I placed My order without being required to wear a mask.After waiting 15 minutes for my order to be ready, the order was incorrect although the receipt had my correct order. I approached the associate to let them know my order was wrong and was told I cannot speak to them with out wearing a mask. So they can take my money without a mask, but I can't explain that the order was detected incorrectly without a mask. All Meat Burrito (carne asada) and 2 Tacos (al pastor and carnita) - this is the perfect meal to get there. I go to King Taco about 3 times a month. I work near this location and the food is worth going back for. To be honest, I am not a big fan of Mexican food, because I hate beans and I try not to eat too much cheese. (plus to be honest, the food ain't the healthest in the world.) The red sauce is good but will give you heartburn for sure. Try this place out if you are a Mexican food fan. If you haven't heard of King Taco, you probably aren't from LA. On weekdays, try to make it before noon, otherwise be prepared to wait in a long line. I got three words for this place: best nachos ever. This place hands down has the tastiest nachos I've come across. A mixture of carne asada and al pastor topped with extra onions and cilantro with some of their green sauce and sour scream is a recipe for orgasmic mouth adventure. Their green sauce is tangy and mild. It's perfect for spicy tongues and the not so adventurous alike. King Taco is fairly cheap, good and fast service, and very clean. I have not been disappointed once coming here. Awesome place to grab a quick bite to eat before venturing into the night life of Old Town Pasadena. Went to King Taco a few days ago and got their carne asada burrito while my bf got two carne asada tacos and two al pastor tacos. He really enjoyed the tacos and my burrito was good just on the small size. I definitely should have gotten a taco or two to go along with it. The horchata was good too and I definitely like that you can get refills for less than a buck. Next time I'll probably just stick with their tacos and go to Los Primos for my burrito! Also, I should have listened to everyone on here when they said the hot sauce is realllllly hot!! Tears were literally streaming down my cheeks by the time I was done with my burrito and we definitely punished our toilet the next morning. The tacos are $1.25. They are also delicious. It can get busy in here but the food is consistently good. They also have a variety of tacos you probably can't find most other places... (tongue, face, etc.) One of the things I really appreciate is that their hot salsa is actually hot. It won't kill you but it will get your attention. Not that it's "diet" food. But you can eat three carne asada tacos for 360 calories. That's a pretty decent meal out for very few dollars and relatively few calories. read more

Not the best Mexican food I've ever had, but many people seem to love this place. The food is cheap and comes out quickly, and there's plenty of space to be seated. I've been here at various hours of the day and there has always been a line, but it's not too bad. I've tried a few things here, but the tacos are my favorite. The Carne Asada Nachos were alright.. Fries and nachos at other places usually have real cheese, but King Taco serves theirs with nacho cheese. I guess it just wasn't what I was expecting? I don't get why people like this place so much. First and foremost the service is horrible. Second, I got carne asada burrito and 2 carne asada tacos... and was still hungry afterwards. Portions are small and very plain, and they don't even have lemons or limes. Extra sour cream? Try 1.25 extra. Very disappointing place to eat. Good and cheap. The carnitas and al pastor are both excellent. I love the hot hot hot sauce! Never liked having two tortillas as one taco wrapping, so i always remove the outer one. These sort of fall apart when you do that (I know, that's why they use TWO), but I can't help but contemplate reducing the calorie count of the taco that way.. to make room for another one-tortilla taco. :) Or dessert somewhere else. Ambiance is fast-foody, so it's really just a come in, get in line (moves fast), order, pick-up when they call your number, sit and eat under the bright lights, and enjoy. Came here about a year ago to watch The Doors: When You're Strange movie!! Had some time to kill. Fairly good, not the best, and definitely not KING. Maybe I just don't get it, which is fine with me. I can live with that but I've had too many taco around the world that are better. By world I mean California! ;) But it's decent enough not to knock. Seemed too much for too little. I love King Taco. I have been going to various King Taco locations since I was a kid. My grandmother got me hooked on their carne asada, and sadly, I am a creature of habit. As much as I want to try their al pastor, carnitas, or chicken, I cannot resist the carne asada. If I close my eyes, imagine the smell of their all meat burrito, I will drool. Tacos are great too. And their salsa has a kick. My husband loves that they have horchata (I prefer Orange Bang). I am not a fan of this location for a few reasons. Firstly, parking is a pain in the ass. The King Taco is on the corner of Union (a one way, westbound street) and Arroyo Pkwy. If you are lucky, you might find street parking, but be sure to bring quarters. The last time I went, we parked on a lot on Raymond and walked, because there wasn't street parking. Second, while I am glad they have business, every single time I go it is beyond packed, and there is no space to wait for your food. As such, I have never had a speedy experience. Ordering is fairly quick, as most people are waiting on their orders, but the wait until you get your food (ordering to go does not expedite anything) is too long for my liking. Third, there are not enough tables. Four, as packed as it is, the air conditioning or a fan are never on, so it gets toasty just standing there. Lastly, as a Hispanic, I prefer the other locations where the staff don't speak English. Personal preference. I like the ones in East L.A. and El Monte best, not because their food is any different (it tastes exactly the same at all of them), but because I like the ambiance better, and they have private lots for parking. read more

