Incident Statement - King Soopers Date: December 30, 2025 Time: Approximately 22:48-22:50 (10:48-10:50 PM) Location: King Soopers (store location unspecified) On December 30, 2025, at approximately 22:48 PM, I entered a King Soopers store during normal business hours. The store's posted closing time is 11:00 PM. I entered the store to purchase a small number of items, specifically organic bananas and peanut butter. As I was walking inside the store, a female employee attempted to speak to me. At first, I believed she was speaking to someone else, so I continued walking to the right to pick up organic bananas. After I picked up the bananas, I noticed she was still attempting to talk to me. I removed my headphone so I could hear her clearly. The employee stated that the store was closed. I responded by explaining that the store was not closed, that it was approximately 22:50, and that I had entered the store before closing time. I also noted that the store closes at 11:00 PM. The employee replied that the store had to close at that time so employees could get out on time. I asked how that was my responsibility and stated that employees choose their jobs, and if someone dislikes their job, they should seek other employment. The employee responded that she loved her job. I replied that her tone, raised voice, and confrontational manner toward me did not reflect someone who loved their job. As I walked toward the peanut butter aisle, the employee again stated that the store was closed and that I could not get peanut butter. Instead of attempting to de-escalate the situation, she involved a security guard. The security guard handled the situation professionally and respectfully. He assisted me in locating the peanut butter and helped ensure that I was able to complete my purchase and exit the store without further issue. I completed my entire purchase transaction and exited the store before the store's posted closing time of 11:00 PM. At no point did I remain in the store after closing. If the store intends to stop serving customers at approximately 22:50, then the posted business hours should reflect that policy clearly and accurately. While I was leaving the store, I overheard the employee speaking sarcastically to the security guard about how I was "going to call corporate." I confirmed that I intended to contact corporate because I felt the employee had been rude, confrontational, and unprofessional. I also stated that I was unsure whether King Soopers wanted my business, as I had only entered the store to purchase bananas and peanut butter. This interaction was distressing, particularly given that I was purchasing food to maintain my health and avoid passing out after using a sauna. I believe I was treated unfairly and subjected to hostile behavior, which I perceive as discriminatory. I've been shopping at this King Soopers since 2006, and let me tell you--it's been a slow-motion train wreck ever since the pandemic. Today might've been the final straw. Yes, I understand supply chain issues exist. Tariffs, inflation, the economy--sure. But this location seems to treat "out of stock" like a competitive sport. I walk in with a modest list of 10 everyday items, and I'm lucky if I leave with 8. And we're not talking about exotic spices or rare produce--just basic stuff. It's like playing grocery bingo, and I never win at this particular store. Navigating the aisles is a full-contact sport. Employees are constantly stocking shelves during peak hours, and they seem to believe that "excuse me" is a foreign phrase. I've done less dodging in a game of dodgeball. Prices keep climbing, which would be easier to swallow if the store wasn't celebrating record profits in shareholder meetings. Meanwhile, the customer experience is circling the drain. And now--security theater! Two guards posted like statues at the entrance. I get it, shoplifting is up. But what exactly are they guarding? The empty shelves? Their presence feels more like a deterrent to joy than theft. The checkout process is a masterclass in redundancy. I use self-checkout, and yet I still get a mini audit from the attendant who reviews the video footage like I'm on trial. Then, with my arms full, I have to show my receipt to the security guards who just watched me check out. Pick one, folks. Either trust the tech or trust the guards--but don't make me feel like I'm escaping Alcatraz with a bag of spinach. Also, a note to staff: calling customers "hon" in a condescending tone doesn't soften the blow of poor service. It's not charming--it's patronizing. Some of the long-time employees who used to be great have clearly given up, and honestly, I don't blame them. The vibe in this store is "low morale meets bad management." I've visited other King Soopers locations within a 10-mile radius, and none of them have this level of chaos. Fewer empty shelves, fewer stocking blockades, actual open checkstands, and--imagine this--employees who seem like they don't hate being there. This store needs a serious reset. Jennifer Marryann Tom Jason Chris Chloe Donald and one other elderly Caucasian dark haired female clerk made my last few Grocery Delivery Service orders extremely uncomfortable and borderline insulted me. When I asked for help completing an online order I was met with extremely hateful energy basically accusing me of trying to steal...I deliver primarily to disabled and sick people and kids..sometimes hundreds of pounds up 3 plus flights of stairs...thousands of dollars spent. This is the only king Soopers that's ever given me such a hassle. Some employees are kind including security sympathetic when I mentioned the consistent harassment. Marryann told me to "shop somewhere else" and screamed "I'm not talking to you!" In front of line of other patrons when I was polite and respectful as usual last time I tried. I save reviews like this for special occasions but I've been met with anger and hostility EVERY VISIT! 655 Peoria deserves to be shut down. Some sort of power complex over fruit and vegetables. Again every other local king Soopers has been polite and helpful besides this one. read more

