When I walked in Kimberley walked me thru the Brazilian blow out process and questioned why I wanted to straightened my curly hair, at that time I thought straight hair was a better look for me, now things have changed. Kimberley has always complements me on my curls and I have now embraced my curls. Kimberley is great at what she does and her and her team are FANTASTIC!!! I had a bloomspot voucher for full highlights, custom cut, and conditioning treatment. The voucher should have stated that only inexperienced stylists would be available. The two stylists there were talking to each other about how they got their licenses in March and June!! (Made me really nervous.) You would think that a salon that uses Bloomspot is trying to increase its customer base, but this is not how to gain customer loyalty. My stylist (Janie, Julie, Jaeleen? She never introduced herself, so I don't know for sure) was sick... so much so that the other workers talked about how she shouldn't even be there. I agree! Nobody wants a sick person working on them. I could tell she was inexperienced because I asked her for advice on what to do with my hair. I always ask. Good stylists always have a few great suggestions, but the one at Kimage just shrugged her shoulders. I finally said I wanted red or burgundy highlights, but she told me they "ran out" of those colors! What kind of salon was this?? She didn't get started on me until after about 30 minutes because she seemed so unsure of herself. I ended up getting partial blonde highlights and a full base of chocolate brown. After getting home, I noticed that the highlights start about an inch from my scalp. I don't think they're supposed to look like that. (?) She took five hours to finish! She kept having to ask the other girl for help. Another thing I noticed that shows either her inexperience or her apathy was when she washed my hair, she never lifted my head to wash, rinse, or condition the back of my head. I would not go back to this salon or recommend it to others. I think if you are a new customer, you should be told that the person working on you doesn't have much experience. It's only fair. And if this person actually DOES have experience, it surely didn't show. :( read more

Worst experience ever. This place deserves 0 stars. Don't be fooled by the deals they have with websites like DealFind.com, Bloomspot.com, LivingSocial.com, etc. Came here with a DealFind.com deal that required me to make an appointment with Nia. I bought TWO vouchers because it sounded like a good deal for the price they were charing for services. When Nia washed my hair, she simply put shampoo and lathered a bit. There was no "washing" of any sort. I could have done a better job. She almost put water in my eye. I knew immediately that she was an amateur. I asked her how long has she been cutting hair, she said she had her license for a few years (I don't believe her) and been doing hair for a few years before getting her license. When I was finally seated, I expressed that I wanted a bangs but not the straight edge kind. I even brought in a few photos for her to reference but she didn't bother looking at them. I've had experience getting bangs and know when a hairstylist is properly sectioning off my hair so the length is consistent. Nia was all over the place & couldn't properly section my hair if her life depended on it. She didn't utilize the different tools she had. The whole time she was cutting my hair, she never had me face the mirror. She spun me around according to her preference of angle and lighting and I was being swiveled in my seat very fast in all directions. Due to this, I was not able to watch her cut my hair. This has NEVER happened to me before. The client should be able to see what the hairstylist is doing to their hair. Super Cuts does a better job! Towards the end, my bangs were the only section of my hair I let her touch because I knew she'd mess up the other sections. I left that place with my bangs UNEVEN! I had to go to my regular hairstylist to fix them, costing me more money! She didn't blow dry my hair with a brush. She just used her hand to wave it around. The "styling" was horrible! She flat ironed my hair, which is ALREADY STRAIGHT, and used some shiny gel and puffed up my hair making it look like a mess. In addition: -- She checked her phone a few times whiling cutting my hair! Who does this?! -- She poked my eye while brushing my hair -- She almost took off my earring with her hands -- She was really rough with me and DID NOT BOTHER to measure if the length of my cut was equal on both sides at the end of the cut How is this deal a $305 value?! This is the most disappointing experience. How does a salon put such an amateur for FIRST CLIENTS when they're partnering up with DealFind, a website who is trying to promote their business? You obviously want FIRST CLIENTS to have a GREAT EXPERIENCE for repeat business. I gave Nia $10 tip for her personality, not skills, which is nonexistent. I ended up contacting DealFind.com to get a refund for the second voucher I purchased. Never again! read more

I've been a regular for two years and I've finally had it. All the stylists here are very fickle. No appointments here are ever solid. I think I've only had one solid appointment throughout these past two years without having them reschedule or change my stylist. Don't even try calling because you'll never get through. The way to do it with them is to directly call your stylist, and even then, she'll return your call a day or two later. I've had four brazilian blowouts with Kimberly and two brazilian blowouts with two other stylists. Kimberly is really intuitive on how hair flows so she did great on my brazilian blowout and cut. I have a lot of thick, frizzy hair and she'll manage to tame it. You would think that since I'm a regular, she wouldn't just brush aside her loyal clients. Guess not! Time and Time again, I book her three months in advance to secure an appointment with her, knowing that she gets booked up fast. But, she'll always call last minute to cancel and i'll have to reschedule. Oh and By the way, she has to increase the price again, because the product cost increased again since the last three months. Happens every time. I'm so disappointed with their customer service. I never complain about her working on other clients while working on mine, double booking, or the drive out from walnut just to keep her as my stylist. With the constant price increase and rescheduling, its not worth the hassle. read more

