Turf area with food truck
Katie B.

First time here... good experience. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has plenty to do- foosball, pool tables, golden tee, corn hole, Jenga, toys for kids. There's a permanent food truck on site- El Cubano Jax. Didn't try it because we had other plans but the menu looked good. Service was pretty quick for only having 1 bartender when we were there. It was a nice, chill spot to have a few brews while the kids were playing. Only suggestion would be to add a TV out in the warehouse area-- we went somewhere else so we could watch the derby

Glassblowing!

Such a cool place. Reutilized industrial building. So much awesome things to do and great staff to keep the beer and food flowing. They also offer glassblowing every so often. Check 'em out.

We stopped into King Maker to refresh and refuel after an afternoon of curio and vintage shopping. It was the perfect choice. King Maker Brewery had a nice amount of diverse styles on tap (I am fan of sours and was not disappointed) and the kitchen had upscaled what are often considered to be bar food standards. We tried burgers and chicken sandwiches - and enjoyed them all - but the corn bites and fried pickles are what stood out for our group. Both the bites and pickles were lightly breaded and fried perfectly. Crisp outside, molten inside. The pickle's sharp vinegar cut the oil beautifully. If I could get an order now, I would. There were a good number of options on tap ensuring something for everyone. We tried the Ziggy Salz and Sweet Caroline, and both lives up to their names. The Ziggy was salt forward, but not tongue burning, and the Sweet Caroline was not cloying. We also enjoyed their dry cider which reminded us of some of our favorite British local brews with it's crispness. The testing room itself is pleasant, clean, and decorated with the work of local artists. The staff was fun, knowledgeable, and took great care of our party. Things to know: * Even more variety to be trapped in the months to come as the brewery brings additional equipment online. * There is a beer garden if you'd prefer to sit outside. * King Maker also has an event space, which may be just what you need, or may cause some parking heartburn depending on whether it is you event or not.

Friday night BBQ. Very good!

Beer is okay. We got a flight which is always fun. They have a BBQ food truck that's here on Fridays. The other food trucks are on their website. BBQ was delicious. They have some glass blowing classes which is cool. They also have pottery classes too. Wide area where people do the arts and crafts and smoke cigars and play ping pong and pool. Lots to do and space to spread out and hang out with friends.

Service is fast and friendly, can be pretty busy on weekends and special events! Beer is good, a little on the hoppy side for me but I was able to grab an el nortoño and was happy with it!

Good beer and sours! Every other Thursday is open mic night & the comedians are funny and down to earth... would love to come back. It's outside seating, so bring a jacket!

Flight of sours

King Maker Brewing has one of the best vibes of the Jax breweries and some of the best sour beers I've tried! Came here on a Sunday afternoon after lunch in Riverside after seeing how many sours were on the menu. We ordered the flight inside and immediately took it to one of the picnic tables in their open air section. There were darts, games, and a live band inside. What a lovely way to spend a sunny day! They also had amazing looking pretzels which sadly we did not try since we were full. It also looks like they have a lot of cool events during the week. As for the beers, each one was tasty but the kiwi melon sour was by far my favorite! You could really taste the melon in it- super refreshing! Thanks for a great experience King Maker- we'll be back again soon (and this time we'll try the pretzel!)

Had a great time visiting this brewery. I loved that they had nonalcoholic options. There's a food truck on site that has amazing burgers and fries. If you stop in you must try the cheese fries w the pickle sauce. The food is fast and very good. This brewery is a playful spot complete w tons of board games to enjoy while you sip. Love the casual feel inside. Our bartender Kyle was fantastic and assisted us in our beer choices for a satisfying experience.

Great beer, great service and an amazing layout. I almost didn't stop here as this was the last place on my list to try but I'm so glad I did. This is one of the best breweries in Jax, hands down. They have everything for adults and children to stay occupied. If I lived in the area this would be my go to spot to hang out. I'll be back for sure!

It's been awhile since we have visited and since weather is so gorgeous today we walked down! The beer I wanted from website was gone, the hood ones go fast. This is the busiest I've seen in in awhile! There is also a food truck!

What else..beer!