I came in tonight 3/30 at 10:00 PM and attempted to purchase a whole ribeye roast that was advertised on the weekly ad as well as on the app for $5.47/lb with the purchase of $25 or more. The manager on shift did not want to honor the deal and advised that it was already discounted so he wasn't gonna do it. I showed him the digital coupon on the app and told him it was on the weekly ad as well be he still wouldn't do it. He said, I should take the deal because it was already half off and that's a good deal already. He then said that there was no way for him to change the price, but I've had other managers override the price to honor other deals in the past. Why advertise this deal if it's not going to be honored? And why is there inconsistencies in management? Is a deal only going to be honored based on which manager is working that day? In addition to this, when the manager walked away, he started making side comments about me and the digital coupon to other members of the staff AND THEY STARED AND LAUGHED AT ME. How is this, by any means professional? To make fun of a customer in front of them. I don't believe that I'm in the wrong here but even if I was, I don't believe that I should have been put on the spot and embarrassed in such a way. Because if this, I won't be able to make a roast for Easter dinner in time now and I am highly upset because this affects my holiday. I plan to try again first thing tomorrow morning but I am irate that I have to come back to make a special trip for this. I have screen shots of the deal as well as the roast that I planned on purchasing. Please let me know, as a consumer, what I should expect when deals on the weekly ad or digital coupons come up, because if this is considered normal practice, it would be safer to shop elsewhere. read more

This store is constantly understaffed. Half of the self-checkout aisles are closed and the machines themselves are finicky, so the poor workers are constantly bombarded with questions and complaints from customers. I see customers abandoning their carts in the middle of the grocery store and walking out rather than dealing with the absurdly large lines that actually bleed into the grocery store aisles and block others from shopping. This is by far one of the worst and most hectic grocery stores I've ever been to. Do yourself a favor and go to any other grocery store nearby. Safeway and GW are much better options. They are about the same price, cleaner, and you will be in and out much faster read more

I walked into King Soopers tonight 1/28/25 about 9pm. I shopped for my toiletries then went to get Tide Pods. Because they have everything locked up, I had no choice but to push a button and wait for someone to come help me get out the detergent. I pushed the button and waited five minutes no one came. I pushed it again no one came. I waited like four more minutes (didn't push again tho) and no one came. So I went to find someone, I found this woman named Maryann (after the way she treated me I made sure I got her name from another employee) if that wasn't her real name she was a short Caucasian woman with dirty blond hair. I think she was a supervisor and she was at the self checkout station, I asked her to please call someone to help me open up the cabinet to get PODs. She with an attitude said she would, I told her okay I'm in no rush. I went back to the detergent and stood there for twelve minutes listening to my music and shopping in the first aid and medicine aisles across from the one with the detergent so I wouldn't miss when someone came to help me. I'm thinking like okay lol when I said I'm in no rush I meant I seen you are overwhelmed and annoyed right now so I'll give you a little time to do what you gotta do. Not I dont have a life and other stuff to do tonight before the stores close. like I did just wait before I even came to ask for help after pushing the button. So I went over there again I couldn't find another employee but by then she was at the money center desk and I asked her if she can please send someone to help me again she's gonna say I'm trying to close this desk or something im like I understand that mamm but when I told you to take your time I didn't mean like don't ever send anyone over here to help me I have stuff to do tonight as well. She caught a attitude and stormed off with me walking behind her she told me she's busy I said okay well can you have someone else help me then. You can have another employee assist me or whatever if you can't but I just want my stuff so I can leave and I've been waiting for a longgg time pushing the button over and over and no one ever came. She said in a louder tone the button does NOT work and that was it for me like wtf are you being so rude to me for when I just waited quiet and patiently so I told her and how exactly is that my fault? How is that my problem please tell me? I pushed it twice and waited you have no sign on it saying it doesn't work so how was I supposed to know? you have no right to be being rude to me over it please get me my stuff so I can go. By now my tone was matching hers. She gonna yell at me that I'm being rude to her and yelling at her and she won't help me. I said you never wanted to help me in the first place then she walked off said she was calling cops and security walked up to me I told em all I need is my detergent so I can leave and go wash my babies clothes and he was even ruder then her he was a Hispanic man with sunglasses on I told him I've been waiting for a long time you know it you seen me walk up to her a long time ago and ask for help you were standing right next to her. I'm like can she please send another employee over here so I can get my stuff and she refused to even send someone else again like I had asked her the first time. It was unacceptable. He then told me to leave the store and tried To refuse to let me ring up my stuff but at that point I could careless and no longer acknowledged anything he was saying and rung up and left with my stuff. Crazy thing is while this is happening im suddenly seeing other employees look at me ask for help but she still would not send one to help me and no one tried to help me. I did nothing to her but tell her the truth, the button not working and her not sending me help after that long was rude and inconsiderate. I am a Colorado Native I grew up in this neighborhood I've been coming to this king Soopers my whole life and I've never been treated the way I was today while in there. The customer service tonight was definitely unacceptable, inconsiderate and embarrassing. I will be taking the extra time to go a lil out my way to go somewhere else. I recommend if you go in there, go during the day while there's plenty of employees to help you if you need something because the night employees here are rude. I'd hate for you to encounter that Maryann and have your night ruined as well. She didn't want to help me at all or send anyone to help me She didn't even try after all my waiting. And kept calling us names followed us in the store and told us we couldn't purchase anything which is insane..thankfully the manager was so kind I'm sorry for him for dealing with this behavior will not be coming back there even if it's 3 min distance another worker which was a man was making racist remarks. read more

