Wonderful ambience, great service, delicious appetizers, and amazing drinks. I had the smoked eggplant, which is one of Kate Romane's specialties. The interior is completely stunning. They did a fantastic job of restoring the previous warehouse into a showplace, but at the same time keeping the original wood, bricks and other features. They have great space upstairs for private events. I attended on a Thursday night when they had some very talented avant-garde jazz musicians. Everything was quite impressive. Highly recommended. Parking is tricky, I had to search for on-street parking. There's a lot nearby, but no parking instructions on their website. read more

I just recently went to Kingfly for the first time after hearing about their live music! My parents and I went on a Sunday afternoon after the Arts Festival. The space is really big inside and you can see the distilling equipment. They have a bar, and lounge areas with couches. It seemed like the people that were hanging out there had been there before. I listened to what other people ordered in line and they all seemed like they knew exactly what they wanted. There wasn't really any introduction when we went in. The bartender said hi and that she could take our order down at the other end. I told her it was our first time here and she was kind of just like oh cool! And then I asked her if they made all of the spirits and she just said yes. I wish she would have given us some information since we knew literally nothing about the spirits or the actual place. We asked her what she suggested since I wanted to try their limoncello. She suggested getting 2 shots of limoncello with their housemade tonic water. It was SO perfect for a hot day! My dad got the mint julep and it was so fresh and not too sweet. My mom got the painkiller, and it tasted like being at the beach! I will definitely get that for another outdoor show there on a hot day. It tasted like creamy coconut mixed with pineapple upside down cake. It was strong too! We had fun trying each other's drinks. We watched Jimbo Jackson on their side patio for about an hour. Their sound system was not great at all. The microphone/speakers kept buzzing and there was a lot of feedback. It was still fun to watch him though... he is always great! Next time I go, I'd love to see the upstairs of the distillery. I heard that they host events up there and the photos look cool. It was roped off the day we were there, probably because it wasn't that busy. I will definitely be back! read more

I am a sucker for a fun ice cube especially a big square with a dragonfly or butterfly. We did a flight of spirits that was so delish my head was spinning...wait maybe that was from the ABV. Nonetheless, they were really tasty pours of booze. Hey, have I mentioned booze? I love their version of the Painkiller. Great atmosphere, drinks, and live music! I went with friends on a snowy Thursday night and it was so cozy. We sat on the first floor which was great since we could still here the live jazz on the second floor and hear each other as well! I had a few different cocktails and they were all delicious. Looking forward to going back and trying their coffee as well! My only recommendation for Kingfly would be some more snack options - there didn't seem to be many. read more

I've visited this place during the pandemic to try something new. However we were able to stop by and do a flight of the different spirits that are available, along with the different cocktails. When you walk into the facility, it's absolutely amazing wood work. The entrance has the still located on the main floor, bar area to the side, seating all around the bottom and upstairs area. You order your drinks at the bar and seat where you want to sit. Very impressive by the place and the staff was super friendly. Purchased the Spiced Rum, it is incredible. I recommend stopping here, can't wait to come back. read more

I know this place is new, and my impression from a visit last night may change with time once they get the training wheels off their operation. The space is beautiful, and they have a great collection of spirits which they distill themselves as well as other Pennsylvania produced spirits, beer, and wine. I ordered a flight of I believe 4 or 5 of their spirits. I found the vodka to be rather harsh, but the bourbon, rye and rum to be pretty good. Any would work well in a mixer but if you like it straight, try a flight. They offer a limited selection of reasonably price snacks, and I was anxious to try the smoked eggplant dip. About 15 minutes after ordering it, I asked the server if he would check if it would be much longer for the eggplant dip, and after some fumbling around on the iPad, replied that they seem to be out of stock on that item. If he had ordered it in the first place I think he should've been able to advise me of that. In its place I simply ordered the lime chili cashews. A customer service oriented bartender probably would've not charged for the replacement item since they he obviously didn't order my first choice 15 minutes prior, but that was not the case. I would still suggest checking the place out because it has a lot of potential. read more

Really long, slow moving lines. I had a seasonal cranberry cocktail that wasn't actually very good. No problem finding seating, but a lot of wasted space upstairs. The atmosphere is really cool though. My biggest bummer was watching the bartender throw away several perfectly fine but peeled pieces of citrus fruit. I would love to see the bar program adopt a more sustainable approach to leftover citrus fruits because that is so wasteful. My cocktail came with an alternative straw (pasta or sugar. Something not plastic) but then I watched them toss out so much fruit. read more

