LOVED My bridal style and separate blowout!! After moving to LA this year, I kept driving back down to Orange County because I could not find anyone I trusted with my hair. I am very particular. On the morning of my courthouse ceremony, I finally decided to take a chance and booked with Lana Boquitas. I am so freaking glad I did because she ended up being exactly the person I had been looking for. Lana does not just style hair beautifully (even though her work always turns out amazing). She took the time to get to know me, understand my preferences, and figure out what I actually wanted and would feel beautiful in, even when I could not fully explain it. She has styled my hair for events, given me a great blowout (I went to their fun Blowouts & Bellinis event!), and helped me understand which tools and products work best for my personal hair. I would not recommend Hil based on our experience. I first reached out to Hil by text to schedule a "Brazilian straightening" treatment for my daughter. I also asked whether the products she uses contain formaldehyde. She told me she uses Brazilian Blowout Free, which she said is formaldehyde-free. According to the product's own FAQ on their website, the expected result is "smooth, frizz-free, shiny and easy-to-manage hair for up to 12 weeks." We paid $350 for the treatment. Afterward, Hil told my daughter to wait 3 days before washing her hair and to use sulfate-free shampoo. My daughter waited 4 days and followed the instructions exactly. When she washed and dried her hair, we were stunned to see zero difference between her hair before and after the treatment - the photos are essentially identical. I texted Hil the next morning to ask why my daughter's hair looked the same as before the treatment. Instead of trying to help, she responded in a very rude and dismissive way, insisting she had fully explained everything prior to service and saying my daughter needed to "blow dry her hair and she'll see a difference in frizz." At no point did Hil tell us that the $350 treatment would not straighten or smooth my daughter's hair at all or that the only effect would be less frizz after blow-drying. We expected straightened and smooth hair, or at least some visible improvement, but got none. Regardless of what Hil claims she communicated, the results simply weren't there, and the before-and-after pictures speak for themselves. The treatment was a total waste of money. I strongly recommend saving your $350 and going elsewhere. read more

It's light and airy, modern with beautiful plants all over the place. Really bright atmosphere and a chill place to relax and feel pampered in. My hairstylist, Sandra Ramirez, always greets me with a big smile and hug! She's very nurturing and has sweet energy. I always feel completely at ease and relaxed around her. She is very loving and completely professional. Not only does she do a fantastic job, she always takes the time to really listen to what I want and never rushes my hair cut. I've supported this business since it opened over 4 years ago, and am really disappointed to report such a negative experience with a newer hairstylist/colorist named Harrel Guetta that I took a chance on when he had no clients and had recently moved here. The owner said I should try him about 6 months ago and I was open since he shared he worked well with thick hair. He began dying my base color hair every 4-6 weeks. I started noticing that my hair color was slowly turning red in between base coloring every 4 weeks and started asking him about it but he either denied it was happening (unless I sent him pictures) or ignored my complaints and took offense to them personally. Unlike a normal professional hairstylist, who would work to correct, he became incredibly defensive. I know he left a salon prior in West Hollywood and spoke negative about it, which was a red flag. As his clientele grew, his arrogance grew with me. I texted him a few pictures of my hair color to ask what he thought was going on and joked that luckily "red is in", and he said he would take a look at it at our next appointment (I was going in every 4 weeks for root coverage and a haircut every 6-8 weeks, giving him consistent business). Today, the owner of the salon, Ashley, out of the blue, informed me that he no longer is taking me on as a client, via text. I asked her why she was informing me and not him, and she could not answer. I tried to call her and she didn't pick up my call. He could have called me himself but no hairstylist in their right mind would drop a client for bad work they did, it's bizarre. He stated multiple times how I have the top 1% thickest hair and how beautiful it is, compared to 99% of women with little hair, but it is a lot of extra work. Also, any chance he could get to slam others in the salon, he would. A young learning colorist named Cristal was doing my root coloring prior, and when he took over, he immediately told me "you look pale" and that Cristal "did not know how to do color" with a look of disgust on his face. Ashley did try to set me back up with Cristal, but how can I go back to her after Harrel said I looked horribly pale