Not sure what it was, but they did have a unique taste with a flaky crunch that surely warrants them royal status. The shrimp ball, meh, not so much. Ok but really, this was solid takeout. Since this new restaurant had opened, I'd been meaning to try it and see what they had to offer! It was definitely on my to do list after the many target trips, round table trips, and even sally beauty supply store trips. There's always been a reason to drop around the Morill shopping center, but it wasn't until recently I stopped by to see what they had in store! The dining hall itself is large enough to accommodate, however it was on the warmer side with no A/C so it wasn't the most comfortable having it be one of the hottest days of the season. However, their set up was very clean and eye catching, there's an associate at every end to answer any questions, box the food up, and even take care at register. My mother had ordered her usual favorites, chicken chow mein, fried rice, etc. unlike most Chinese restaurants that offer veggie spring rolls as their only vegetarian option- King Egg Roll Express really had a nice abundant selection! Their standard chow mean was made with chicken seasoning and pieces itself, but their vegetarian option had been seasoned with soy, with a nice selection of steamed veggies mixed in. What was also nice was they had two types of vegetarian rolls, one being the fried roll and the other the rice paper wrapped one filled with carrots! The girl at the counter was very helpful with the ingredient content, and helped us get everything bagged promptly. However, some food was made fresh so there was little room to sit and wait for the order. What was nice is that when you type in your phone number at register you get signed up to receive points for every $1 spent and you can accumulate free food goods your next visit! After missing out on some yummy vegetarian friend Chinese food, I was ready to dig in. I really enjoyed the soy seasoning for the chow mein, it tasted more on the saltier side, but it paired well with the veggies mixed in. The spring rolls, were the best offered here and their red sauce has the perfect ratio of sweet and sour! Having vegetarian options was a major plus for me, and the freshness and taste were enough to bring me back this way next time I'm in the mood for good Chinese food at a moderate price. read more

Favorite location is still the King/Berryessa spot, even with people spare-changing outside, the poorly designed parking lot, and the cash only policy. Perhaps it's the childhood nostalgia of waiting for eggroll trays before every holiday party/graduation/potluck/birthday/etc. However, King Eggroll Express has its high points, with a clean interior, proximity to my retail addiction of choice (now fried siu mai can be an official part of the Target run), and acceptance of credit cards. Better run than King Eggroll on Calaveras, with better food. The only downsides at this location are: there are no banh mi sandwiches and the pre-packed items, like the grilled pork vermicelli salad and various summer rolls, run out quite early. Not very tasty. My boyfriend thought that this was like another King Eggroll he has frequented and then, after tasting the rolls we got, he was: not the same! I found them too greasy, not tasty, just like something hot you eat when you have nothing else. I would not go back again. Ok lets start at the beginning i was 3rd in line and after placing my order it took 15mins to receive it(not very Express to me) after getting my food and taking it home i found halfway thru my meal a half of a toothpick in my sandwich(not fun!) Called to clarify how much shrimp balls cost for a small tray, the worker said it was 30 pc for $30.60. I clarified additional two times to make sure it was three zero sixty for thirty pieces. Spelled it out. And she said yes. Well when I picked up the cashier said $48. After I clarified serveral times. Asked for the manager and can hear her bitching at the worker in the back that she can refuse service. This was all in Vietnamese and yes I can understand what she was saying. This King Eggroll is our go to place for nights when we don't want to cook or when we go hang out at our friends house. Our favorites are the veggie chow mien thin noddles, dim sum: xui mai, har gow, shrimp ball, and wonton soup on a cold day. Prices have gone up a little bit but is still reasonable. the food was ok, but the service was not. i was with my mom and i had already ordered but my mom had a question and wanted me to ask the server for her. as she was telling me, the server asked "for here or to go" and i told her politely to wait. i turned back to my mom and my mom continued with her question. the next thing i hear is YELLING from the same server going "for here or to go." if a customer politely says to wait, just wait until they get back to you. yelling at the customer to get your answer is not the way to handle things. to giggle at my mom on the way out because she was mad and upset at how you interrupted her is poor customer service. basically my main point here is, yes go for the food, but the servers need to watch what their doing other than serve people food. read more
