It is now on my list for the next time I'm in the area again. I purchased a vanilla latte and a breakfast sandwich. I should mention there was loud music playing. Upshot offers both, with a bonus of delicious food. We'd never explored historic Cottleville before, and I immediately appreciated the setting. The surrounding streets and buildings bare a slight resemblance to the charm of Vermont. On a recent nice, near-Spring day, my wife and I knew we had to take advantage of the outdoor seating. Serene with a mild breeze, we would have liked to sit and read for an hour or two, if time allowed. I almost always go for a red eye when I visit a coffee shop for the first time, but there are alot of appealing alternatives; I might have to try Maple Bourbon latte on a future visit. Being a major fan of breakfast food, I had to order the hearty Brake Shop burrito, packed with scrambled eggs, bacon, cripsy tater tots, and pico del gallo. It arrived quickly, hot, and even more filling and flavorful than I expected. Beyond that, Upshot offers an ample menu of other breakfast and lunch options; my wife ordered a Turkey Sando and custom-made iced vanilla latte with oatmilk. We don't get that many beautiful days in the midst of St. Louis winter; I'm glad I could spend one at Upshot's flagship cafe, and excited to see how their other locations compare.

The line was quick, and I was in and out in about five minutes. Now, on weekends, the line can wrap all the way around the little sitting area because they're THAT busy--and rightfully so because these donuts are delicious! If you need three dozen or more, you can call ahead and they'll have your order ready when you walk in. You just have to stop at the counter to pay, which makes picking up a larger order really easy. This location has a special place in my heart because I remember when they opened in Cottleville back in 2012. I actually watched the Coming Soon banner in front of the store when I drove by to work while I was pregnant. When I went on maternity leave, I would take my brand-new baby there, then sit in the car with her and eat my donut and drink my chocolate milk. It was our little outing together. When I returned to work, I would sometimes treat myself to an Old Fashioned donut on Fridays, and sometimes even the flavor of the day. I don't think they do that any more and I really miss the flavor-of-the-day donuts! One of my favorites was the peanut butter flavor. I've watched this location grow over the years and add more drinks and other options, but one thing has never changed: the donuts are still delicious. Some of the staff members have even been here since the beginning, which adds to that feeling of familiarity and belonging whenever I stop in. Friendly staff, delicious donuts, affordable prices, and a little bit of nostalgia make this one of my favorite places to start the day. Whether you're grabbing a quick dozen donut holes or picking up a big order for a group, Old Town Donuts is always worth the stop!

My daughter begs to go to Yogurt World, and honestly, I can't blame her because it is delicious!…read moreUnfortunately, it can get a little pricey since you pay by the ounce, and our absolute favorite topping happens to be the cookie dough--which is probably one of the heaviest things they offer. We only go a few times a year, but every time we do, it's worth it. You start by choosing from a variety of frozen yogurt flavors. You can stick with one flavor or mix a few together. I usually gravitate toward cake batter or cheesecake because you really can't go wrong with either one. Then comes the fun part--the toppings! There are so many choices, from Boba and cookie dough to candy, sprinkles, and all kinds of other goodies. But the best part is definitely the sauce station at the end. You can add chocolate sauce, peanut butter sauce, caramel, marshmallow, and so many other options that you could probably come back every time and create something completely different. I usually go a little lighter on the frozen yogurt because, honestly, I'm there for the toppings and sauces! Give me a little yogurt surrounded by a mountain of cookie dough and toppings, and I'm happy. It's definitely a special treat for us because of the price, but we only go a few times a year, and every visit feels worth it. There's so much variety that you could probably never make the exact same creation twice. Yogurt World is one of those places that my daughter will always ask to visit, and I'm perfectly happy to say yes. It's delicious, customizable, and just plain fun--and it never disappoints!