This is one of my favorite taco places to get food. The lemon/lime flavored Carne Asada is awesome and they are the King of Tacos!! Tacos, Burritos or Tortas and you can't go wrong. Their nachos are a bit plain so unless you just want meat and cheese you will need to ask for cilantro and onion. The menu is simple basically pick from a handful of options, your choice of meat and time to eat. Their salsa is also fantastic but they tend to be a bit strict on giving it out like there's some sort of salsa rations (at least give me the option to buy some for a few $$). They are awesome at what they do and every location I've been to is consistent so anywhere you find one it should be good. Parking at the Pasadena location is not so awesome. There is a parking lot next door ($5) and is for the general area (not dedicated to King Taco). Across the street is a parking structure (also $5). There is street parking but that's a 50/50 gamble, if you can find a spot awesome, if not, see the first two for parking. read more

What else needs to be said, this is King Taco dammit !!! I've literally been to every King Taco location in Southern California but I prefer this one obviously because it's right in my backyard (Pasadena). This location is great as it enables me to get my weekly KT fix and not have to drive down farther south for it. Carne Asada Tacos, Burritos, Sopes are all off the hook. I always get the Chile Verde (Green Salsa) on the side with my items so it doesn't get all soggy. I also do this so I can manage to squeeze out a little more Salsa from them because they have a tendency to act like the soup nazi with their salsas. I know KT is a bit more pricier than other comprable Mexican joints but no one else comes even close to their flavor, period. Their Burritos tend to be on the more petite side so don't expect a Chipotle sized Burrito from here. The unique flavor (limey/citrus) of their Carne Asada more than makes up for it though. If you haven't tried a Sope yet, DO IT. It's like a mini Tostada but with an awesome crispy & chewy doughy tortilla (I think) instead of the usual yellow corn crispy tostada. The last 3 times I visited this KT location they were pretty generous with their salsa and didn't sweat me and give me anxiety about if I was going to have enough salsa to finish my meal (I'm a sauce drencher). Each taco is comprised of two attached mini corn tortillas with your choice of meat, onions and cilantro, and option for either red or green salsa - I go with the green every time! Taste/ Quality - The tacos are so simple yet have the ability to tantalize your taste buds with each and every mouthwatering bite. The meat is flavorful and tender, the onions offer a nice savory crisp, the cilantro adds that fresh zest only herbs can provide, while the green salsa infuses a spicy, succulent kick from green tomatillos. Oh man... writing this review is actually tempting me to return to King Taco to satisfy a second taco fix of the day! (They are also open late, which is great for satisfying late night cravings.) Service - the staff is pretty nice and friendly, and food comes out fast. There may be long lines, but everything comes out relatively quickly. Conveniently, credit cards are also accepted, which is another plus! Parking - there is a limited availability of street parking, but you can always park at the public parking structure located near the intersection of Raymond Ave and Holly St. (first 90 minutes are complementary), and walk on over. The other reviewers are probably not expecting the "hot salsa" to be so hot, as other chains that are supposedly "authentic Mexican" food, give you a watered down sauce. King Taco however, gives you true to the chile, hot. So if you are person that doesn't not like spicy, be aware of this. The food is great, the people that helped me were awesome, and the experience was what I expected from King Taco. Parking sucks, but that's what you get when you go through Old Town Pasadena. Believe me, not other people who love food from shitty places like Baja Fresh or Chipotle. That's not real Mexican food, real Mexican food is made by Mexican's not white kids...... Vegetarian wimp here. If I can find delicious things to eat at this authentic* Mexican restaurant, anyone can. You know that phenomenon in film that's called "suspension of belief"? Well, I do that with Mexican food that I know is almost certainly made with lard. I tell myself, "If it looks like starch, legumes, dairy, or vegetables, then it must be 100% vegetarian! It must be!!!" Having said that, the "vegetarian" stuff you can get here is basically anything you order sans meat. The dishes where that works out pretty well are plain quesadillas, plain sopes, cheese and jalapeno tamales, and plain tacos. I don't like chips so I'm not a nacho person, but if you are, you can make that vegetarian too. The bean burrito tastes fine, but I avoid it because it's just too much refried bean mush and the little bit of onions and cilantro don't do much to break the monotony. Same with the tortas, though the thick softness of the bread combined with the endless refried bean mush might make you like it less. One thing is undeniable: everything here is FRESH and legit. *I'm not Mexican so I totally just made that up. I don't know if the dishes are authentic, but the ingredients certainly appear so (for example, the cheeses used here are milder and fresher than any "Mexican" cheese I've tried elsewhere). read more

Last night my son and I went to eat there around 11:15 pm. The wait was long, so they made us wait outside, which was understandable at first. However, there was two asian couples who weren't allowed in by security. At this point, there was enough room for everyone outside to go in, but security were not having it. What was really wrong about this is that security would let other people in beside the couples in front of us. He offered my son and I to go in, but out of respect we refused until the people in front of us went in first. There was a total of 12 people left and the manager did absolutely nothing about the situation. Her name was Tiffany. I don't think we will ever go back here. read more

Came to king taco at roughly 5pm and waited in line for almost 30+ minutes. Finally get to the front of the line to not even be greeted by a cashier (Alexandria) that informs us that the full menu isn't offered with the biggest attitude. I've never been one to leave a bad review but the cashier and the girl handling the front could've informed those of us waiting in line that the wait for food would be an hour and a half. She had no problem telling those over the phone about the wait. 2 stars because I know the kitchen staff is trying their hardest and clearly with unprecedented times things are crazy everywhere BUT I've worked in customer service for over 8 years and know people value their time so a little consideration would be nice from a girl that's just standing there just opening the door.
