First and LAST time at this place. I'm only giving it one star because there was no wait time and I was assisted right away. However, that probably should've been the first indication for me to turn around and get back into my car. Note to self: If the place isn't busy, there's probable a good reason why! I specifically asked for an ombré dip and I was shown to the station where I would receive service. AFTER the nail tech cleaned my nails, I was told that he does not know how to do ombré dip and that none of the other techs knew how to do it either. Nonetheless, I SETTLED for something else. I have been going to this salon for years... I moved out of state and returned this weekend for a wedding. When I walked in I immediately noticed how run down and dirty this place had gotten :(. As I came in the door no one said anything to me... no acknowledgement. I stood there for about 1 min before I said a loud and cheery "hello?". One of of the ladies finally looked up and said " what you want to do?" Blunt and curt. I explained I wanted a gel pedicure and ombré nails. The owner came from the back and said " we don't do ombré" she didn't offer another alternative. Just stated this and walked away. The shop looked run down and crusty, the seats were torn, there was dirt and crust on in the floor panels and tiles...and the vibe was terrible. Dear King's Bay Nails, Yay! I am a first-time fan. Wanting to try something/where new, and having you so close to my house, I decided it was time to break free from my routine and check out a new nail place. I am definitely glad I did, as now I have options. You are a much smaller, and quainter, nail salon that my regular spot, and actually found that to be a positive. My regular salon can feel like a nail painting factory at times, as there are SO many pedi chairs and nail tables. Here, you have just a few of each. So already, it felt more personable. Additionally, I liked the style in which the whole procedure was handled. From the moment I walked in, I was first asked to sit down to have my manicure. This was a nice change, and by the time my nails were done, I was ready to sit and relax in the pedi chair. The lady that did my nails was older, soft spoken, and very sweet. She did a great job with my hands and feet, and took her time to do it right. Even when there were a couple people in your waiting area, she never rushed me or the process. First of all, they do do nails well but that's only half of the experience in my eyes. Getting a mani/pedi for me is a treat and supposed to be a relaxing experience but it was anything but relaxing. The lady who did my pedi was shouting and talking very loudly to other ladies across the room. I couldn't concentrate on the book I was reading. I was turned over to another lady for my shellac mani and she was watching a DVD on a portable player while occasionally glancing at my nails during her work. I felt completely ignored. I even tried to start a conversation after I saw a picture of her sons. No dice. Same shouting thing during the pedi too. They are not there to completely lavish over you and massage you and all those extras. They do your nails, they do it quick, and they do it well. i normally do my nails up by doral but unfortunately had to cancel my apt i had Saturday due to a birthday party i thought was alot later but happen to be in the morning so the following day i was looking for a place that was open Sunday as i was in desperate need of a mani/pedi. I cam across king bay on yelp and decided to give it a try although there werent too many reviews and the pictures of nails seemed to almost all be the same hand with acrylics. I was so impressed and surprised how not only quick they were but good. Considering my boyfriend and i were walk-ins, we had to wait maybe about 5-10 minutes only and they attended us both at the same time. My only complaint was i feel he didnt really remove my cuticles all that well, but i still love the way my nails came out. I was scared to do gel just in case i didnt like how they came out so i decided to go with just a regular mani/pedi which was only $30 which is decent priced and normal but what i loved even more is that they did not charge me to take off my previous gel color, which more nail salons do if you are not getting gel done again. I really wanted to love this place. My mother in law had been going to this salon for over 10 years before she moved to another city. The place is a dust blanket. There is dust literally everywhere. The technician's station was also covered in dust and clippings. Absolutely disgusting. I did my gel manicure and it was whatever. We got to the pedicure and 1/4 of the way through I asked him to stop and just paint my nails. I had told him that my nail felt ingrown and he started using the WRONG tool. I told him to please use the smaller tool and he brushed off my request, causing my toe to bleed on the side. He tells me "no pedicure? I'm almost half way done," and I tell him "no you're not, you're not even 1/4 of the way through," as there was no scrubbing, no clipping, no massaging. I also noticed that one of the other techs seemed to be packing a nasty cold - coughing, sneezing, sniffling, watery-eyed. I understand if someone needs