The security people are extremely rude, unprofessional, antognistic, using profanity at customers who are trying to use the self check out lanes and are hounded, criticized and lack proper training to be put in these positions that not only make customers feel uncomfortable, but extremely intimidated. I could understand if this had occurred only once but I have had multiple experiences with the rudeness of these folks that I will no longer shop at this store. I am have done business for years with Kroger/King Soopers and am so done with this lack of professionalism . I am a law abiding citizen,never have I tried to steal, misuse and or destroy your property, I have tried hard to be kind, pleasant, patient, and courteous every time I have shopped ANYWHERE.I may not be the best dressed person, be attractive or even the right ethnicity but I do not go into your establishment to be treated rudely, intimidated, or unprofessionally. You all need to go back to the drawing board and begin with constant repetitive customer service training not only with your security but wit your store clerks, stockers, customer reps and give a level of service that will not only improve moral amongst staff but transpire down to a level,of courtesy that your repeat customers as well as first timers will leave with a smile on their face, a kind word to your staff and less angst about shopping at your store. The only positive thing you have shown improvement at this location is the amount of homeless people constantly approaching folks coming and going into your store. Be wary masks are NOT mandatory here. There is a security guard at the front door but he per King Soopers policy is not allowed to ask the guests to wear a mask, and that are what shoppers are any where , guests of an establishment. King Soopers you are allowing your guests in YOUR building to put your employees and other guests at risk for a transmittable virus. Come for the groceries, stay for the cashier picking fights with customers... I choose not to shop here anymore because it's always extra. Husband went in a few minutes ago for lottery tickets, lottery machine is broken, here is a receipt to get your money back. Got in line for customer service and was told they were closed and to go see the head cashier. So in spite of the fact that he wasn't there for anything other than lottery tickets, he is now standing in line to get his money back. Walked inside for a couple of things. There was an employee letting everyone in front of us at the checkout. I said "there is a line" the employee proceeded to get rude with me. When I said something to the employee the girl that was there as the security walked up to me and threatened to kick me out for telling the rude employee to shut up. Very very poor service. If giving zero stars was an option, I'd give zero. Don't bring your own bags unless you want to empty them out and be accused of theft. There's a right way to do this, and a wrong way. Saying things like "I need you take the stuff out of your bag that you didn't pay for" is NOT the right way to ask for a receipt. Poorly managed. I have been shopping there for a while now and every time I went there I was disappointed. There are many expired products on shelves. Lines to check out go to the back of the store. Teenagers throwing products over an isle and employee just raising arms seeing it. I don't blame employees for any of it. The management is one to blame. I have been treated poorly by one of the supervisors there and I have been discriminated by him. Seeing all the bad reviews makes me think that corporation doesn't care. This is one of the worst King Soopers I have ever been in. And They say its in Denver but feels like its in Aurora. The store is clean though really outdated and its hard to navigate. The parking lot is an absolute nightmare getting in and out of due to the stores it shares the spaces with. The People who shop there and speak no english. I want to be up front on this review. I am biased with King Soopers. I love this place for grocery shopping. It has nothing to do with prices or anything, it's from the customer service I received when I locked my keys in my car one day. One of the workers helped me get into my car, sat with my groceries while I went to get a hanger from the dry cleaners that shared a lot, and made sure I was able to break into my own car. You don't get that kind of customer service anymore. Now, on to the review.. The store was very clean, the prices were very reasonable, the staff was quick with assistance in finding things, and we were in and out in no time. It's your typical King Soopers. While I am not normally in this location, I definitely felt like I knew where everything was. Top notch staff as well. read more