I've been here multiple times over the last year and am always struck on how simple, yet beautiful, the interior of this spot is. It's very comfortable and I haven't been here when it's overly crowded. They don't have many food options outside of some snacks, most recently, chickpea salad, cheese/olives, soup and rum cake. Great atmosphere here on a Saturday night, they also had a live music event that really livened up the space. Interesting cocktail menu showcasing their spirits and they also sell some local brews to round out the offerings. We love to see the collaboration of the local bev community! This is a great spot to bring a larger group of friends, plenty of space and can order individually at the bar. The only negatives were that the bar line moved quite slowly and the bourbon cocktail I ordered wasn't mixed or garnished. The flavors were nice though. On a busy night perhaps they aren't able to give as much attention to preparation and presentation (but for the price I expected more). One of my favorite places in the strip. The vibe is amazing. It's so cool inside! Their Limoncello Slushes are to die for. I'm obsessed with them and cannot wait to go back! We came to Kingfly for a wedding reception. They did such a beautiful job decorating with flowers, non-burning candles, and chuppas of twinkling lights. The appetizers and buffet offered (non)meat and gluten-free options, so everyone had something enticing to eat. As for drinks, I had the limencello spritz, which wasn't too strong. We have been wanting to stop by here for a little while but it just never was meant to be. We actually stopped by a month ago and was trying to get in but they told us there was a private event going on. So they were closed to the public. We came here on a Saturday night and noticed there was a band playing upstairs. Looks like you have to buy tickets to go upstairs but you can hear the band play perfectly downstairs. We found some bar stools and was greeted by Luke the bartender. He was very helpful which helped us out a lot. He made a special cocktail for my wife by request and I had a old fashioned with Rye Whiskey. We saw that they had some coffee drinks so we ordered those after our first drinks. They were all really good. It's expensive but getting a drink or two when you are going out on a Saturday night isn't too bad. We liked the atmosphere and the service was great. This bar is really neat. As soon as you walk in you see beautiful wood tables and a gorgeous full wood bar. The style is very relaxed and inviting. In the background you see all the makings of a distillery which compliments the vibe. The smell in there is incredible and worth commenting on in its own sentence - the fresh wood scent is as pungent as if the entire bar had been cut up and made the night before (if that's your sort of thing). It's amazing! We had two beers from a local brewery that we love and a limoncello shot because, why not. I was interested in the shot - my boyfriend loved it but I wasn't raving about it. It was made with sweet lemons which is really neat!! I think it's worth trying out if you're in the area. read more

Was visiting Pittsburgh for a weekend and tried to find a chill place to have a drink with some friends. I was with a group of 6 guys, so we finally settled on this place. At first glance, this place has very chill vibes - a casual place you can have a chat with some friends. Though the service is what turned me off... It took us forever to get our drink orders in, even though it definitely was not crowded whatsoever on a Thursday afternoon. We were all waiting at the bar waiting to get our drink orders in, and since I didn't want to order anything I grabbed a table while the others ordered. Finally, after having waited at least 20 minutes for that part, we played cards at the table while waiting for our drinks to arrive. The lady bartender arrived with our drinks, and the first thing she says in a VERY loud voice is "Miss I need to see your ID." I was so shocked at this because 1) I did not order a drink and 2) her tone was VERY rude and not friendly whatsoever. Literally everyone at the table noticed how hostile it was... but of course, I went to get my wallet and gladly gave it to her. It's one thing to ask for an ID (I get it, I look young and I don't get offended being asked for an ID), but to ask for it in SUCH a hostile manner, I felt as if I was being attacked. I would understand if she was really busy with other customers, but again, the bar was empty.... Regardless of the poor service from the staff, I do not recommend this bar if you want to be respected as a customer. Sorry, bye! Edit: I understand that there are laws in place to prevent businesses from serving alcohol to minors. But there is also a manner in which it should be presented that prevents customers from feeling attacked. As a business owner, you probably feel that you need to defend your employees, but it is another thing to defend their rude behavior. As I mentioned, the bar was VERY MUCH empty when our group was present, so I'm not so sure what could've pulled the bartenders in so many directions as to be hostile to customers present in the actual bar. I hope you do understand, Blake, that my review was not groundless, but rather to make you and others aware and I hope there it will promote change in the right direction. read more

