On my recent adventure to Chattanooga, my friend told me that I had to try Niedlov's Bakery, and it…read morewas truly everything it was described to be. I was hesitant when we arrived, seeing a line out the door and around the corner. However that line moved so fasts Nied did amazing getting people in and out. They had a huge selection of merch that was themed perfect to their mission and goals. The "We're all bread inside" design was probably my favorite. For meals, I got the Niedlov's Breakfast and my friend got the Ham and Gruyère Skillet. I loved what I got, but when I go again I think I will try a skillet because they all smelled amazing! I also got a Gruyère Bacon Chive Scone and a Orange Pan Suisse to take on the road. Both were outstanding. For my drink, I got one of their Blueberry Basil Matcha. I was a little nervous about the basil, but I can genuinely say it was my favorite drink of my entire trip. Lastly I want to say a special thank you to the staff. We thought we weren't going to be able to find a table, but when we found one at the last second, they actually offered to switch my meal to a skillet since they can't do those to go. Absolutely a five star experience and I am already anticipating my next visit.

I was in town for a work trip, and this bakery was very close to my hotel. Stopped in the first…read moremorning and got a pastry, biscuit sandwich, and a hot latte to go. That was so good, I went back the second day and ate in. That day I tried their breakfast plate, and that was excellent. High praise for the bacon, which comes from the butcher shop next door. The fried potatoes were also great! I opted for their sourdough toast, and enjoyed it so much I got a loaf to take home when I left. Their coffee drinks are very good - I enjoyed my latte both days. Service was very prompt - you order at the counter and they will bring food to your table. I was there mid-morning on a Friday, and it was packed! It's a really nice vibe, with an outdoor patio and the indoor seating area. After eating here, I can understand why they were nominated for a James Beard award. If you are ever in Chattanooga, this is worth the effort! 5/5, would absolutely go back!

Mean Mug Coffeehouse - Their amazing buttermilk biscuit (8/10), with butter and jam

This Mean Mug location is about the same as the Chattanooga North Shore location: an okay coffee…read moreshop with nice food and ambiance. The space was open and had great natural light, even towards the back of the seating area, which makes it a great spot to sit for a while with friends, read, or do some work. (I didn't see if they had wifi, though.) It has plenty of parking, and even coming from Chattanooga, it doesn't take too long to get to by car. Plus, it's convenient to other things in the Fort O/Rossville area, since it's right on Battlefield Parkway. Just like at the Northshore location, my favorite food item was their buttermilk biscuit. It's huge! Even so, it's still buttery and crusty in all the right ways, and it comes with more than enough jam and butter to spread on each bite, making it a fantastic deal. I'd definitely come back just for the biscuit. Their coffee is good and affordable, but since it's not great, I can't rate Mean Mug more than 3/5. It's in the same ballpark as Starbucks, but a touch better. It does have a drive-thru as well, so it has the same kind of convenience without being a union-busting mega-corporation.

The churro coffee was decent but the turkey club was by far the worst sandwich I've ever had. My first bite was nothing but warm sautéd spinach which I thought was odd for a cold club wrap they second bite I dipped in the spicy mayo (which normally is good elsewhere) and I couldn't even convince my self to swollen that bite. It was just awful. Ended up paying $30 (somehow) for a decent coffee, the caprese (that was just okay) and a sandwich I ended up throwing out. Won't be back.

The croissants have tasted dry both times as if they are a few days old, if you bring it home and put it in the microwave for 10 seconds it tastes better, but not what I would expect from a bakery Over all the facilities look clean and well kept, the people who run the bakery are passionate & it had a good ambience!

Good thing, too. We were about to try a few things that she steered us clear of. We ended up ordering: Cheesy bagel with cream cheese Everything bagel Chocolate croissant Ham and cheese danish Pumpkin chocolate almond croissant 2 iced coffees Some notes: -She heated up all of the items for us, which was tasty and delicious. -Coffee was good. Oat milk or half and half were available. -No plastic knives for the cream cheese. We used wooden coffee stirrers which was fine but clumsy to navigate. -Not sure why reviews are so bad for bagels because they were fluffy with just the right amount of chew (close to NY style). I will say that after it being toasted, the bagel was not soft enough the day after to eat. But day-of, it was great. -Small seating area typical of little cafes. A few outdoor tables as well. -Very friendly service. Accommodating and welcoming to our child circus -the cheesy bagel isn't the typical Asiago most places carry, but an actual cheddar blend. Yummy.

I was initially impressed with this place because ordering online allowed me to request ketchup on a breakfast sandwich for my husband which to my immense happiness meant I didn't have to disassemble and put it on it, myself! But then I instantly regretted not ordering an egg and cheese bagel like my husband did, when I unwrapped it for him and saw the perfectly melted cheese pouring from it. This is how impressive my husband's egg and cheese bagel was. My husband likes ketchup on his eggs. I feel like you either love ketchup on your eggs or you hate it or think it looks nasty enough you'd never try it and that's where I fall. For 10 years I've never eaten a morsel off my husband's breakfast plate, for fear of ketchup mixing with eggs and ending up in my mouth. But when I smelled and then unwrapped his breakfast sandwich to hand it to him to eat while driving, I had to take a bite, KETCHUP and all!! And to my shock, it was delicious. Will I be adding ketchup to my eggs, no. But would I eat a breakfast sandwich from Brothers if it had ketchup on it, absolutely.

When we go back we'll ask for "lightly toasted", because the ET was burnt in spots, but that was a small negative that is easily solved. Parking is tight, but people are moving in and out and there's plenty of communication between the comers and goers in the small lot. She Said: I don't have anything to add--he covered it pretty well! Potty Points: no trip to the potty for me!