I saw a really cute Octoberfest ad on Facebook so we invited another couple (who were in Germany a number of years) to go with us. I'm glad they did not dress in German garb bec this was a very casual place. It has 3 areas, 1st you go in a building with a/c and tables etc to get beer and order food, then you could go outside to an Astro turfed enclosed area (number of people with their well behaved dogs and kids) with a food truck (makes the food and then brought to you) in front of it an open building behind it, the 3rd area (the building behind) was a large roofed open space that had numbers of picnic tables, 2pool tables, other game options (including a huge play area for kids-playhouse, etc.) and the brewing vats to the side. What I saw and wondered about was they also had a trailer parked inside that showed "Brunt Ends" the glass blowing company. I guess they offer workshops there too...cool! The pretzel was fresh, warm, buttery snd good! There was a great variety of beers and our informative bartender worked with us to get the right one for us. We wanted chicken schnitzel but they were out so we order a sampling platter of bratwurst, knockwurst and kielbasa all grilled, with two mustards..also very good and plenty for two! To top it off this night that had people trying their comedy routines out....

Made this awesome glass in the Glassblowing Workshop they have and my niece made one as well. Such a fun experience with Burnt Glassworks!

Smoked wings, curry wurst, smothered fries, and soft pretzel

My friend ordered us the Pork Belly Kimchi Fries, I got us an order of the Cheese Curds, and for my entree I got an order of the Asian Sticky Wings. I probably would have never ordered the kimchi fries on my own. Sometimes kimchi can be fickle and really hit or miss. It was definitely a hit here. More on the sweet and tangy side but worked really well. Fries seasoned perfectly, and the pork belly cubed and cooked to perfection. Out of all of the times I've been to Wicked Barley, these fries have to be one of the best items I've had from there. Cheese curds were pretty basic. Tasted great, but nothing to write home about. If you like Cheese curds, you'll enjoy theirs. I originally had my eye on the jerk chicken wings and I was warned by the waitress and my friend that they are REALLY hot. Jerk chicken is generally one of those thats right on the borderline of too hot for me. To give you an idea, if you're familiar with Butthutt BBQ's jerk chicken, theirs is as far as I can go for spice level. So I switched it up to be safe, and I am glad I did. Sweet and sticky, these had really great flavor inside and out. Would definitely get these again in the future. Brought a couple home to the hubby and he seemed to enjoy them too, and he normally doesn't like, what he refers to as, "sweet meat". I had three different beers in my favorite tasting style, sour. I had the PB&J sour, the mango sour, and the orange cream sour. The orange cream was my favorite of the 3. We enjoyed the sounds of the band Splittone in the background and enjoyed the whole vibe of our meal. I'm hoping to visit again on a future weekend and possibly bringing one of my pups along with me since they are dog friendly.

Good food. Couple of gotchas but nothing much. Definitely will be back....

I arrived unaware of its history, but the owner's love for basketball is unmistakable, and the locals reflect that same devotion... not just to the sport, but to the space itself. There's an ease here, a sense that people aren't just passing through. I took a seat at the bar, did what one does in such environments, and ordered an IPA. It was solid... confident, balanced, exactly what you'd hope for. But then came the onion rings, which I ordered based on a subtle but unmistakable social cue: everyone else seemed to be eating them. Reader, they were correct. These were not mere onion rings. These were structurally sound, texturally precise, and philosophically complete. Large, fully cooked onions, no trace of that unpleasant raw bite, encased in a crisp, golden coating that somehow maintained its integrity from first bite to last. Crunchy, consistent, and deeply satisfying. Naturally, I paired them with blue cheese dressing because I'm from upstate New York, and that is not a preference, it is doctrine.

The brewery has a really cool vibe to it, and they also have plenty of TVs where they were playing sports. I know they are a brewery and probably really good at it, but I came here for the pizza. Their selection is small but mighty. When we asked the staff what he recommended, he said all of them (not making it easy buddy). Since they are on the smaller size, we decided to get three and planning to take home some leftovers. My favorite by far was the Pancetta Garlic pizza. At the beginning I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of garlic, but damn was I wrong. The garlic was cooked to perfection and literally melted in your mouth. I don't think I've ever seen a similar pizza anywhere else, and made it even more surprising. Frankly the other two we had were also very delicious, but I truly give it the top spot to the prosciutto garlic. Last but not least, I like that they had THC on the menu. As someone who no longer drinks alcohol, it is nice to see other options available on the menu.
