I am a banh mi lover no exaggeration. In the landscape of competitive banh mi. This place decides to stand out not with flavor, but the eating experience and minor tweaks. For starter and I personally think this is genius. The construction goes as follows Bread, Meat, Pate, Mayo , pork floss, Green onion, Veggies, and Red sliced chillis. Arguable the best part of this sandwich is the pate and mayo. So instead of spreading it on the bread where the flavor is absorbed by the bread, they put it in the middle where you can really taste those flavors. In addition adding pork sung and green adds more dept of flavor. One caveat is that the parking is horrendous, very competitive, and it is in the heart of Little Saigon. read more

King Banh Mi definitely surprised us!! We tried their special banh mi and they were SO generous with the pâté - every bite was rich, flavorful, and packed with filling. The bread was toasted fresh so it stayed crispy on the outside while still soft inside~ The crispy pork banh mi was my favorite with the perfect crunch, while the ribeye steak banh mi was super savory and satisfying. Really nice staff! Even though it was a quick interaction I felt very welcomed! The space itself is quite large, however there are only about 4 tables so there is not much space to sit if you wanted to eat there. Love that they offer a buy 2 get 1 and that you can mix and match for this deal. With the promo the sandwiches are worth it but at their full price of $9 that is a bit steep compared to other shops. I ordered a crispy pork and a grilled pork. Both sandwiches were extremely light of vegetables which is something I really look forward to, additionally there were no pickled veg which is a flavor you come to expect with a banh mi. The crispy pork was my preferred between the 2, it had a generous amount of meat and a nice crisp although some of the skin was burnt- there was something missing, perhaps it was the pickled veg that it needed to make it a perfect sandwich. The grilled pork was just okay, also a decent amount of mean but there quite a bit of fat in the cuts which was off putting, I don't think I would get that one again. Banh mi was delicious! My son(super picky dude) loved the heo quay(roasted pork) banh mi. The dac biet(cold cut) is also good. The meat/bread ratio is great. Ordering was easy and straightforward. I ordered the Bánh Mì Heo Quay and the bánh mì đặc biệt, and they gave me an extra bánh mì đặc biệt as part of a promotion. The bánh mì tasted good overall, but at $9 each, I feel the price is a bit high if it's not part of a buy two get one deal. I also bought a box of bao buns with salted egg yolk. Service took a little while, but they make the sandwich fresh and toast the bread as on the spot. The result, however, are some pretty good sandwiches. Perhaps what makes this spot stand out from the rest are the veggies they offer with their sandwiches. The veggies are all placed on the side given the sandwiches are toasted to order. The ribeye sandwich came with more western style veggies including tomato, lettuce, green onuons and cilantro. The other sandwiches hand your classic banh mi veggies, but also had dill, and Vietnamese rau ram that you can add if you'd like. I was excited to try this place because not only is banh mi one of my favorites, but I heard promising things about this place as well. We had called ahead because we heard that on Fridays from 8am-1pm that they have a buy 1 sandwich, get 1 free deal. The person on the phone confirmed that it was applicable for all sandwiches. However, when we arrived we were told that it was only for the beef sandwich. The guy taking our order wasn't nice when we brought it up because he simply said that no one here would tell us that. That should probably have been our indication to leave. The banh mi bread was good, but that was the only thing that was good. I found the beef to be really dry and overcooked. The pork sandwich was also way too sweet and oily. We specifically asked for the sandwiches to not have any chilli spice, but they put them in all the sandwiches. We asked specifically because we had a family member who couldn't eat it, but we had to pick them out of the sandwiches. The pickled vegetables were okay as it was too sweet and they give so little. The next day, the cilantro and greens were so wilted so they don't last the next day. There's so many good banh mi places in the area that are much cheaper, so recommend going elsewhere instead. read more

When on a regular day, Monday at 8:10am and there was a short line but a lot of folks are waiting for their orders. The cashier is doesn't seem happy to be here an it reflected on his service. No smile, no greeting just looking at you, waiting do you to tell him what you want. Ordered and waited for my food was #107 and they are on #102, someone did have a big order with 2 big boxes of sandwiches. She was asking the cashier for help to bring to her car and he just coldly responded that there is none, even though there are 4-5 people behind the counter. The guy infront of me helped instead and no gratitude to him from the cashier at all. Also a grandpa asked him to cut the sandwich in 1/2 so him and his grandkid (with him) to enjoy it but he just stared at him, no response and looked the other direction - the grandpa ended up got help with smile from the lady behind the counter. As for the quality, the bread looks good but tasted like old bread. The filling is great with veggies on the side. For $9 with that service, I think I will go elsewhere from now on. Don't get me wrong, the other staffs, the females, who are doing the breads & filling the juices & others front store are nice with smile and acknowledge nods. Stopped by on Friday 4/17 since I heard they have BOGO Free on Fridays, but, unfortunately, that deal has ended. They only have the B2G1 Free deal for everyday. So, I got the Roast Pork (Heo Quay), Grilled Pork (Thit Nuong), and House Special (Dac Biet) to try. Total is $18 plus tax. I'm quite impressed with the soft-and-fluffy inside and crispy outside bread and all 3 meat filling choices. The roast pork has just the right ratio of meat, fat, and crispy skin, and most importantly very good flavor and quality. Grilled pork comes with slightly sweet pickled morning glory stems (rau muong) which lends a unique taste. House Special reminds me a lot of the flavors from Huynh Hoa sandwiches in Saigon. This may become one of my favorite sandwich shop from now on. The only reason they didn't earn a 5-star rating from me is because the young lady cashier has a very unfriendly attitude. No greetings, no smile, no warm welcome. She acts like customers are there to annoy her. I sure hope management pays attention and train their employees, especially the cashiers who directly interact with customers to be positive and welcoming in order to have repeat business in the highly competitive Banh Mi business in Little Saigon. Another thing that I could not understand is why in such a large store (2-unit wide) in prime Little Saigon real estate area, there is only 1 or 2 tables and some short benches in this store.