purchased a Brazilian blow out from Group On on March 17th. I have left three messages on both salon lines and have emailed. I have yet to receive a phone call back. I am an understanding client and realized that when I make a purchase on Group on I may have to wait a while to receive my service due to the increase in business. I used to live in Memphis, so I am very familiar with ghetto, but this place is just beyond the pale. This place would be much better suited to Compton than West LA. The place is delapitated and the exterior painted a non-prince worthy purple. The interior is run down and no one wants to bother sweeping up. Mangey curtains drape the crusty windows. It just feels dirty and you want to take a shower after leaving. As for the hair styling: The horror, the horror. SIX MONTHS after having gone to this place for a Brazilian Blowout I am still dealing with the ramifications of the terrible job they did. Some of the unsavories: 1. They do not use the real Brazilian Blowout. After having purchased a yelp deal here [YELP, PLEASE DON'T DO DEALS WITH YOYOs LIKE THIS AGAIN] for an actual Brazilian Blowout, they informed me that they use the "brazilian blowout" imported directly from Brazil and not the american Brazilian chemicals. Translation: some fake stuff that it is probably illegal to import and not anywhere near the actual Brazilian they advertsised. From day one it never looked smooth and silky like other Brazilians I have had. It made my hair extremely dry and damaged. Don't know what they are using, but "somethin' in the brazilian ain't clean." 2. My hair was cut COMPLETELY crooked. I had to have several inches cut off to get a semblance of proportion back. Mind you, I didn't want a cut. I asked to not have one and she stated that she would just do a slight trim... then she just starts cutting like Edward Scissorhands and I am left with an "avantgarde" cut... ie. a complete disaster. 3. The staff is unprofessional. The girl that did my hair bitched non-stop about other clients and how cheap they were. Who does that? Plus she doesn't take care of her own appearance... then how can the salon owners expect her to take care of yours? 4. Even if you are crazy enough to want to go here, you probably won't be able to bc it is almost impossible to make an appointment. I left four messages and got no response whatsever. Finally got through to someone on the fifth try! This place is just ew and a serious threat to your beloved strands. DO NOT GO here. The only reason that they have such good reviews on here is because the stylists BEG the customers to post positive reviews. FOLLICLES BEWARE. read more

I hate to give a bad review but this is a salon to skip. I had a dealfind voucher for highlights, deep conditioning and cut. The salon itself is not nice, kind of feels like getting your hair cut in someone's garage, which would be no problem if the stylists were awesome. Unfortunately, my stylist was the most untalented one I've ever come across. In the color consultation she pushed for a highlight that was way more dramatic than I wanted and it came out looking like a bad box job. She also foiled my hair like she was racing against a clock and pulled my hair, which was so unnecessary. She hardly cut my hair at all. She trimmed the top layer of my hair and left all of the split ends on the bottom I'd come in to get rid of. There was also no receptionist and my stylist had to stop cutting my hair every 2 minutes to answer the phone. Perfectly nice people but if I'd paid more than $30 for this experience I would have been really upset. read more