This King Soopers is a gem. It's clean, well-organized, has everything you need, and it's all prices very reasonably. The cashiers are friendly, hard-working and whip through long lines in no time. I just moved to the Anschutz Medical Campus area and was told it would be hard to find a good grocery store nearby, but this is the perfect place for me. Pretty much any place that needs you to have a "club card" is going to be more expensive than normal. And many of their "deals" will probably put the price at or slightly below what you would find at other stores. They aren't too expensive really. The store itself looks pretty clean. It also looks old though. I assume it's been around for a while. I prefer going to this store over the one on colfax when there is lots of traffic since it's faster to get to and away from the highways. I've never had any trouble with any of the staff. In fact the cashiers that I have had there have been very nice and sociable. They do have some sales though that are really good. I recently got a thing in the mail from king soopers for recently moving in. Had coupons for giving away a few things that I get a lot for free. I thought that was pretty cool. For the price, only one entrance, and it's appearance of being old I would have given it two stars. But because of the staff I'm giving it an extra one. read more

Theft is such a problem at this store that you now have to pay for all deli items at the deli before you are allowed to leave the deli. Once you pay for your deli items, you are permitted to go to the other, non-deli part of the store, get the rest of your stuff and pay at the other, non-deli cash registers. This is a new deli policy (not to be confused with a New Delhi policy, which is completely different). Cynthia, the deli manager, told me of this new policy today. And she is not the new deli manager nor a New Delhi manager but the old deli manager, so she knows how these things work now. It's like getting two stores in one but in a horrible, horrible way. They also don't sell prime cuts of meat because they can't sell anything that people like to steal because it all gets stolen. Elvis Presley sang a song about this store although the whole concept is much more romantic in his song than the shopping experience you will not enjoy at this store. If King Soopers truly cared about mankind, they'd do us all of favor and just bulldoze this store. read more

The store itself wasn't well organized and looked dingy. It was 7pm and they only had two regular cash registers open which meant a really long line and long wait to check out. Sooner or later I'll have been to every King Soopers in the Denver Metro area. The Del Mar King Soopers is just another stop along the way in my non-ending tour of grocers. The store is clean and well organized. I was in and out of here in a few minutes with what I needed. No problems, the staff was helpful when I had a question, and the self-service checkout was not busy at all. The parking lot can be a bit treacherous due to the large variety of stores in the same area, so plan ahead and be prepared to walk a little. read more

This is one of the older neighborhood King Sooper Shops around. The store is adequate for most of your needs but it isn't one of the hip ones yet and is missing some of the cage free egg and organic selections. It is still good for most of your needs. read more

I should have know when I saw the metal detectors that it was going to be a bad shopping experience. I was right. First of all, I have NEVER been in a grocery store with metal detectors. Second, the people in the store walking around asking people for money to buy food is heartbreaking and disturbing at the same time. I have wheat and dairy allergies and any other King Soopers I have shopped at least had the basics for people like me; bread, milk, creamer, butter substitutes, and a section in the frozen department; muffins, pizza, waffles, fish sticks. Not here. The luxury of not having to visit Sprouts or Whole Foods is a thing of the past. I was lucky to find crackers and margarine. They had very little that a person like me could work with. Then when I left, I had to deal with people trying to hit on me and push CDs down my throat. Worst King Soopers ever! Never stocked, empty shelves, dirty, parking lot is small and horribly designed, and security didn't even respond to a guy that was yelling "f**k the USA, y'all gonna die"! So on top of never having the shelves filled and being filthy, it's scary and unsafe! I don't know how management has kept their jobs! I moved here 15 years ago from Florida, the land of Publix, which is THE BEST grocery store in the country. Everyone I know that has experienced Publix has agreed. This store is great as a whole. It's clean, organized, great selection, fast checkouts, helpful staff, etc. My review is actually on its bakery. I ordered a birthday cake online for my husband and i wanted it in black and gold. The closest option was black and yellow so I asked in the coo,met section that if there was a way to tint the yellow darker to make it gold, that it would be great but not a big deal if they couldn't. The cake was indeed black and gold. I can't help but feel most places would just leave it yellow rather than do the tinting since it was ordered online. I was so happy with it and my husband loved it! Thank you King Sooper's beakers for going obsolete and beyond!! read more
