This cart makes some bomb Halal food. I've retried the best ones in NYC (Halal Guys, Adele's, Middle Eastern Halal cart) and this one definitely has the best meats, rice and sauce. The yellow rice is super fragrant and it's seasoned just right. Meats taste much different than any other food cart. Lamb is not salty and has a milder flavor than others. Chicken is great and I def need that recipe. Sauces are made in-house. The guy there is Lebanese and is the owner. Super nice and friendly. Value is fantastic when the platter is $9 and the gyro is $8. Portions will fill you up. Next time I definitely want to see if their Mix Sandwich is as good as Middle Eastern. My boyfriend and I have been passing King Halal a bunch and we finally decided to take the plunge and check out his stand! (They are always pretty busy whenever we pass) The final verdict: our new favorite cart now! The portion size: AMAZING and for $7 you literally can't beat it. We also love that the side salad comes with olives. Now lets' get to the most important part: The sauces! I'm a huge fan of a good green sauce and was so happy to find out he had his own. The green sauce is a must- super tangy and full of cilantro goodness. Lastly, the service- Ahmed is super friendly and we always have a great conversation with him. Damn . . . I'm really disappointed.. I just moved to Astoria last week from California and was in search for a barber. I ended up walking 30 mins for my hair cut (which was sub-par) and on the way home my girlfriend and I came across King Halal. First Ahmed gave us Falafel, which was extremely good . He even gave my Frenchie a piece of chicken . (My dog also said it was good, could he have another piece ) We then got two orders of the Chicken Plate with all the sauces . He mentioned he was the best .. so it was time to put him to the test . MY GOODNESS . . F I R E ! It was so good ! So flavorful ! As I finished my plate I got more and more upset of how good it was. This was our pre-Thanksgiving meal on the way home. Between the two of us, my husband and I split the chicken & rice, and the chicken falafel gyro. We shamelessly devoured the chicken & rice in the car. Initially the cubed falafels took me by surprise but they are very well seasoned and go great with the chicken and rice, which were also very flavorful. We saved the gyro for when we got home and despite it no longer being hot (it was a half hour drive home, fyi), it was still delicious. It had similar contents as the platter but wrapped in a tasty, perfectly toasted pita. Great value for the money and super friendly guy making the food. This is my favorite halal food in the area. It used to be located on 31st street but is now on 30th avenue near 34th street. The chicken, lamb and falafel are always great, the salad ingredients are fresh, and the sauces are on point (try them all but don't skip the green sauce or tahini). Great portions and prices too.
