lend my support! The online ticket sales were a breeze once you found a film that wasn't sold out. The "Rush Line" sales were quick once tickets were released, and every human being I dealt with from festival staffers/volunteers to the concessions was nearly seamless - thank you! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I was constantly in the area all day throughout the Toronto International Film Festival, so I simply walked. Otherwise, there were spots along the many main and surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Generally speaking, this was your standard multiplex theatre filled with cushy cup holding reclining seats, very good sound system, and auditorium seating so no one blocked your view. Out of the theatres, you had a large concession stand, a separate Melts and Starbucks stand, in addition to a decent-sized bar dining area. There was a very long escalator https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=ncEHDOlawpLoISteQD6E6w that looked daunting. Plenty of natural lighting came through the large surrounding windows while electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There weren't any TVs (except at the bar area) nor any background music, but there was plenty of chatter all around. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=96&select=Nr8c5z2Pj2Z0xJ0W6CE8Uw ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent at Scotiabank Theatre and would definitely visit them again! Everything ran smoothly enough, there weren't any real hassles, the concession prices were standard with a more broad list of things to eat while the ticket prices were elevated as was the norm for a film festival. The customer service was easy, friendly, and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $51.50CAD BEFORE any discounts/tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... She was performing most of her songs. She and her husband at the time, Ted Dykstra, also performed a few songs together. I knew what to expect seeing Melanie, who is a talented singer, and plays a number of instruments, including the violin, mandolin, and ukelele. I had attended a few shows of hers before this one. Ted had a rich voice that I had never heard before until this show. He also played the piano during this evening. I took a friend to see them. I parked at a lot nearby and we walked over. We had no problems finding the studio, which is on Front Street West. We presented out tickets and were let in. Staff were super helpful pointing us to where we were seated. The acoustics were decent. We both had a great time listening to them and sharing a bit of themselves with us. The seats were comfortable. We were there for 2.5 hours. It was an enjoyable night out. You do get to see a Glenn Gould sculpture out front. He is sitting on a bench. It's the perfect opportunity to take a photo with him. I grew up learning about Glenn Gould. I attended the same high school that he did, so I got that fact reinforced a lot throughout my teen years! I recommend dropping by Glenn Gould Studio and checking out a concert here. I had heard the show many times as part of the radio show cast, but had no idea what it was like to be there. And I had never been to the Glenn Gould Studio either, and I was looking forward to that as well, being a fan of the namesake, as a fan of Canadianna in general. I was envisioning the show was in a large lobby, as a casual affair where the public could wander in and out, sipping their free hot chocolate. But no, this is on Eventbrite for tickets, which are free, but in limited supply, and a seated performance in a beautiful concert theatre, perfect! It's located on Front street and was easy to find as I walked east from Spadina on Front and watched for the big 250 sign, which is the address. Out front is a bench sculpture, with Glenn Gould sitting on the bench. The interior design of the galley lobby is striking with nice indirect lighting and items and images dedicated to one of the most famous and celebrated pianists of the 20th century, Glenn Gould. Love the music staff and notation motif wrapped around the concrete support poles, very cool. And they have one of GG's original pianos there on display, although the barrier in front of it appeared to be hanging down, without being able to keep the public away, which was disrespectful to something with obvious historical value. Inside the theatre the enchanting Christmas scene was breathtaking! There was a smoke machine adding some haze and atmosphere, and Christmas Poinsettias lined the complete stage creating a beautiful red base embellishing the scene wonderfully. Giant sparkling-bright snow-flake icons adorned the backdrop. The chairs were very comfortable! There was no lobby service with the typical glass of wine or other drinks at this morning show, which started at 5:30 am and ended at 8:30 am, so there wasn't a reason to get out of our seats, aside from using the washroom. There was a small break on the hour when the news was on, instead of commentary, provided by the inimitable Ismaila Alfa, or the glorious music with the live performances by various artists, so I got up and walked to the lobby and back to my seat. In spite of that I ended up staying for the entire 3 hours, thoroughly enjoying the entire show, even though I thought I would likely leave at one of the breaks, not a chance with that sound, omg such beautiful acoustics in there, along with obviously quality audio gear that I felt Aqyila (yes that Aqyila Vibe for Me (Bob for Me) (or was it maybe an angel lol) was crooning into my ear on the couch beside me singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" absolutely an unforgettable experience that will remain with me forever.
