King's Gambit is such a gem! I tried the "At First Slice Pie" coconut specialty drink from their seasonal menu and it was incredible. Dessert in a cup, but not too overly sweet. You can tell they really care about what they're serving. I also got a gluten-free oatmeal cream cookie, which was absolutely delicious. It was soft, flavorful, and didn't taste gluten-free at all. The employees were so kind and warm. The whole space has amazing character. Cozy couches, plenty of seating, natural light, plants, wood floors, and a really welcoming vibe. It feels like the kind of place you could comfortably work for hours or meet up with a friend. Great atmosphere for a weekend reset. Only note is that they're open weekends only, so hours are limited, but it's absolutely worth planning around. Can't wait to go back! read more

My family and I come here every weekend! It is such a treat. The service is always wonderful, the ladies that work behind the counter are kind and patient, especially with my 3 young children who like different colored drinks. The coffee is always great, we order iced and hot lattes. The owner is a magician with her housemade specialty flavors that change out almost every month. The space is always super clean and has lots of well maintained plants, which create a cozy setting to stay and enjoy coffee or tea with friends. The bathroom is super nice and clean as well. The couple that owns this shop roasts their own beans and is very knowledgeable in this type of art and business. We love it!!! read more

I became a monthly subscriber to King's Gambit because their roasted coffees are amongst the best I've had in both NJ and the DC area. It also gave me an excuse to go to their cafe to enjoy their superb espresso drinks. However, I'm leaving this review because their customer experience has been second to none. They're always friendly, my subscription beans always come with a hand-written note, my last pickup came with a special gift coffee mug (Thank You King's Gambit!!!), and now I've learned they're delivering my next allotment of beans during their holiday closure. Living in a reasonably sized city in Eastern PA an hour from NYC, where coffee shops are a dime a dozen, I've never been wowed by any. Matter a fact, I simply don't go back. Coffee shops range from average to tasting burnt or too bitter, needing far too much cream and sugar to mask the flavor. That is why you would not expect to find a NYC or San Francisco grade coffee experience in the quaint town of Belvedere New Jersey. I have traveled many places and this is in my top ten best coffee houses I have ever been too and I travel thirty minutes to have it almost every Sunday. My wife and I found Kings Gambit a few years ago and from the moment we tasted their coffees, teas and specialty drinks, we have continued to return. The coffee is without fail the same great taste every time, with no change in taste or lesser quality. Always very smooth and never bitter. The staff is very friendly and ambiance is very welcoming, we even met the town mayor once there. This is a great place and highly recommend for anyone looking for a better coffee experience. read more

Stopped into King's Gambit for coffees. They are super knowledgeable about their coffee and also chill and nice. They have coffee, tea, and a nice selection of baked goods (they have oat and almond milk). The space is beautiful and there are picnic tables outside if you want to hang out for a bit. read more

So cool! A great addition to Belvidere! Very bright and fresh inside with a lot of different areas to sit. It is a little more on the pricey side, but there is a lot on the menu and with even more on the way. I went twice just this past weekend and plan to go back again. I can't wait to try one of the Fusions, I got a sample of the White Queen today and it tasted just like a milkshake! All I could want are a few more savory snack options, but their bakery items look delicious. read more

When we got to the place we thought we thought we got lost. But as soon as we got inside ooohhh the atmosphere was very cozy. Price is very reasonable. It's cool how it was decorated. Staff were very helpful / friendly. The top two characteristic that I look for in a place. Definitely recommend this place for that. We were greeted outside the store by one of the owners on our first trip in which was so genuine and lovely! Upon entering I was immediately greeted again. Kudos to welcoming us in! We were a group off 5 plus a toddler and found the menu to have something for all of us. The aroma and the ambience were a delight. The exchange and positive banter in ordering was pleasant. All POS is modern and the beauty of the store was very well planned. Sitting in the Scandinavian lounge, I was going on about the awesome decor and unbeknownst to me the second owner walked by and thanked me. The prices were incredible and the coffee/espresso was perfectly made. The fancy frozen drinks which my parents and husband got were delicious. I can't wait to be up in town again go taste more. The Mocha was excellent! I was in town on business yesterday. I am sitting at home tonight and I am craving it. Unfortunately, its well over an hour away and there is no coffee shop that compares to the top notch mocha I had yesterday. The first time I walked into King's Gambit, I was awestruck. From the beautiful plants, to the orange accent lights/chairs, I knew this place deserves 5 stars. The coffee is SO GOOD, I would still come back even if the shop was located in the middle of a junk yard. Whenever I am craving a relaxing yet productive afternoon, King's Gambit is first on my mind (although I don't always make it there before three). We had used them for our home's coffee needs here and there after they opened in December, but after the pandemic hit and everything closed, they offered free local delivery and we wanted to support KG. So glad we did because they are now our only coffee supplier! Always fresh roasted. If you want to try a lighter roast, I'd recommend Queen City or Woman's Hands. My favorite darker roast is Bajawa Dragon. And my kids LOVE the cotton-candy topped Rook drink. read more