because she didn't get my hair tone correct. For 4+ years all stylists I went to have used a Dyson to dry my hair and when I asked him to please use a Dyson he responded in a very angry Tony saying there is no difference between a Dyson and the regular dryer he was using. Lastly, he shared that all the colorists in the salon use "cheap" color because it eats into the amount of money they end up making and boasted about how expensive his color was and only uses the best (to his credit my scalp never burned again when he applied color on me). He repeatedly spoke about how successful he was abroad with a thriving salon and celebrity clientele, so I trusted his credibility/work. Lastly, he raised his prices on me within a few months, to "match" others at the salon, which is unprofessional. We talked about prices in advance and all of my former hairstylists have grandfathered set prices as a form of customer loyalty. I understand increases over years, but a few months is outrageous. I visited The Salon for the first time since my hairstylist, Sandra, relocated here. I love the vibes! Clean, minimalist chic with easy and accessible parking. What can I say about Sandra, she is an angel! I randomly found her when I moved to Playa Del Rey in 2020 and I have been going to her ever since. She is kind, sweet, and of course, talented. I love that she really listens to what her clients want. She also isn't pushy--she makes recommendations for styles/products but NEVER makes you feel like the choice isn't yours. Recently, I decided to add layers which I don't normally do. She knew exactly what to do to make my curls POP! I don't know why I never did it before, but I have my full trust in her doing layers moving forward. Omgoodness so I'm so used crying/ hating/ regretting about 99% of my haircuts. On the rare 1% chace I find an great salon with an amazing hairstylist, and this was that 1% time! I told Ashley what I wanted and she cut my hair perfectly. I had the notorious grudgy, COVID hair and I was over it. When I first moved to LA 1.5 years ago I was very nervous about finding someone to takeover my blonde highlights as I had been with the same woman for 10+ years in my hometown and blonde highlights are very tricky and can easily go wrong. After hours of research I came across Ashley who worked at Fringe salon on Abbott Kinney Blvd. I immediately felt a connection with her and had a feeling I could trust her as soon as I met her, and I was right. Ashley has done an incredible job maintaining my highlights this past year and really listening to all my particular directions and hang ups. She is a great listener and even more important, a great soul to spend any amount of time with. When I heard she left to start her own salon I was ecstatic for her (and of course would follow her anywhere)!! She has so much experience and knowledge it was only a matter of time. Decided to walk in and take a chance at this salon in Venice. Talk about good hair Karma! Communication with Ziggy was easy. This is critical with hair people when you have a particular idea in mind. They need to get what you want and have the skills to deliver otherwise you're gonna be stuck with something different.. we have all had that awkward and sometimes awful hair drama. I haven't been happier with my hair in a long time. It looked so natural and the color was perfect for my skin tone. He is an expert in both color and cuts. You can also count on Ziggy to stay on top of trends so you never look dated! Even though I moved away, I'll still be visiting him in the summers because he is a delightful person and great conversationalist. I was going to Nader for 3 years at a different Venice studio before I relocated to the Bay Area. I can't speak highly enough. Nader is the best stylist I've ever had in my 36 years of life. His attention to detail is unparalleled. He cares about every strand of hair. He never cuts hair in a rush, always giving you as much time as your hair needs to make a fantastic cut. And my favorite thing of all is that he's really good, good person and easy and relaxed to talk to. When I first came to Venice I went to a barber shop where the barbers were much friendlier and chummy to each other than to me, a first time customer. When you're sitting in a chair for an hour with one person to interact with, you want to feel comfortable. With Nader you will. You can be silent the whole hour or talk the whole hour, all is simple, easy and comfortable. Nader even walked my fiancee through giving me a haircut during the Covid quarantine! Horrible experience at this salon . I went in for a root touch up and highlights. The stylist was sloppy. I left with black hair on my crown (not even close to my natural root color!) It seems she started the highlights from my earlobes down. It cost me more then my monthly health insurance premium to have this mess corrected elsewhere. read more

I recently received "an emergency" treatment/blow dry from this place - Audrey specifically. I've been impressed. The response TEXT from the salon owner was practically immediate and when I arrived Audrey was right there to take care of my needs.
