Hartmans Herb Farm is simply amazing!! My son's wedding took place there and everyone had a wonderful time. From the small, beautiful wedding chapel, the spacious reception and dining room to the incredible herb gardens and cozy, clean guest hotel. It was perfect. The food served was a very moist and tender chicken piccata, stuffed raviolis (my favorite) and delicious tender wild rice with mixed vegetables!!! The staff were very courteous, efficient and professional. What a beautiful place to just come for a few nights to stay, to get away from it all. So peaceful and tranquil. And very beautiful. Lynn and Clarissa are to be highly commended. They even went out of their way to ship us some maple syrup bottles that we could not bring on the airplane with us. I had an amazing experience staying at Hartman's Herb Farm! They made me feel like family and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Lynn was so thoughtful and when I mentioned that I wished I had a sketchbook, she had one waiting for me at the breakfast table the next morning. The baby goats were SO sweet and followed me around, and Lynn let me feed them. She sent me home with some herbs and plants as a gift. Not only did I have an idyllic stay, but I feel I've made lifelong friends. They had food left over from a wedding the day before and they served it to me gratis for dinner- it was really delicious (fresh salmon, asparagus and green beans). After so many months passed I thought I was over the horrific experience I went through at this place. But, when the wedding pictures arrived it all came back. These pictures are all tainted. As I sit and go through them each and every picture has a bad memory. Where should I begin with my rant about this place? I guess I will start with the rehearsal dinner. The bridal party arrives and we are clueless on where to go and what to do. About 40 minutes later clueless on where to go and what to do we were finally told where to go.After doing a walk through yes, just one walk. We were left standing in these heat for about 30 minutes wondering where or what to do next. We asked if we were going to do it again. This lady says I'm a stern voice" it's not hard to just walk". We proceeded to the reception for the dinner we were seated for this so called dinner. What's for dinner you ask? Raw burgers not pink RAW! Chicken was rubbery the ranch sauce on the table had a fly in it. When I quietly and politely asked to have another sauce we waited for it. The best part of the "so called dinner" was the potatoes. Water on the table had no ice and if we asked for ice by the time we got it it was melted. Moving on to the Big day.Saturday morning comes hairdresser and makeup artist are calling us to ask where to park. There was no one out outside directly traffic or any signs. Why should the guests call the bridal party asking where to park? Shortly, our photographer arrived. Yes, we hired our own photographer but for some reason this lady had to take our pictures as well which, till this day we are yet to see them. her response was I'm the owner. I've done this a million times and never worked with you difficult people. The nerve! We hired one so you can go direct traffic and make sure there were no flies on the cake!!! Yes the God dam cake was covered in Flies! Should have known when I saw that one fucker in the dressing. We asked to have a table to be moved many times. She would not move it because the next day she had another wedding and they wanted it there. What!!!! I was upset told her that we can move it for her. At this point I was done with her and her mother. My patience ran out we exchanged not to pleasant to rods and slammed the door on my face. Once the wedding was done mind you the seats were wet. They decided to clean the seats right before the guest arrived so they all had wet behinds. We were told this is handicapped accessible. They lied one of our groomsmen has a prosthetic leg and it was very hard for him to hurdle a hose left on the ground and then going up a hill. Almost done here, when the wedding party gets seated all of our guest and even staff knew what occurred with me and this lady. Long story short DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE!!!! read more

I went to a wedding at the farm last weekend. Everyone had a lovely time. The farm is the perfect setting for a wedding. My friends got married in a garden surrounded by flowers. The Hartman's supplied the flowers for the wedding party and the reception and they were very unique and beautiful. I loved how they incorporated herbs into the arrangements. The reception was also at the farm. The function room is large enough for about 100 people. The is room and bright and warm. The rooms at the bed and breakfast were included in the wedding package. There were 5 cosy and welcoming rooms. Some rooms had two beds and could easily accommidate 3 people. Some rooms have their own bathroom, and others use a shared bathroom. One of the best things about the farm/bed and breakfast is the owner Lynn who is one of the nicest people. She made us feel at home. After the wedding those of us staying there wanted to share a few bottles of wine and sit under the stars and chat. Lynn sold us a bottle of wine and we went outside. There is a great front porch and several tables outside. They trusted that we would turn off all the lights at the end of the night and cause no trouble. We felt just at home and free to have a great time. The next morning we were served breakfast and then we went to see a bit more of the farm. They have goats, chickens, and rabbits. My friends said that the wedding was easy to plan because the ceremony, reception, flowers, lodging, (and probably food) were all provided by the farm. It is important to know that many people felt it took longer than expected to travel to the farm. Google Maps said it was about 1 hour 40 minutes from Boston and it took about 2 hours 10 minutes to get there. Also note that Worchester is difficult to navigate. read more

I love it here. It is a hike to get to but it is an opportunity to visit a family run herb farm. Greenhouses and fields of beautiful herbs, flowers and plants. They make their own dried flower wreaths, jams and other crafty items. The theme is country- you need to walk outside to shop and there are farm animals that live on grounds. Extremely personable, reasonably priced and fresh. I also recently learned that they rent out a functon room for special events. The location, while tucked away is quite beautiful as you are viewing gardens and a wooded mountain. read more