But i first got a Brazilian Blowout deal through YELP back in March 2011, but I decided to wait for a few months before scheduling the appointment (thinking that they will be really busy with all the calls). I read the reviews and I was just wondering if I made the right choice or not. But still, I gave it a chance... I called on Thu (7/28) and got an appointment next day (7/29). I made sure I got to Culver City on time, since I've been looking for a hair salon for so long with no success. Upon my arrival, Kim was very friendly and took the time to explain the treatment, asked me questions about my hair and gave me some suggestions. Just on a side note: I'm Puerto Rican with curly hair, so since I moved to CA from the East Coast it has been a nightmare to find a good salon that know how to deal with my hair!!!. Allie was so nice as well, she was the one that took care of applying the treatment (BB) and you can tell how knowledgeable she is about the subject... I couldn't be happier enough. Then Kim took care of the trim and style. To be quite honest I went in with NO expectations and by the time I left I was so happy! My hair looks fantastic, it looks healthy, shiny and most importantly it makes me feel great. If you have the time to visit them, please do so... you'll have no regrets. Short version: Alley B of Kimarge shines me up, and blows me out like no other. She masterfully works my mop into silky locks that would make Snoop Dogg pop his collar. For the rest of the gravy that makes Kimarge worth giving a day in court, read on... This salon experience was quite different from any I've had before. The first notable would be John, office manager extraordinaire. With his Scottish accent, and warm accommodating demeanor, he brings to mind the days of yore. The days when businesses cared about their customers and put forth the effort to ensure a positive experience. One example; he asked what type of drink I'd like to which I replied coke. To my utter astonishment, John left the premises to buy me a coke, as they were out. Had I known, I would've stopped him...but these gestures go along way with me. Alley Benson was the stylist I was lucky enough to get scheduled with. Besides being beautiful, she's quite real, never making me feel like I need to engage in mindless chitchat. I can just veg out, nose deep in magazine, and not worry that she'll think I'm rude. To the contrary, I feel like I've found a friend in Alley. Last but not least, the Brazilian Blowout that brought me and Kimarge together...for one, it's far gentler than it's competitors. Per Kimarge, it contains little to no formaldehyde. All I know is that I can't smell or feel anything dodgy. All in all, for that Brazilian above the neck, I gotta hand it to Kimarge. Price is right - Much more value than any other hugely expensive place I've seen (including New York, Boston, Palm Springs/Upper class). For $60.00 you get a value of $180.00 - $400.00 or more with their expertise and talent. If you want red carpet ready hair for next to nothing - this is the place. After visiting the Hollywood location - they did such a good job on my highlights/cut I only have to have them done once a year - they do such a great job - never see the roots! The beauty is show-stopping when they are done.The service is gracious and both places (One in Hollywood) are clean with pretty decor. As far as the neighborhood is concerned - they're both safe and look like anywhere else in Los Angeles - though parking is a little hard to find in the Hollywood location. Kim did my hair from the beginning - but her staff has Also done my hair with the same outcome - so after reading the negative reviews (hum...paid for by a competitor - as they are too similar in writing styles), I find them very hard to believe - Yelp having the difficult task of weeding out the fake - obviously some still get through. This review is long overdue, but I'm a procrastinator. What can I say? Kim is LEGIT. I know there's a giant string of one star reviews, but they aren't for Kim, who owns the salon, by the way. She listens to her clients. She's sweet. She's funny. She remembers you. She knows what she is doing when it comes to hair. She is the ONLY stylist I have come across in the past 5 years that I can trust with my bangs, and I won't even let anyone touch my hair anymore. I took off one star because it is a little difficult to get through sometimes over the phone. They do get extremely busy. But be persistent because it is so worth it. If there is anyone here who can complain about customer service, it's me. The first time I came in, they were running almost an hour late. But I rebooked because my hair looked so fabulous. The second time I came in, I actually called to confirm in the morning because Kim was heavily pregnant the last time I saw her. They said my evening appointment was still on. And lo and behold, she went into labor right before my appointment, meaning I had to wait for the other stylist to finish her appointment before I could get my cut. (Side note - it was Ally and she did a fantastic job. And I was happy to wait, because HELLO! Kim was about to have a baby!) So the fact that I will still rave about this salon and recommend her to friends continuously is a testament to how awesome she is. I've turned down deals for cheaper haircuts and even free haircuts because I am so happy with Kim's work. read more

I was a a scared hair virgin. I finally came to grips with the idea that I was going grey and at 32 years old- it was time to color my hair. My whole life the one thing I was in love with is my hair color- I was told never to dye it, that people are dying to have my color and if I change it that would be a sin. So with a heavy heart and no experience I put my self in the hands of this magical, artistic color genius- Kimberly! Who knew a groupon experience would be so satisfying?? She was very attentive, answering all my neurotic questions about how to care for my "new" hair and helped me bring down my anxiety very quickly. I sat in her chair and after a few minutes I knew I was in good hands. She decided she would "camoflage" my grey with highlights, adding more of my natural honey color in. She was meticulous as she weaved and painted my hair. It made me very calm that as she went on, she got "into the zone" of creativity. I felt like my head was a canvas and she the painter. I am also very meticulous about the way my hair is cut and I asked her to follow the style of my previous stylist (a woman who I have been going to in my home town for 20 years and who I keep going back to because she makes MAGIC with my hair every time). Kim read my mind 100%. She gave me exactly what I was hoping for and kept the integrity of my style and natural color absolutely! Later my boyfriend said he could only tell that I had cut my hair because my color still looked like me, only lighter and with no grey! Also, because I had a groupon I was worried about the price for next time I would come in but the figure Kimberly gave me was WAY beneath my expectation and quelled my other anxiety about having to incur a new major "maintenance" expense. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! What a world of relief! When it comes down to it, I just want to leave a salon feeling like my hair looks fabulous. I don't care if it was in Beverly Hills or in a salon with all the bells and whistles. If this is how she can keep the prices reasonable then I could care less how the shop is compared to expensive over done places. (This is a response to all those previous yelpers out there). If you want to pay extra for a few moments of over the top extravagance and a shitty cut then keep paying those "LA" prices. I actually adored the purple interior! I had a living social for a haircut, but trust me the service Kim gives you will be the best. I had pretty long hair and was bored of my look so dared myself for a complete new look with short hair. Even though it was my very first visit here, Kim made me feel like she and I knew each other for long.
