Service is always absolutely terrible. Every single time. If there were anywhere else in Morganton to get sushi and hibachi we wouldn't keep coming back. We waited thirty minutes before soup was brought out, was supposed to have two, she brought one. Last time we were here they missed our order all together and we waited an hour and a half for our food as we watched the entire restaurant turn over every single table around us. Management really needs to figure out something to make their service better. Needs serious help. Like I said if there were better options in Morganton we wouldn't come, it's surprising they've made it this long in business. read more

So the first worry is the fact that the majority of their plates offer imitation crab meat. That's really odd considering they have a roll with fresh soft shelled crabmeat. Downtown with limited parking. The place could use some renovations. It's not a typical Japanese place nor is it a fast food hibachi joint. Place a to go order and it was very fast. The ginger dressing is very very thick and not at all well puréed. Didn't care for the dressing. The sushi saved the day however, as it was delicious and well made. I really enjoyed the sexy dragon roll. The negatives- when I arrived there were 2 people outside sitting right beside the entrance panhandling for "kerosene money". No one wants to be questioned going in and out for money. As for the biggest negative, it would be tHat if you don't have cash, they charge you a 3.99% fee on your bill. Not a tip, but a few to use your card. They also apparently charge 18% on parties of 6 or more, which is typical, but that on top of a 3.99% fee isn't kosher. read more

This is a tiny sushi bar in downtown Morganton right by the courthouse. The sushi here at Kin2Kin is way more pricier than other surrounding sushi places but it is by far the best sushi I had around here! My favorite sushi here has to be the Sunset Roll! If you don't like sushi, never had sushi, or want to try sushi definitely go in and order yourself a Sunset roll. You can thank me later!! Because I find myself craving for the Sunset roll often! Some of the cons is the parking but it is downtown so that understandable. Another thing to be aware of is the food does take awhile to come out so if you're in a hurry, call ahead of time! The waitresses are sweet and always make sure your drinks never go empty! They also come back regularly to check if everything okay. We came out tonight for a full three course meal. Appetizer, soup, and entree. We got the edamame and miso soup to start. very disappointed. The edamame was clearly not freash, most likely frozen. The beans inside wear mushy and unflavored. The skin of the outside; which normally stays intact when pulling the beans out of their shell; was falling apart and squishy. Well salted at least but otherwise not unappetizing. The miso soup was very light is coloration and not as salted as a good miso usually is. The nori in the soup consisted of very thin and uniform strips with little to no flavor or texture. The worst part of the soup was it's most familiar ingredient. The tofu. It was small and dry. Chewy in a bad way. Definitely worst tofu and miso I've ever had. It was undoubtedly poured out of a manufactured bag of ingredients. I love miso soup and I was very disappointed with this rendition. For the rest of our meal we ordered a sushi roll and a teriyaki chicken meal. We waited for 30 minutes for out entrees even the the small restaurant was hardly packed. The teriyaki chicken was the star of the meals. Is had a good amount of sauce and flavor. the fried rice had a good flavor and was not dry. The chicken was moist and tender as well. The roll we ordered was the corn roll. It was basically a Cali roll fried inside of a corn dog shell. It was decent but nothing to write home about. One of the best places in Morganton to eat! The half off sushi on Sundays and Mondays from 5:00pm-6:55pm is the best deal you can find. I typically will eat 3-4 rolls and the totals usually end up around $14. (Obviously this is different outside of the sales period.) The Cherry Blossom roll is the BEST thing I have ever eaten before. From the moment you bite in until the moment you swallow, you are taken on a flavor rollercoaster. Highly recommend. Bao is the best server! Went there for first with my sister thought we would try something new WRONG service was horrible they brought my salad no silver ware had to ask waited 5 minutes for that. when they first brought food out wasn't ours we had ordered hibachi chicken rice n carrots, me stake shrimp rice n carrots that took 30 minutes also my spicy yellow tail sushi wasn't what I had expected as sushi 8 pieces both dinners were luke warm the carrots were the only thing hot. they never came back to check on you if you need or food was good. Place wasn't the cleanest most fast foods are cleaner. don't know about were there ratings come from but we won't be going back! we've had better food from take oriental restaurants around. read more

I absolutely love the sushi, the service, and the prices. This is one of the MUST VISIT restaurants in Morganton. I really like sitting at the sushi bar because the guys are always friends and even will let you sample some variety of sushi. They have a half-priced menu on Sundays and Mondays from 5pm-7pm which has a lot of variety. They are just a great friendly and relaxing place. My only issue with them and why I can't give them 5 stars is sometimes when you are sitting at the bar you have to listen to whatever music the cooks are playing and it isn't always my taste of music. But that won't stop me from coming back each week. read more

Horrible service. I could actually feel the animosity coming off of the hostess upon entering the establishment with my husband. Once seated we noticed the soy sauce stained walls and dry skin cell dust on the window sills. Food took an exceptionally long time to get to us, especially since it IS raw fish. We ordered two drinks which were forgotten. When we inquired about the 50% off sushi on Sunday that is advertised, we were met with derisive laughter and our credit card was promptly ripped out of our hands. Fish was fishy, did not seem like fresh fish. I would not recommend this restaurant. You would find better service from a kindergartner at a pancake breakfast at your local fire hall. read more

In my opinion Kin to Kin has the best Sushi in my area. Comparable or better than Wild Wok of Hickory, and at a much lower price. Their menu is very limited if you are not there for sushi, mostly hibachi meals, but those are good every time I go as well. The atmosphere is always nice and calm there, and the waitresses are pretty and sweet. If you sit at the sushi bar the cooks are nice and will usually give you a little extra bit of food. They have a Nintendo Wii in the restaurant which is usually playing kids movies, but in one experience quite some time ago a friend and I grabbed the remote and switched to some anime. No one at the restaurant seemed to mind. Overall I have not had a bad experience at this place. read more

Tried this place for the second time. Terrible sushi in my opinion, and I adore sushi.I ordered a Yellowtail roll (not spicy) and added smelt eggs. They charged $2.00 for the smelt eggs and I barely got any (they put them on the inside too, who does this??). The rice was warm, which caused the fish to warm! Yuck!! Please, learn to make sushi rice. Should be cooled, soft and tender, not hard, like it was minute rice or something. Also ordered a Rainbow roll. Looked nice but the fish was flavorless and tasted of being frozen, then thawed. They added a bizarre ingredient to both rolls - MAYO! OMG! NOOOOOOO! That just made me want to send the whole order back. I don't care if I am in Burke County, NO ONE SHOULD PUT PLAIN MAYO on sushi. I won't be back. Ever. Sorry. I've tried Kobe sushi, it was decent. We love the sushi at Kin 2 Kin! DH and I have been eating sushi here every week for the past few months. The wait staff and sushi chefs are always friendly and efficient. We like to sit at the sushi bar and chat with the sushi chefs as they prepare our meal. The spring roll and albacore roll (not on the menu) are our favorites. We also love the spicy tuna roll, philly roll, scallop roll, and avocado maki roll. They have many rolls for 1/2 price on Sunday and Monday nights - an amazing bargain. read more
