Are you a fan of being degraded? Made to feel like a criminal? Enjoy ruining a perfectly good night with friends and going home in a miserable mood? KING'S IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!
Someone call Guinness World Records, because this shithole is THE. WORST. SERVICE. IN. SEATTLE. Seriously, get these guys a medal.
We've been avid fans of King's great deals over the last 5-6 years, enjoying their $0.27 wings and decently priced craft brews. Service has always been slow but their waitresses have always been fairly inviting. Water bowl for your dog, bit of conversation. It worked for us.
Cue Spring 2015. King's Wings to customers: "Go fuck yourselves."
First, the policy changes: 1) No dogs, 2) All tables must pay on one tab, 3) 50% price increase on wings, and 4) 20% increase on HH beer prices. Things change, inflation's a bitch. Whatever, I can live with it.
Let's go through our night:
1) No tables available on the patio, go inside. Ask waitress "Hey do you mind if we combine some tables for our group?" "Sure whatever."
2) Time to check ID's. 5 people down, get to our Canadian friend. Forgets her passport at home, damn - our fault, guess she won't be drinking. "You need to leave" she says, in a properly bitchy tone. Away goes friends one and two (her friend, so she didn't leave alone).
3) 30 minutes later, get our menu. "Oh is the $0.25 wing deal not available anymore?" "Um excuse me, it was *never* $0.25 per wing, it was *$0.27*. Now it's $0.39, and since we serve organic chicken, we need to charge more for our food. Is that a problem?" ".....No that's fine, just curious."
4) 15 minutes later, she returns. Time to order. "You guys will need to put all food and drinks onto one tab. New policy." Think the tone of Mean Girls Regina. This bitch's was worse. "Since we have groups at 3 tables could we at least split into 3 groups rather than one for all of us?" "Gah, you know, you guys should've told me before you ordered that you'd have such a large group. But WHATEVER, just give me your cards and I'll do them separate." "No it's OK, we can do individual." "No, it's whatever, just give me your card." Third friend is fed up and leaves, down to a group of 7.
5) 45 minutes later, we get our food. "Could we get some ranch dip?" "Um sure but there was an order for 200 wings before you so you're going to have to wait." (Is ranch really that hard to pour? Who would've known?)
6) 45 minutes later, we finish our wings. The ranch finally shows up. "Oh we're done eating, we don't need the ranch anymore." "Well you should've told me when you ordered then!" (She never asked if we wanted ranch when we were ordering.) She leaves the dips with us and our empty food plates, as well as the bill for the overpriced dips.
7) We're hanging out, as if this nightmare wasn't already bad enough, "queen bitch" comes by for another visit as we're petting our dog. "Um excuse me, is that a service dog? No? He can't be in here. Health code." Is it hard to ask someone politely to bring their dog outside? How would we have known that they changed their dog policy? Apparently a polite notice is a thing of the 2014's.
At this point, our entire group was fed up. 10 of us who regularly attend King's for years has been burnt over, and over, and over again. I'm finally fed up and I approach their manager. Polite girl, tried to apply logic to the situation. I had no qualms with her. However, she never offered to comp our food or offer any sort of amends for the nightmare this shit hole of a bar put us through.
Dear true manager - Please learn how to apply proper recruiting practices to your staff. Customer loyalty is a thing. You not only lost 10 loyal long-time customers tonight, you lost my recommendation to any friend ever looking for a fun spot. This place is a nightmare, now officially my least favorite place not only in Seattle, but that I've ever been to in the world.
Good bye and good riddance, King's Hardware. read more
