Drive it in, they unplug the dash cam. Tune it, now has a rod knock tow it home! Why if you weren't doing anything wrong did you unplug the dash cam? And plugged it back in after? Oh yeah we have been driving it with no issues for 400 miles on a BRAND NEW genuine surbaru short block. This is not a highly modified fa20! It had all these same aftermarket parts on the car with the old tune in it for 60k miles. We freshen up the engine, rebuild the head that had bad valve seals. ALL OEM gaskets and parts. I would give this place 0 stars. ABSOLUTELY JOKE. Brought them my car to do a simple tune after I rebuilt my motor and did a full break in perio, etc. THEY BLEW IT UP, they put a knock in it. Their story changed 3x in 3 hours and can not give me a reason as to why they blew it up. The guy working the counter was an even bigger joke kept saying "I DONT KNOW" when asked several times how they blew up a perfectly running car, that was driven 4 weeks before brought to their facility with not a single issue. Absolutely joke of a company. Seems like they didn't do any pre tune testing they pride themselves on doing, seems like they did not tune my car properly what so ever. Only thing I can think of is PURE INEXPERIENCE and you put my car on a dyno cold just went for it and it went boom. STILL NOT OKAY. They refuse to make it right. And still charged me full price FOR NOTHING. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!! Not to mention I came to them for the first time 2 1/2 years ago they tried to screw me over for being a female. My car is entirely stock (these guys definitely specialize in modded cars), but I always bring it here anyway. They are the best of the best- extremely good at what they do, fast, friendly (last time I was there they even bought me an Italian sub to eat while I waited because it took longer than they thought it would), and they always make sure they get it right. These guys are amazing. I went there today to get the window of my Honda Civic fixed. (it wasn't going back up.) I had a quote from another mechanic for $650 for fixing it. He told me that the entire window motor needed to be changed. So I took the car to Kinetic Motor Works for another quote. They worked on it for half an hour and told me that they got the window to work for now but if I want, they can change the regulator (and not the entire motor) for $120 for the parts and $100 for labor. I ended up paying $49 for the diagnosis and getting the window to work (because I'm not keeping the car for much longer!). All in all, they were very friendly & honest and explained everything so well. I recommend them! read more

Brought my Focus ST in for a downpipe install, they said the price would be 150 and even after me supplying all new Ford hardware the price all of a sudden jumped to over 200 but it is what it is but the first time I gave the car a good amount of throttle there was a horrible rattling noise and lone behold the v band clamp wasn't even tightened all the way, guess that's what you get when a bunch of buddies try to play mechanic read more

I brought my car to kinetic for a motor build and bolt ons last year around April 2019. I spent 16k after it was all done. When they gave me the car back you would expect a shop that's held at such a high standard would look over the car before giving it back to the customer...think again. Turbo blanket wasn't tied back on, missing bolts, radiator leak, dust cover to the air filter was just sitting in the splash guard, hid wiring harness was resting on the radiator, bypass valve hose has a kink in it from not being trimmed, they cut the bracket to my intake instead of trimming the turbo inlet hose and my car came back with 3 nice scratches on it. About 2,500 miles later the throw out bearing starts squeaking, I bring it to another shop and he informs me that the air oil separator is leaking oil the external wastegate is rubbing into my power steering lines and confirms it's the throw out bearing. Now at 13,000 miles the head gasket is leaking oil the clutch is smoked. I've had the car since 2014 brand new and they have ruined the car for me. Ended up getting a new one. They contacted me via Facebook saying "they stand behind their work and are willing to take a look at it" I said the car has been looked at and "we know what needs to be done". They have now blocked me and I can't comment on any of their posts or message them. If you like bad quality work and terrible service go for it. Just because they do a "great" job at oils changes and brake jobs doesn't mean they're a "great" shop. Joe and Kyle are terrible owners. I'm not the only one this has happened to And others have had it a lot worse. read more

Mike and the crew have done all my maintenance and upgrades over the last 8 months and the car performs 100x better than it did when I bought it. If you are a tuner and want your vehicle tuned right this is the place to go. My boyfriend brought his '06 WRX to Kinetic Motorworks to have his blown turbo replaced. While his car was there from November 9th, he did not get it back until Christmas eve. They gave him an estimate (which was ridiculous) which he paid IN FULL, UP FRONT. They replaced the blown turbo, valve cover gaskets, dyno tuned it, and a put in an upgraded down pipe, like stated before, was PAID IN FULL. Once the car was finished and picked up, he was receiving calls and emails about an outstanding balance he had to pay. After discovering the boost gage was tampered with and not hooked back up correctly, the turbo was incorrectly installed and leaking oil, the 02 sensor was taped back together with electrical tape and failing throwing a check engine light at all times. The customer service was awkward and unorganized, our calls were not returned, and when asked, weren't even heard of. I myself went to pick up the car on multiple occasions (before bringing it back with more problems) to find that the balance (that was already paid) kept changing from highs to lows to NOTHING. None of the employees were eye to eye on what was going on with the car. The one thing I can give them is that they were very helpful in getting the warrantee company to come through with a replacement turbo. Other than that, I would not recommend taking your car to this "Subaru Specialist" as they clearly do not know how to deal with Subarus as much as they claim. read more
