I'm pretty sure their custard is churned by actual angels who sprinkle it with the pulverized dreams of happy children. And then there's the Dole Whip. Oh, the Dole Whip. It's like a fruity vacation for your tastebuds, that doesn't require questionable airport security lines. I'm convinced they have a direct line to the Dole Whip gods at Hoffman's. It is a creamy pineapple hug that whispers sweet nothings about sunshine and tiny umbrellas. After one bite, I briefly considered selling all my possessions and moving to a pineapple plantation. It's not just a dessert; it's a lifestyle choice. The atmosphere is pure, unadulterated hometown charm. There are tables to sit and relax while the sugar coma takes over. The employees are all so nice and helpful. We have never come here when there was not a line to order (whether it be 2 or 200 degrees outside), but the wait is never long. 11/10 recommend.

So, the wife, the dog, and myself all went to check it out. As we walked in, we saw candy, flavored peanut butters, chocolates, popcorn, fudge, and... ICE CREAM. This is way more than an ice cream store. It is also connected to a sandwich shop. She ordered a brookie, i had a regular key lime & lemon cheesecake, and of course we had a pup cup that had a milk bone stuck into it. Her brookie was tasty, she said she wished it had oreo cookies instead of chocolate chip - but she enjoyed it. My lemon/lime concoction was also tasty. I wish there was 200% more lime & 200% more lemon flavor, because i am a fiend for citrus. But it was still good. Lastly, the pup cup, she didnt say much... but she licked it across the floor - so im assuming she loved it. We will be back for sure to try some other snacks!

I decided to venture away from my usual turtle and try something different this time. I ordered a Jackhammer, which is kind of like a Blizzard or concrete. I went with the Rico Suave, which is vanilla frozen custard with Oreos and toasted pecans, with hot fudge in the center. It was good, but honestly, I think I should have stuck with my usual order! My biggest issue was that the hot fudge in the center wasn't really mixed throughout, so I didn't feel like I was getting as much of it as I would have liked. I also felt like there weren't quite as many toppings as I usually get with a sundae. One bonus was that I got a reusable plastic cup, which I thought was a fun little perk. The staff was super friendly, as always, and the line moved incredibly fast. Even though this particular treat didn't become my new favorite, I'll definitely be back. Next time, though, I'm probably going straight back to my trusty turtle!

I could hear the 4 young women inside having fun, which is fine, but it took FOREVER for them to make it and I was the only one there. When I finally got it, I could tell there was very little syrup because it was very lightly colored. It tasted like straight ice, so I knocked off the top and dug down to the bottom to try to find flavor. It didn't get brighter where syrup normally settles, so still not much flavor & mostly tasted like plain ice. I threw it in the trash. Their website states drive-thru and walk-up. It's only walk-up. The shack is very run down looking with peeling paint and moldy, black stained awning. One picnic table. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the girl that waited on me was polite and nice.

Sometimes the cup is part of the experience! My daughter ordered the James Brownie, and she absolutely loved it. It was definitely very peanut buttery when I took a bite, but that's exactly what she wanted, so she was one happy girl! She even saved half in the fridge for tomorrow, which tells you how generous the serving size was. I went with one of my favorites: the Jackhammer with roasted pecans and Oreos. The combination of the crunchy pecans and Oreos was delicious, and there was a big ribbon of fudge running right through the middle. That fudge center really makes it! Overall, Andy's continues to deliver. The service is fast, the portions are generous, and the frozen custard always hits the spot. We've had good experiences at the Andy's locations we've visited, and this was another one to add to the list. Great custard, fun souvenir cups, and enough left over to enjoy tomorrow. We were not disappointed! We have tried nitro ice cream a few times in STL, but at a much higher price than here. For $3.50 you can get a regular sized ice cream (with 1 mix-in) and for $4.50 you can get a large. The premium flavors have a slight upcharge, but it's still very reasonable compared to what you'll pay at Ices Plain & Fancy or somewhere similar. The two working behind the counter the night we came here were nice and seemed like really hard workers, they might have been the owners. The nitro ice cream does take a while to prepare, but that is the nature of the beast. If you have never tried nitro ice cream, I would highly recommend stopping by here and giving it a try! Amanda