the money they may feel compelled to go to work under those conditions, but it shouldn't be at other people's expense by getting them sick as well! The pedicure tubs looked less than immaculate. They also don't have a "quiet voice or minimum cellphone use" policy like other nail salons do, so I was stuck listening to some lady arrange her entire move by phone. I was greeted by a teenage boy who clearly didn't what to be there. I've been going to this salon for over 6 years and love it there. The staff is amazing! It's very family oriented and not like the snooty salons that don't want kids or want everyone to shhhhh. They are clean and their work is on point always. I've gotten gel manicures, regular manicures, acrylics and pedicures and have zero complaints and I'm there every month! They are super friendly and treat you like family. I think most of the negative reviews are a bit much and exaggerated. Dirty? Never! Does it get loud in there sometimes? Sure! It's a busy salon! I started coming here about 5 years ago because the other location I was going to was unprofessional and the manicurist were always in a hurry. Kings Bay Nails is family owned clean facility. They accept walk-in appointment which seems to be the way to go. Unfortunately there is no loyalty for customers with appointment. If I make an appointment and it's on a busy holiday I seem to wait for over 1 hour. Sometimes you make an appointment and they forget to write it down. They will accept walk-ins and continue with their service even though you have an appointment. It is not the fault of the manicurist but the wife and husband that run the business. Totally unprofessional! I will be looking for another location but it saddens me because I love my manicuris kindly known as "Chino". Chino is a kind man who takes his time with your manicure/pedicure. If he ever leaves that location I will follow. read more

Usually Eric does my nails and he's great but today he was busy and I got another guy who was extremely rude. That's to bad! I should've waited for Eric because what happened will make me never go there again. Pedicure was rushed and he seemed impatient. When it was time for my nails, I needed a refill and had a broken nail. The guy started doing the refill WITHOUT fixing the broken nail. When I reminded him and told him I needed an actual nail (not just the refill) he THREW MY HANDS and stopped what he was doing and WALKED AWAY! The teenager who was in front came to see what was going on and after talking to him and me explaining what happened, she told me to go back to wait in front and to wait for another lady. Not only was the other guy rude, but everyone was shouting and talking to each other in their language. I was so upset I wanted to leave! When the other lady got there (supposedly the manager) I explained what happened as she started doing my nails and her response? "Everyone has different personalities. Next time make an appointment with Eric". Wow. Not even an apology. So much for customer service! Clearly nobody cares about their employees attitudes and customer service there is selective. This place has the worst customer service! When I arrived to my appointment they had cancelled me randomly and had to go with some one else and they did an ok job. No apologies-nothing! Not worth the effort, plenty of other places to go! This is An update: the people there are VERY RUDE! They speak ALL THE TIME in their language and I had a translation app and apparently they speak bad about the customers right in front of them! If you insist on going there, turn on a translation app which will listen to the conversation and translate...you have to put it on the Vietnamese language. I wish I could give 0 stars. I sent my wife here based on Yelp reviews. First off we aren't picky and we aren't highly critical people. In other words we are normally easy to please. However they did a HORRIBLE job. The pedicure - involved washing the feet and clipping nails - basically 5 - 10 minutes. No cuticle work. She tried to kill time by massaging legs and talking to coworkers by yelling across the room. The nails were a disaster, he cut them crooked, didn't remove nail polish from underneath the nail, he cut the sides, she requested square cut and he cut oval instead. She actually just grabbed the nail file and fixed most of what was messed up herself. At the end she had to pay for this and they had the audacity to request a tip. If there was an option for less than 1 star, that would be highly more accurate. I have been visiting this nail salon for around a year. I recently went in for a regular easter design manicure ($25 for regular paint with two designs- ridiculously overpriced and they do not post signs saying this beforehand so that was a nice little surprise in itself since I get amazing designs done in HOMESTEAD at CYNICAL NAILS for $10!!!I kicked myself in the butt for not booking my appt. there this time and trusting these people again) anyways...I left the salon feeling uneasy because it was not drying well. I dried it more before driving and during. I arrived at my destination to see that my nails were all cracked (the designs done on top were clearly not drying and coming off) and obviously ruined, leaving me no choice but to stop somewhere to buy acetone and cotton swabs because I had to go to work. I call and explain what happened and was promised a fix later that evening with gel polish so we would not have the same issue. I feel a little more at ease after. I go later that evening and come to find out now they want me to pay EXTRA because they misunderstood when I requested ONE color gel nail polish WITHOUT any designs this time (same amount I paid earlier $25 for gel manicure to ensure my nails do not crack again). Once a loyal customer, but very disappointed after this. I was not trying to be bitchy. I was nice about it and even called ahead. Clearly it was not my fault their regular polish did not adhere correctly, but what can you do? (other than YELP!