Nonetheless, the reason I save Ace coupons and drive around the corner instead of to a big box store, is on account of them catering to my response time issues. It's also why I can specifically shop here after work. Simply put, when I walk into this Ace and need something hardware specific (often put together for me) they get me done quickly!' She refused to take no for an answer and wouldn't take money for it either as it had already been purchased. Not always willing to shop here due to pricing, but sometimes you need to go someplace local (within 10 minutes) for a tool to finish a job and your willing to pay the couple of extra bucks for convenience. Crazy helpful. Maybe too helpful...like they were trying to hide something. I feel this place is actually an alien mother ship that they have disguised as a helpful hardware place. Either that or they actually care about what you are working on. I went to pick up supplies for my home made Barbie dream house.....err...uhm.. I mean my fantasy football trophy. Yeah, that's it, fantasy football that's a thing right? And they allover me the second I walked through the door. Like a vicious assistance tiger waiting to pounce on a gazelle (that would be me in this analogy) and give great advice and directions. The store isn't that big, why do I need directions? Unless you are hiding your spaceship. *ahem ahem* But nonetheless my "fantasy football trophy" turned out awesome thanks in part to the teak railing suggestion I received. LOVE LOVE LOVE that they have just about any off-the-wall, hard-to-find bit or piece I've ever needed to fix anything house! Every employee I've ever encountered has been friendly and VERY helpful. They could maybe lower some of their prices (like on Light Bulbs for starters! UGH! $20. for a pkg of TWO daylight CFL's....Do the light bulbs from your store specifically give off more light or something??) Other than that, it's all good! read more

Once again, tried to spend some money locally and this store just made me remember why I haven't been in there for so long. Just minutes from the house so we try to support our local businesses....ALWAYS. However I went in there today for a bag of rock salt for the snow and ice. A 40 lb. bag is almost $17.00..yes...for a bag of rock salt. I went another 4 miles to the closest Home Depot. Got a 50 lb. bag for about $8.50...literally half the price and for 10 lbs. more. I don't mind the local guys charging a little more for the convenience of location, but when they more then double the price because of it they can keep their products and I'll make the drive. The poor checkout girl at the Ace actually apologized to me and made a comment that she knows because others have walked out recently too. When it's bad enough that your own employees recognize how badly you are treating people that are trying to be your customers, you know it has gotten out of control. I had the same issue a few months back with some small light bulbs I was trying to purchase. NEVER AGAIN. This store really should be ashamed of themselves and their business practices. read more