Went here for a friends wedding as a groomsman, and I am appaled by the service and hospitality, or should I say lack there of. A friend had purchased a bottle of wine as a gift for the brides mother that was then illegally confiscated in their private room without reason or warrant. They then went through our room and took our expensive bottle of alcohol and refused to give it back stating that "they'd lose their alcohol license." I breifly spoke with individuals who specialize in town permits and regulations who informed me that an establishment, especially a bread and breakfast, would only lose their liquor license if THEY were the ones distributing it, not if other people brought the alcohol. So as a ploy, they took the alcohol to make more money at their own bar, which shouldn't be a surprise given the circumstances. They never directly notified us that they were going through our room or stuff about the particular incident, nor did they have anywhere on their property or their website saying we weren't allowed to bring alcohol. I explained to the owner that what they did wasn't only wrong and an invasion of my own privacy, but illegal. They then threatened to ruin the wedding by calling the police and having me escorted off the premises. A woman by the name of Carrissa was yelling at the top of her lungs at me after I had asked her politely that if I wasn't getting my alcohol back that the least they can do is supply us with drinks or return the full amount of the rooms to the bride and we would leave. This happened while a memorable speech was occuring in the venue to the bride, she continued to yell and I asked her if she could calm down because of the speech and she went on to yell at me saying that I don't tell her what to do, and that I should sit down, shut up, and go into the venue or else I'd have to leave. My friend who was also the bride was overcharged $700 for the whole reception in which case the owners refused to return back to her even though it was clear that they overcharged. In the morning when we had breakfast, the bread also had mold all over it. So if you're looking for a place to have your personal belongings stolen (even if it was a gift), have your personal belongings searched through, get yelled at (and I mean really loudly and uncontrollably) by staff, get threatened to have a wedding ruined by the police by escorting you off the premises, have your reception overcharged by $700 and not have your money returned, and eat food that is horrendously expired, then look no further! read more

We had the most wonderful experience with Hartman's for our wedding last weekend! Lynn and Carissa (and the rest of the team at Hartman's!) are incredibly thorough and care so much about about making sure everything is perfect. They were flexible and easily accommodated special requests for specific craft beers, special flowers, and allergy-friendly foods. They went out of their way during the day of to help everything run smoothly and were amazing with our guests. The food was delicious and the cake was the best we've ever had. When my friend first told me she was having her wedding on an herb farm, I was a bit skeptical about what to expect. After I saw some pictures and heard her rave reviews about her experience, those doubts melted away. The big day finally came and I got to see the farm myself. It took a while to get here from Boston as we left at 4:30pm on a Friday afternoon to get to the rehearsal dinner. Traffic on the Pike was horrible and the route took us to Route 9 which was somewhat better. I imagine it's better during any other time. The farm was so amazing. It was such a great experience to get out of the city and into the greener areas of Massachusetts. Lynn was SOOO wonderful in helping us get settled in and fed. The food was so good, not just because we were hungry. The reception dinner and snacks were yummy. The people working were so nice and sweet to us! I also loved that there are animals on the farm: Fudgie, Mr Hopsalot, goats, sheep, roosters, and ducks. The set up of the farm worked for the wedding. The ceremony took place by the gazebo and we just crossed the road to the function room for the cocktail hour and reception. There are some B&Bs nearby to stay in, which helped out other guests. All in all, I had a great time and would definitely recommend that anyone looking for a quaint outdoor wedding venue should put this at the top of their list! read more

If you are looking for a terrible wedding experience look no further! There are no contracts involved but that won't stop them from searching your rooms and digging through your personal belongings. From there when you bring up that they illegally searched your room they will precede to threaten you with the cops. Weddings are meant to be a special occasion that this place has no problem calling the police in to ruin. They also don't mind over charging whoever is paying for the event just to hold on to the money. This family is definitely in the wrong business because they don't seem to understand the first thing about hospitality. Its a pretty environment that gives a rustic feel but keep in mind they will yell at you for walking around the property. This place has potential to be a pretty wedding scene but new management is needed as well as taking care of the fields and flowers. Right as the wedding was about to start they had to come trim the bushes to the wedding alter because they still hadn't. When a business gets paid for a service they should be able to follow through on but this place clearly does not have the means nor if they did would they care to perform service that meet any standards. I definitely will not let any of my friends or family waste their money on a terrible night here and I hope this helps others from making the same mistake my friends who got married made when picking their venue. read more

We attended a wedding at Hartman's in October. It is a rustic, lovely place and the wedding photos with the background woods are gorgeous. The bridal couple were happy that the Farm was a full service venue, which made planning much easier for them. They also liked that only one wedding is scheduled per weekend, so the wedding party had the run of the place. They didn't need a wedding coordinator because the experienced and capable manager/owner organized everything. The food was very good and we appreciated that careful attention was paid to guests with food allergies. It was a wonderful experience. I can't speak to the Bed and Breakfast, but I'm sure it's wonderful. I've only used the Memorial Wreaths for the past 13 + years as head of a Sunshine Fund at my school. I just called and tried to see if there was a way to work with Hartman's to create a smaller version or some different product as a memorial. I was told "you teachers are clueless". This woman also told me that no she won't work with us to try and figure something out. I'm fine with that but there's a much nicer way to do that other than insulting a profession. I really love supporting the mom & pop small businesses but I will go elsewhere from now on. read more
