We stopped by Donut Palace in Fort Oglethorpe. They've been around here for years, kind of a steady spot in town. We picked up two blueberry cake donuts, two strawberry sprinkled donuts, and an apple fritter. The blueberry cake had that old-fashioned texture -- not too sweet, just right with coffee. The strawberry ones looked fun with the sprinkles, and they had a nice soft bite to them. The apple fritter was big enough to share, with that chewy-crisp edge I always like. Ok so this low key hidden gem is in the old Kmart parking lot. They have a drive thru. We went in so I could see what all they offered. In addition to donuts you can play the lottery. The shop was very clean. The donuts were well displayed. I love a good cake donut. We selected blueberry cake and cinnamon buttermilk cake donut. In addition we ordered 2 Bavarian cream filled eclairs. These are not the best donuts ever, but it sure beats driving to Chattanooga to k.k. The cinnamon buttermilk cake donut was super delish. They were all pretty tasty. E really liked the eclairs. We will definitely be back to visit. read more

Literally, you get fresh donuts in the morning (and coffee if you want) and they have any lotto pickings for you if you're feeling lucky. Nice little place nestled inside a nondescript strip mall. The selection of donuts is pretty good and everything looks very tasty. I had a cinnamon sugar cake donut which was great. Straight up it's a 5/5 stars. There simply aren't any other donuts in Northwest Georgia that come close. It's nice to see such good raised donuts as well as great yeast donuts. But the best thing going on here is the apple fritter. Just get in the car now and head over to donut palace. read more

Truly a hidden hole-in-the-wall gem. Literally been going to Donut Palace my entire life, particularly for the apple fritters. Never seen anyone else come close to replicating them. They make them thin, so they fry up crispy and don't get too dense. With chunks of apple in them, they have great texture. Just the right amount of glaze. read more

Donut Palace has reopened after a car decided to make the dining room a drive-thru. Recently visited and got my two favorites from here, the Apple Fritter and the Sour Cream donut. The Apple Fritter is HUGE, easily 8 inches in rectangular length, and full of apple chunks and plenty of cinnamon. Easily the best Apple Fritter I've ever had. The sour cream donuts are quite tasty as well...crispy tasty fried goodness...those are the must haves from here. I also decided to try the blueberry donut holes, and to be honest, they do not hold a candle to Julie Darling Donuts in this category. The shop is small...offering a few tables for snacking there...or if you prefer, you can play KENO while you eat and sip coffee....yes they sell lottery tickets as well...which is...different. Prices are quite reasonable and they offer a punch card for frequent visitors. read more

After 5 years of living here, I'm still surprised at the lack of donut shops here. Especially small. local donut shops. Back in So Cal you can't pass a block without there being a donut shop. Found this shop while driving around one Saturday and stopped in. Ah, the smell of fresh made donuts. Nothing like it. This is like the shops back home. Donuts are really good, reasonably priced. Lots of options. I love maple bars but haven't been able to really find them out here. But I did have a chocolate bar and it was tasty.
