This is an example of what a bone in ribeye looks like from a butcher shop
Walter P.

I went to pick up an order that I had placed over a week in advance. After waiting in line for about 30 minutes because it was a very busy day in the shop, once I got to the counter, the individual assisting me could not find the order. He was running from room to room back-and-forth, trying to find it. He went back into the butcher room and I could see them cutting the order. But what he came out with was not what I ordered. But since the package was labeled appropriately, he tried to convince me that it was what I ordered. I had ordered two one a half inch thick ribeyes for grilling on Labor Day. What I received were two thick New York strip steaks. New York strip steaks and ribeyes are completely different shape. As you will see in the photos that I am placing with this review, the difference between a New York strip and a ribeye and what I received are clearly evident. And you can see that what I received was definitely a New York strip. I ordered, waited for, and paid for extra thick ribeye steaks, and went home with New York strip steaks. I didn't feel like arguing or making a big production in the store so I just kept my mouth shut and left. I will definitely reconsider ever going to this butcher shop in the future. I will likely go to other butcher shops. I was very disappointed, especially because I had been here numerous times in the past and I've always been very happy with what I received. I know it was very busy in the store, but I just feel like I was bamboozled. It's very unfortunate that someone in a butcher shop was unable to realize the error even after I mentioned it and proceeded to convince me that I was getting what I ordered. When I most certainly did not get what I ordered.

They have the beef!

If you ever make your way to Denver and want to take a short trip to the Aurora area, Sam's is a great place to check out. They have a huge selection of local meat and wild game. We visit every time we are in the Denver area. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the cuts of meat are amazing. We have been a couple of times, but the last time we went we probably left with about $300 worth of wild game. There is every cut of bison available including ribeye which is probably the most amazing cut of steak ever. There are also some other specialty items like boar bacon and fresh free range chicken. The chicken was probably the freshest I've ever tasted, and boar bacon has a super clean taste, compared to regular commercial bacon. We even found some very tasty bison bacon, which I didn't think would be as good as it was. Duck wings, elk, ostrich -- you name it. Take a trip to Sam's, freeze whatever you buy overnight, and take it home with you. It's totally worth it to bring stuff home from this place. Sometimes the lines are long, but they have a nice number pull system to keep your place in line, while you look at their large selection of sauces, and other unique condiments. There is even a section of pre-frozen food in every cut you can think of. We definitely load up on the bison and venison while we're there. They even have elk, and kangaroo! I can't come to Denver without getting my boar bacon and bison ribeye! The best cuts of meat ever!

Stopped by here after seeing reviews online. This is hands down the nicest butcher shop / meat market I've ever been to. It's so nice and clean, but the important part is that the meat is out of this world quality. You'll have meat dreams in there. It'll make a liberal vegan who works for PETA, a carnivore. The quality of there steaks are so prime they could be considered wagyu. They also have the best Wild Game section I've seen with the most offerings and different game. Be adventurous! I will be driving an hour and 15 minutes one way to buy their stuff all the time.

I try to use my 5 star rating sparingly, but Sam's easily earns all five of those five pointed figures. I started by making an inquiry through their website contact form asking about what kind of meat they would recommend for beef jerky. Debra Sam contacted me with the recommended cut of meat, and also how to contact them to place an order for pickup. Yes, you can phone your order in and pick it up or you can go in and order on the premises. If you go in, you'll need to take a number, so be sure you do that unless you're the only one there. I phoned in my order. Shannon took my order. She was very helpful, personable and professional. I asked it they'd slice it for me, and they did, free of charge, and exactly the way I wanted it. A couple hours later I went to pick it up. None other than Cris P. Bacon helped me. Yes, that's really his name. He was born to be in the meat business. Anyway, he was super cool and retrieved my order right away. Great guy. Great name. I'm terrible with names, but his is one I can easily remember. It's an incredibly well run business. It's easily one of the best meat markets I've ever visited. It's clean, there's a huge variety of meats, including exotics, and just about anything else you could imagine that would go along with cooking meat, including wood chips and such for barbecuing.Oh yah, they also have a very nice selection of fish. Sam's is located in a shopping center. There's tons parking and it's easy to get in and out of there. I could go on and on, but you get it, this is a great meat market. If you want good quality meat or fish, Sam's is a no brainer.

She recommends to come in not in your best attire because your clothes will smell of seafood and drippings of butter and what seasoning you choose. My goodness! I love this "eating messy" restaurant! The choices are grand including seasonings of your choice. My daughter and I opted for garlic and butter (who doesn't love butter)! They provide plastic bib, and gloves, of course. We picked what was on the menu: daughter had Dungeness crab, I chose clams and snow crab. It comes with corn cob, 2 whole potatoes (plenty to eat). Here comes the server; puffed up plastic bag, she shakes it to mix those buttery goodness etc and she opens the bag - viola your seafood looks deliciously amazing. I dug in (oops don't forget to take your watch off) ....absolutely delicious and the seafood was really fresh! I grew up in "seafood" country and freshness is a "thumbs up for this place. Yep, it was buttery messy for me but I was a gluttony messy eater! Denver-ans if you love seafood check this place even though it's "messy, dribbling" it's delicious. Like any seafood, you are expected to have a "pocketful of greens." Good quality seafood does that if you eat out. I will return before I leave and head back to Idaho if I have time - more restaurants to visit! Don't order the calamari appetizer. The server was sweet and took it out of our bill (I mentioned it was not what I expected-chewy and just ordinary and heavily crumbed).

On top of this, you get auto gratuity charged, so your servers don't feel like they should tend to your table as often because they don't have to work for their tip. +Wouldn't it make sense that if you get auto grat you should be able to at least get a perk of a reservation if good service isn't going to be included?

I came with a few friends and it was a fun experience to try. You start off by ordering with the waitress and then the subsequent rounds, you order off the QR code that's at the table. The restaurant was pretty busy so we had to wait longer than we wanted to place an order. As far as the food, it felt more like baos and dumplings, not so much the classic dim sum styled foods. Another con was that the menu had so many non available items-items that would have completed the dim sum experience a little better. If you want actual dim sum, go somewhere else. It was fun for the experience and value, so I was glad we came once.

It was literally just lettuce with a heap of hidden valley ranch drenched on top. However, mostly everything was pretty good. The fried rice was delicious and the crab cheese wontons were so yummy. There were a few items I had never heard of before and gave em a go. The lava buns (sweet and salty egg custard filling) were so delicious and had a nice sweet flavor. Service was great.
