I had the special fried rice with fried chicken wings. Wings were good and flavorful, but the rice was terrible. The sweet and sour chicken was also not great. Overall I'm not sure how close there other takeout but I wouldn't come back.

We went to Ume Japanese and Chinese restaurant for dinner a couple of days ago and were pleasantly…read moresurprised! The place is located right on highway 90 in Marianna; their parking lot is ample. Their front and side of the building need a fresh coat of paint though. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were asked for our party number and were seated at a table. The front of the place was being used for dinner that night and the back had their lights off. The waiters were all young men who were dressed in similar clothes resembling a uniform. They were polite and diligent. They have small sushi bar where they make their wonderful rolls. Their menu is large and they offer a variety of dishes from appetizers to bowls, dishes and sushi. Our waiter offered advice on what vegetarian sushi rolls were better and what their ingredients were. We ordered the orange chicken with fried rice and a dish of beef and broccoli with fried rice. We also ordered a hot green tea and sweet tea. The sushi roll was beautifully presented in a ceramic and decorated dish with small bowl for the soy sauce. We asked for chop sticks, which our waiter promptly pulled out of his apron's pocket. The table was clean and set with a fork and spoon, and condiments. The green tea was also presented in a clean, ceramic white teapot with a ceramic cup. Our food came out shortly after presented in delicate cream colored ceramic dishes, which enhanced the food colors and overall presentation. The food was delicious and the portions generous. This place stands out and differs from the traditional Chinese restaurants where they serve a large tray of the main dish and a bowl of rice. We loved their food and overall appearance of the restaurant. The waiters were diligent and polite. We highly recommend UME Japanese and Chinese Restaurant is Marianna, FL.

Hot & Sour soup was spicy and chocked full of veggies. Small bowl was big!! The fried rice is unique but I really liked the flavor. Egg roll is tiny (and doughy inside). That was fine since there was so much food for lunch. I ordered a to-go lunch serving of Curry Chicken. I was surprised that it only had rice & main dish, no egg roll or soup like what I got for my meal I ordered at the table. I will remember next time to specify steamed rice since I was never asked, and it came out with fried rice for both meals. Appearance of the restaurant-It's showing its age both in/out but it's clean. My overall take is that it's not my favorite Chinese restaurant but when I'm having a hankering for Chinese, I won't hesitate to eat here.

Instead, it was served with a brown, whole-grain style rice. Nowhere on the ordering platform was this substitution mentioned. My partner also paid an upcharge for chicken fried rice. Not only was the same whole-grain rice used, which is not typical for this dish, but the container contained only one piece of chicken. It is unclear how a dish can be presented as chicken fried rice when there is almost no chicken included. Overall, this was a disappointing experience. I am not sure if white rice is unavailable at this establishment or if this was an oversight, but the lack of clarity regarding the rice and the extremely minimal amount of chicken are both unacceptable.
