I felt like they're not that generous on seasoning each dish. It had a light scent and flavor but it's not enough to give a "WOW" taste. It's a tease taste on each dish. The first bite into any dish feels like "oh it smells good. Does it taste good?" And then as I bite into it and swish it around in my mouth, I can barely taste any flavor. It's a meh/whatever taste. All of their savory meat choice taste almost exactly the same; orange chicken, jalapeno chicken, black pepper chicken etc. Here's a few more brief description of some popular choice: FRIED RICE : Question is, why is the rice so dry, hard and crispy? It's flavorless too. CHOWMEIN : The noodle taste like spaghetti noodles. PURPLE STEAM BUN : Great bread but the filling taste like clorine water from an adventure park. PIZZA : Taste like a generic Chuckee Cheese pizza. FOOD QUALITY : It's sad how majority of the dishes are over cooked, hard, and dry. SERVICE: Great customer service. We visited King Buffet today after spending the day exploring Sequoia National Park. It was close to our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. Honestly, many buffets feel pretty similar, but this one really won us over. First of all -- the price! It was only $20 per person, and that already included unlimited drinks -- which was a big plus because my boys love to drink a lot during meals. The food selection was huge and constantly refilled. I was especially impressed by the baked mussels in a spicy sauce -- a little jalapeño, some red pepper, perfectly seasoned -- they were so delicious I had two full plates! I also loved the donuts. They reminded me of home -- just simple dough fried in oil with sugar. They tasted exactly like the donuts we have back in small cafés in Russia. It was such a cozy, nostalgic moment. The french fries were amazing -- crispy, well-seasoned, and honestly tasted like the rustic-style potatoes we used to bake at home. The boys really enjoyed the fried rice with vegetables, the crispy chicken wings (they were hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked with no weird aftertaste), the french fries, the shrimp in the buffet line, and of course, the desserts. The place was pretty busy, but they seated us quickly because they have plenty of tables and even a banquet hall open. The staff worked fast -- they cleared dirty plates right away, were very attentive, and the atmosphere overall was warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to try the ice cream, but they do have it -- soft serve in cones. I always ask myself after visiting a new place: Would I come back? In this case -- absolutely yes! To say the least, phenomenal, I'm not sure if it was the fact that I indulged on cannabis before entering, or what, but I could not stop eating. The food was delicious. I want to tell you what I got, but honestly It was a bit of everything. From sushi to bbq chicken, from rice to salmon, although I will mention ONE negative thing in this review. I am pretty picky when it comes to buffets so I was kind of surprised that this place had such a bad rating. It's a buffet so I don't know why people are expecting high quality food. You get what you pay for. For a buffet it isn't bad. The food tastes decent, the quality is decent, and the prices are decent. The sushi selection could be better but again, it's a buffet and food prices are expensive right now so I get why they can't use high quality ingredients in all you can eat sushi. The one thing that I don't really like is it's usually very busy. I went on a Sunday and there was a line to get in. 15-20 minutes later I was excited to finally pay and be inside only to find there was another line to get a plate and food. Don't go on the weekend, it is crazy busy. Overall I would recommend this buffet. It's the closest one to me now that the only buffet in Tulare closed down. The people who work in the King Buffet are very nice and attentive to people. They always check if the people are good and it's always relaxing. In other words, they have good service. Furthermore, the flavors of the food are very warm and tasty, and if you're a person who likes white fish (I recommend it a lot) but also if you want to try new things, there are different types of food. This experience occurred over a year ago, but my family and I could have had a better time at this restaurant. While it did somewhat provide fresh food you can choose from, I had a bad feeling before entering the restaurant and eating my plate. While I went for the safe option with cold pizza and French fries, my dad was daring and wanted to try their seafood options. When we finished our meals, we left, and he started to feel ill for the rest of the time we were in Visalia. That night, my dad was going through bad food poisoning from the seafood, even though I warned him about being more careful. At the end of the day, when we go to a new seafood restaurant that looks a little sketchy, I always remind him about the King Buffet incident to make him think twice. read more

The staff worked diligently to check everyone in, clean tables and seat people and also to refill the empty trays of food on the buffet. That's where the good things end. They were understaffed. The variety of food was heavily skewed toward the Asian variety. No Mexican, no Italian and only a little of American comfort food. The food was low quality and not tasty. If I'm hungry for faster Asian food I would much rather go to Panda Express where the food is fresher, tastier and not likely to be picked over by school kids with unwashed hands. Will never go back. I went in today with my family and the cashier Diana was very polite and welcoming. I was sitting in the booth by the entrance waiting for my family to arrive, and i was listening to her interaction with other customers. I've been here a couple times and other times she's picking up plates. She's really friendly and walks around asking if we need anything or if everything is okay. Can't believe I haven't left a review for King Buffet being as I've been coming here for years. I've got to say there a lot of things I've notice since my first visit. The quality seems to fluctuate over longer periods of time. When I first ate here, I was not a fan... the food seemed like the food had been sitting there for a long period of time without being switched, there weren't many customers, and the service was meh. Then these past two years the clientele grew tremendously to the point where we were waiting in line behind large groups to be seated, there were more employees, the food was constantly getting replenished (fresh), and there was an abundance of options apart from the usual. Even the ice cream started tasting better (unfortunately, this didn't last long). Over this time prices also began to increase. Fast forward to these past two weeks I visited. I started to see that the number of clients have started to decrease, the food is sitting there longer, the number of options have started to decrease and service is again subpar. Apart from the lack of consistency I have a lot of positive comments such as the flavor are better than those that you find at your typical Chinese buffet. Prices aren't too bad and what I like the most is that there isn't a big difference between what is being served for lunch or dinner but you get charged less for lunch. Just ate there for my sister in laws birthday and there was a cockroach on my grandmother in law's plate. Still alive and moving, and had come from the jello that was fresh out of the kitchen! The manager justified the bug on the plate by the fact that it was still alive. My mother in law didn't even get a full refund for the 10 people she paid for. The bathroom also reeks of mildew.
