And fresh cut flowers. And meat from the animals that they raise on their farm. And they sell it at competitive prices. Not with exorbitant mark ups. The jam being sold was made in some ones kitchen - not at some mini factory. Same with the baked goods. It's held up on Academy Hill in Westminster. A big grassy field that you can easily sit down in. Live music on the band stand. Quite a few trees that provide shade for those hot days.

Things get going the 1st week in July, and by the end of the month things are rolling. New this year are orchard wines from Hardwick Winery. One of the vendors starts growing tomato plants right after the Superbowl in January to give them a head start for the market.......Best vine-ripened tomatoes anywhere! At the very back is a gazebo that a couple was using for an engagement photoshoot while we were there. Easy to see why when it's surrounded by rolling hills. The apples were ginormous. Like, gigantic. Especially the honeycrisp. I picked one to eat and could only finish half of it!! Prices are reasonable. The size of the bags are odd though....I got a bag that was supposed to fit 16 and it only fit 5. Huh?? Just readjust your expectations. They also have a hayride that takes you on a tour through the orchard and he talks about the history of it. Make sure you sit near the speaker since it's hard to hear over the engine. The store was stocked with the obvious. Apple cider, apple butter, caramel apples. There's also a little food truck outside. ALL fried foods so don't expect anything healthy. At CHF, you will find a farm stand and a CSA as well as hiking trails, snowshoeing trails and cross-country options. A large variety of vegetables are grown here as well as some animals. The employees are always willing to take a minute to talk with you about their farming processes and life on the farm. There are many activities for children, families, and adults including young farmer programs, yoga at the farm, meet the farmer, running with the goats, farm dinners and more. It is a beautiful area not far from the center of town. The custodians of this farm understand their responsibility and take pride in enhancing the property both for now as well as future generations.

It rivals that of farmer's markets which makes the name stand out. I really enjoy taking a ride there and taking my time in each department or aisle I feel that there's always something new each time I go there. It's almost like a boutique grocery store? Nah not like Whole Foods - think more like sodas from France, a loaded deli full of items and brands you are familiar with but some you just don't see at stop n shop or Costco - also have to mention that yes I know there barely anywhere to get a bit to eat so I have to recommend trying the pizza, incredible sandwich menu as well as the best deal in town - the smash burger ! A meal with fries will cost you FAR less than the drive thru crap and about 20,000 times better ! I would say it's the best kept secret but unless I go early on a weekday morning it's typically kind of busy. I now take my boys here every year. And I plan on continuing the tradition with them. Fond memories of penny candy, and apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream. And the merry -go-round and swings and those super fast and hot slides rofl. The beauty of the orchard and of course the tasty apples! They have their own cheese and fresh baked goods including different sized trays of their always good apple pie dumplings that you can buy to go or you can go to the building outside for refreshments and sit at the picnic tables. But be warned, the yellow jackets are everywhere. They don't tend to sting unless they have been irritated but it's hard to sit still when they are crawling on your foot or drink. Though I don't mind sharing, this isn't what I had in mind. But that's nature. You can always escape to your car to finish your refreshment s and head back out to check out their gift shop or antiques area! It's also a beautiful walk on the road at the orchard as well with gorgeous views of sunset and apple trees just before closing. They of course have many events for the public like book fairs, and festivals of all kinds so it's wise to follow their Facebook page! Brookfield orchard has been a family owned and operated business since 1918! I hope they continue to get the support they need to stay open. It truly is a nice place to go to spend a couple of hours and support a small business. Be sure to leave with some tasty apples, apple cider and those amazing apple dumplings! The apple dumplings were great, the cider not so much. It was spoiled upon opening. Seeing has how I live ~45 minutes away, down the sink it went.
