Let's start with the Sliced Beef. It is a little difficult to explain Sichuan Peppercorns if you have never had them. Probably one of the most accurate descriptions I have heard to date is that it is akin to 'addictive battery acid'. This is a food you experience! The flavors play in your mouth like a symphony while the peppercorns deliver depth and surprise like symbols crashing together at that exact right moment! And the peppercorns aren't overdone, they give just enough to excite your palate and make you want more. In stark contrast the Vegetable Delight is well seasoned al dente vegetables that just taste like home. This is not a boring standard mix either! We have King Oyster Mushroom, Broccoli, Bell Peppers, Wood Ear Mushrooms (a.k.a. Black Fungus) and my personal favorite: Lotus Roots. This is a light, bright well executed dish that is very soft on the palate after all the excitement of the sichuan peppercorns. The third dish I had today is the Pea Sprouts in garlic sauce.
