I ordered takeout from here one night and found myself asking "how have I not ordered from here…read morebefore?" The restaurant is on Westcott Street and has been open literally longer than I've been alive. It very much has the vibe of a local spot that probably has regulars. Parking can be tight on Westcott itself but there is a small lot that they share with Mom's diner. Inside there's a bar and a second dining room with a stage where I think they do trivia. Lots of nice decor. It feels very homey. I heard they had a hummus shake and was intrigued to try it. They have a bunch of syrups they can mix in to flavor it. It was interesting. Very very syrupy sweet, and the taste is unusual at first but kinda grew on me. The real star was the savory food though. I went for a shrimp gyro. As a pescatarian, I was psyched to see this on the menu because most places around here only have falafel or meat, so it was nice to have another option. The shrimp were SO PLUMP and well seasoned. Very big size and quite full inside the pita. Felt that I was getting my money's worth. The vegetables were very fresh, pita soft, and sauce perfectly tangy. To be honest I'm still dreaming of this. I'd try more of their options. Also worth noting, when I called in my takeout order the hostess (/server?) was so incredibly courteous and friendly in a way that feels fairly rare anymore.

Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more.. I used to go to Munjed's on Westcott Street all the time, which makes this experience particularly disappointing. Unfortunately, after this visit, I can confidently say I will never eat here again. I ordered the Beef Kebabs, and what arrived was nothing like what I expected a kebab to be. The beef had a strange vinegar-like taste, and several pieces appeared seriously undercooked. Looking at the plate, I honestly couldn't understand how this was being presented as a beef kebab. I want to make it very clear that our waitress was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and provided great service. My complaint is absolutely not about her. Once I realized there was a problem with the beef, I mentioned it while we were still eating our appetizer. The waitress brought my concern to the cook, who apparently questioned why I hadn't said something earlier. (You could hear him because we were in ear shot of the open kitchen.) I'm not sure how much earlier I could have said something--I mentioned it once I had actually tasted the food and realized something wasn't right. What bothered me even more was the impression that the cook simply didn't seem concerned about my complaint. Unfortunately, things became much worse after leaving. On my way home, my mouth became extremely itchy, and after arriving home I experienced sudden, explosive diarrhea. I cannot medically establish what caused those symptoms, but the timing after this meal was extremely concerning to me. I've watched Munjed's change over the years, and in my opinion, since moving into the storefront across the street from its former location, the quality has gone seriously downhill. That's especially disappointing because this was once a restaurant I enjoyed and visited regularly. Great waitress. Great service. But unfortunately, one very bad dish and the response to my concerns ruined the entire experience. After what I was served and what I experienced afterward, never, ever again.

Chicken, beef and lamb over rice with salad and sauce with two slices of pita over the top to soak up the juices! All for $15. I really feel like i got more than my money's worth, enjoyed the meal, and would go back hoping to try something else but would likely get this again because it was so good. Filling, flavorful, and Full sized. I ate about 3/4s and will have some more for tommorrow.

The meats were melt in your mouth savory and delicious, and although the sauces were already generous (amazing!) the extra just further enhanced the meal. I will certainly be ordering again.

To start, I stand by this being one of, if not the best shawarma stop in the Syracuse area. We've frequently gotten both the beef and chicken shawarma sandwiches (and on occasion, the falafel as well). However, when we went to pickup we were disappointed to find that they were no longer include a drink in their combo, although it is still listed on their website, in addition to prices being increased. This is certainly new given we last picked up in September where the drink was included and was also confirmed by the man at the front counter who simply said "yeah, we don't include drinks anymore". The flavor was not what it usually was, making us quite sad that our favorite spot is our go to no longer...

Our server was the son who's one of the owners and it's obvious how much he cares about the restaurant and his guests. We really felt taken care of in a way that tands out compared to a lot of restaurants. The dining room was busy but he always took the time to check on us, joke with us, and make us feel absolutely welcome. We both got mocktails. Mine was so flavorful and refreshing, just the right mix of tart and sweet. For our first course we got the spicy feta hummus which is homemade and served with homemade pita. The bread was warmed and very light. The hummus was rich. I loved the kick of the spices and the creaminess of the feta, the exact right amount of heat. For my main I got the fried cauliflower wrap with lentil soup. The soup was warming, well spiced, and perfectly comforting. The wrap was unreal in its flavor. Well seasoned cauliflower fried the exact perfect amount, fresh lettuce and tomato, a creamy sauce. Divine. I was stuffed halfway through but soldiered on because it was so delicious I couldn't put it down. Very reasonably priced as well. Didn't have a bad bite or sip here and I suspect that if I ordered everything on the menu, I'd love it all. This is an outstanding mediterranean restaurant in a city that has no shortage of them. Absolutely worth the drive out to Manlius. Go watch the swans, walk around town, and have a wonderful meal here, you won't regret it.

We were excited to finally give it a try, and the food absolutely lived up to the hype. This was easily the best Middle Eastern food we've had in Central New York. We started with the hummus appetizer, which was fresh, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the delicious house-made and warm pita. I ordered the beef and lamb gyro, and my wife had the beef kebabs. Both meals were outstanding, and we'll definitely be back for the food. Unfortunately, what keeps me from leaving a five-star review was the service we received from our server, Megan. I'm not sure whether it was because we arrived about an hour before closing or if she was simply having an off night, but from the beginning, the service felt rushed and inattentive, and it never improved. Just a couple of minutes after we were seated, she asked if we were ready to order. When we said we were still looking over the menu, she simply replied, "Okay," and walked away without asking if we had any questions or explaining the menu. My wife had to stop her as she was walking away to ask what drinks were available. A few minutes later, when she returned to take our order, she took our appetizer order and my wife's entrée order while looking around the dining room, said "thank you," and immediately started walking away without taking my order. I had to stop her so I could order my meal. During our meal, while I had my gyro in hand and was about to take another bite, I noticed her standing beside our table preparing the payment terminal. My wife looked at her, the server said "sorry" and then set down the payment terminal on the neighboring table instead. Once we were finished, she handed us the payment terminal and then asked whether we'd like dessert or coffee, after already presenting the check, which felt a bit odd. After I paid, I was in the middle of selecting how I wanted my receipt when she took the payment terminal away before I could finish, leaving me unable to receive an itemized receipt for our meal. The food was exceptional, and we'll absolutely be back because the kitchen deserves every bit of the praise it receives. That said, we'll be requesting a different server next time. The service we experienced tonight was disappointing and didn't match the quality of the food. On a positive note, there was another server working this evening who was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I didn't catch her name, but she left a much better impression and reflected the kind of hospitality we were hoping to experience.