- ;-) C'est la vie! Oh, and it's always so polite to argue in front of your customer in another language. Good job ladies! And the award for best customer service goes to.... clearly not you!! Go ahead and give them a try but I will tell you this, keep driving further SOUTH and you will encounter CYNICAL NAILS. I live in Phoenix and wanted to get a simple manicure and pedicure while on vacation. I did a search on Google maps and found this nail salon which showed nearly 5 stars for reviews. I would give it a 2 for service and cleanliness. My nail tech hurried through both services and did a half-ass massage on each hand/arm during my manicure that lasted about 30 seconds each if that. My nails did look nice when she was done. My pedicure massage was also extremely short. The nail station and pedicure tub weren't the cleanest looking. I was on vacation in Miami and sooo scared to get my nails done. I usually end up at a horrible salon that's not clean because it looks nice from the outside or got good reviews only to find out that all the insturments are dirty, and have dead skin hanging off of them and nail shavings already on the files.... YUCK! (At least thats how it is here in California, very hard to find a good, clean salon). I was actually so scared that I meticulously went through the reviews for the Miami nail salons and called to make sure I could get clean instruments. I was very pleased with the manicurist's response on the phone to my rather insulting question if they would make sure all of the instruments were clean for me. She said, "Sure, you can have new if you want." That surprised me. I expected to be barked at, but instead she was very happy to oblige. They made an appt for me within the half hour. I was on time and got a rather rude greeting from the grumpy teenage receptionist who looked like she hated her job, but I didn't take it personally. :)) I was kept waiting for maybe 20 minutes as they busily finished with the people already seated. I was told they would have time for me but I wasn't upset to wait a short while for a clean salon, and I did call only 30 minutes prior to coming, so I was actually happy they made me an appt on such short notice. They kept my appt and took me prior to the walk-ins. :D awesome! I believe Helen did my nails. When I sat down, I told her they said that I could have everything clean. She said: "Sure, no problem," and disinfected all the files with alcohol in front of me. I believe she removed the ones she had used for the girl ahead of me, got out a different set and then soaked them in something clear, I think alcohol, and then sprayed them with alcohol. She took the nail clippers out of the autoclave, oven thing and I got a different nail file. She did not disinfect the table or wash her hands. I know its not operating room cleanliness, but it was definitley the best and cleanest experience I've ever had at a salon and I felt comfortable that the level of cleanliness would ensure I didn't come home with an infection, or warts or fungus. S:o She was sooo great at her job! What a perfectionist! A girl after my own heart. I asked for nail art on my ring fingers, a big flower. She redid the flower on my left hand like five times because she didn't like how it turned out. I was actually okay with it the first time, but I really appreciated that she wanted to do the best job possible and didn't rush, even though it wasn't a slow day at the salon. A++++. I have been going to Kings Bay Nails for years now. I also go to several others in the area due to "timing", but Kings Bay Nails is my favorite. They are good for several reasons, they do a top quality job, regardless of what your having done. I've been to other nail salons that rush to get to the next customer, and within days the nails chip, polishing is coming off, and sometimes the nail. Not this place - and that is what I love about it; Quality - fair pricing - and fast service but not leaving anything out. I do recommend you call and make an appointment ahead of time. I've been to so many nail salons that are overpriced and do a decent job. I will travel to Kings Bay from Coconut Grove for not only the fair price but the service. My nails always look phenomenal, clean, and groomed. You walk in and it feels like family because it is. It's really that simple. Getting a good manicure and pedicure shouldn't be a challenge. They aren't rushing to move to the next chair, they do what they need to to give you the best end result.