This was my first time here and I hope to be back soon. Definitely a perfect after dinner spot where you can grab a limoncello or any other type of cocktail if you're already in the strip district. Venue Vibe: The aesthetics of this place will soon be utilized by girls on Instagram they just haven't really found out that this place exists yet but give it time, they won't be able to resist a pretty cocktail or exposed brick wall for photos. Service: Our waitress was amazing and really helped steer me in the right direction as for what types of liquors I should sample or mixed drinks recommendations. Also my water glass was constantly being filled maybe because the guy saw how many cocktails and samples I ordered he wanted me to stay hydrated but I never had to ask for water they just made sure I was always topped off. Booze: I sampled the spiced rum and the limoncello. The spice rum was like tasting Christmas it wasnt too sweet but went down smoothly. The limoncello wasn't bad either I definitely would have preferred for a chilled sample personally because I think it tastes better chilled. Cocktails: For cocktails I went for the daiquiri and what's known as the Painkiller. The name painkiller sounds kinda misleading but this drink was awesome I felt no pain. It was like drinking a Pina Colada on the rocks without the syrupy mix and with a little bit of spice to it. Definitely a drink you'd want to have on a warm spring/summer day. The daiquiri was tart but just how I like them and was probably my favorite choice between that and the painkiller. On another note they have Engine House 25 Wines on their wine list which is my favorite local wine! I appreciate local businesses helping local businesses! Yes, to this place!! Everything is so yes. The decor, the vibe, the staff, the dranks!! OMG, do the flight and find which booze is your favorite, then pick a cocktail that speaks to you. Or, better yet, speak to the bartender and tell him which you loved and he'll concoct something special just for you. I had the Bushwhacker and I fell in love. Coffee and cocoa and spiced rum, but not too sweet. It was like heaven. I wish I had another right now. They also have some great wines available, if you're scared of the alcohol. (Don't be skeerd!) What a great place to have in the Strip District! Street parking takes some time to find but that's typical for the strip and would not sway me from coming. The outside of the building looks great but then you walk inside and WOW they've done such a great job with the space. Between the old wooden beams, the copper distillery and old barrels used as table tops it is an open invitation to sit down, relax and enjoy some great drinks. There are a lot of seating options from the bar area, a few table tops/barrels, and more couch and additional tables the farther you walk back. There are quite a few cocktails to try, tastings, wine and beers. I opted for the martini, it was strong, accent of citrus but well balanced. My friend had their old fashioned and was super happy with his choice as well. During our first cocktails we also had the Moroccann mixed nuts, they were perfect to munch on while sipping our drinks. We then decided we did want to try some of their tastings. We opted to try their white rum, bourbon and spiced rum. The white rum was some of the best i've had. (See photos for other options). The only negative of the place was the attentiveness of the staff. It took quite a while for someone to come to our table and I think it is seat yourself, as no one said otherwise. Our waiter was good but I guess half way through our time there I our waiter's shift was over and we had no one.  We ended up having to flag someone down, as did the table next to ours and we both had a new waitress. Our new waitress was so helpful, knowledgeable and on top of things which was a nice switch from our first impression. I do think this a new staff getting used to things so I am optimistic over time it will get a little better. I plan to be back very soon and add this to my top places to go hang out and grab a drink and snack. read more

Being at kingfly is like hanging out at your house but with much nicer furniture and a fantastic bartender in your kitchen. The beauty and ambiance of the place hits you as soon as you walk in. It's 2 floors impeccably decorated with lots of seating and different places to hang out (some tables and some lounge spots). We were there on a Thursday and there was live music on the second floor. The bar is located on the first floor, there weren't servers walking around but I don't know if that's because of Covid or if that's the norm. Either way, it wasn't an issue, it was a good excuse to explore when you got up to get another drink. They had a small snack menu, just enough options for someone that likes a small bite with drinks, but not enough for someone that's actually hungry (you'll have to go next door to Cinderlands which isn't a bad thing!). The drinks were delicious, strong enough and not overly sweet. This is the perfect place to relax and catch up with some friends for the evening or just to pop in for a drink to end your night. read more

This is a cool space! To be completely transparent, this review will be based on the snacks, service, and the space it's self.. The snacks are adorable and a great accompaniment to their cocktail list, but they are definitely not substantial. The hummus had good consistency but the garlic was very potent. The whipped Gorgonzola was way to funky for me, but my husband and friend enjoyed it. The smoked eggplant had me fooled - I was expected babaganoush but it was a chunky saucy egg plant. Tasty, but not baba. The lentil chips were delicious. The service was great. They have several bar tenders and several servers for each of the areas. She was attentive, so no qualms there. If you're in a large group I'd ask for the check to be split right at the beginning just to avoid the confusion later. The space is very unique. The decor is elaborate. There are what I would describe loosely as "rooms" throughout the first floor. Seating by the bar at high tops, low tops, intimate 2 seaters, large tables, a "living room" with couches lined by high tops - this area will be awesome for music. Overall - I would recommend for any slue of events! Large parties, first dates, pre dinner drink, night cap, girls/guys night, etc. I did wish that the music was a little louder and upbeat. We could hear a ton of conversation and I'm sure people heard ours. read more
