Had a beautiful winter riding experience here--it truly felt like something out of a movie. I…read morebooked through Groupon and then made a reservation on their website. There were some additional costs I didn't expect, but I understood they likely go toward the guides and the care of the horses. I've ridden before and mainly wanted to enjoy the fresh air and scenery, which did not disappoint. The only thing I really wish had been different was the photo policy. I completely respect the no-cellphone rule for safety, but it was a bit disappointing not to be able to capture or share such an incredible experience. Maybe a good compromise would be for guides to take photos or short videos during the ride, or to have a brief stop along the trail for pictures. That would make the experience feel more complete and memorable. The ride itself felt a bit strict at times--we stayed in a single line and had to keep pace, which made it feel a little tense, almost like a "keep up" situation. I understand safety is the priority, though. One of my favorite moments was when the guide explained how to calm a horse and build a connection--that part was really special. Overall, it was a great experience and one of the best I've had in the North. If the pricing felt a bit more reasonable and there were more opportunities to capture memories, I would definitely come back.

My daughter is autistic and described her experience as feeling "safe, confident, comfortable, and sometimes exhilarated." By the end of the half hour, she was, solo, weaving the horse in and out of cones in the ring. Both rider and horse looked relaxed and at ease. I'm a lifelong rider and am very attuned to how things are going. Honestly, I don't understand what the more negative reviews on this site are talking about. This was amazing. Beautiful facility, the horses are well cared for, and I just signed kiddo up for summer riding camp here.

Our small crew included myself, my daughter, and my girlfriend. We were greeted at the ranch by the very hospitable hosts, David and Jessica Martin. The riding package included a delicious western meal prepared by David eaten outdoors where everyone knows that food tastes best! Jessica provided a very informative overview of horsemanship that refreshed my memory of being around horses and provided new information to the the rest of us who had a bit less riding than I had, although I'm by no means an expert. Jessica's knowledge of horses is amazing. We each rode on a horse that was hand selected by Jessica based on observing each of us in the paddock on horseback before setting out on the trails. The pace of our ride was comfortable enough for anyone with a bit more riding experience but not too fast for those with less experience. Our horses were beautiful and well trained. One thing that I noticed early on about the Martin Family Ranch was how CLEAN the barn and stall were and how loving cared for the horses were. I loved the fact while the ranch and its horses are a business with money to be made, the well-being of the horses at the ranch is of paramount concern to David and Jessica. We would love to go back to the ranch again some day for more riding!

The Martin Family Ranch is a must! I was expecting to learn a bit and then enjoy a trail ride, but…read morewhat I got from Jess and David was so much more. I'm writing this a few days after my experience and am still smiling. At first, I actually drove right past their property because it was so beautiful that I thought it was someone's beautiful home with well-kept grounds. Jess greeted me outside. We chatted a bit about what I should expect for the day. I was surprised when she said they had prepared lunch for me. When I say they prepared a lunch, I don't mean crackers and cheese on a plate with grapes, which is always lovely. What I mean is they grilled delicious meats, prepared potatoes, as well as a fresh cucumber and tomato salad! They sat with me at the picnic table and we got to know each other a bit while we ate. Jess decided which horse she thought would be best for me. I got Gorgeous George. She chose wisely. All of their horses are gorgeous. They look so healthy and vibrant! David and Jess believe in the importance of the horse and rider getting familiar with each other. To do so, you have to spend some intimate time with each other. I was shown how to brush the horse (for different reasons and with different brushes); how to clean the horses hooves; and how to walk the horse. To be clear, I was shown how to do these things and then did these things. Then I got to ride the horse in the ring. By the time I got to the ring, I was so much more relaxed with George than I was when I first met him. David determined that I was ready to hit the short trail, so the 3 of us rode off. They both determined I was ready for the longer, more challenging trail. What a challenging, but fantastic rest of the day! We had a 2 hour adventurous ride through the trails and waters. I'm not an overly experienced rider. I've only done trail rides, and only started doing those as an adult. I've done those trail rides in NH, TX, AZ, etc. This was like no trail ride I've ever done. The scenery is great, the instruction is great, and the people are great. They love their horses, and care about their riders having a unique, safe, and beautiful day. I cannot wait to return!

The staff were very courteous, efficient and professional. What a beautiful place to just come for a few nights to stay, to get away from it all. So peaceful and tranquil. And very beautiful. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO HERE!! 0 STARS…read more Months back I had a meeting with Alice about a short-term marketing job for her current horses with another newly hired girl. During the "interview" I spent the majority of the time sitting uncomfortably in silence while Alice ranted on and on about how INCREDIBLY happy she was that I am not ugly or overweight. Odd, right? Fast forward, the new hire and I are aimlessly walking around the barn alone with no idea what to do. We quickly noticed the horses had NO HAY, NO WATER, NO BEDDING, and were tacked up from open to close. The girths remained tightly secured the entirety of the day. Almost every horse had several burs stuck in their manes, tails, and forelocks. It appeared they had not been groomed in WEEKS. During the short time of handling these poor horses, Nicole and I noticed they were all broken down in some way. 100% were lame. 100% had ribs showing too much. 100% were so obviously unhappy. Aside from the horses, Dennis was extremely creepy. He would slowly follow us around the barn in his car without saying a word. He even threw his cigarette at Nicole. He would tell us to do something, leave, come back, and then ask why the f**k we were doing what he told us to do. I met the ONE employee they have and needless to say, he was more than willing to dive into how shitty the owners are without me asking. It was also apparent that he abuses the horses and is NOT a horse person. Additionally, Alice and Dennis were more than willing to dive into how "dumb and slow" their only employee is without me asking. I left crying because I felt so horrible for those poor animals. Do not buy from here, do not take pony rides from here, do not take trails from here, do not send your horse here, do not do not DO NOT! Nicole contacted me a day or two later explaining how she confronted Alice about the quality of her horses. Unsurprisingly, Alice responded very aggressively. To the people considering doing business here: DO NOT. Alice and Dennis do not care about their horses in any way, shape, or form. They will deceive you into think these horses are happy and able to work. This place should be shut down. I have 2 equine related college degrees. I CANNOT make this shit up. This place is disgusting.
