First off they couldn't give me a straight answer about their pricing. I asked, VERY CLEARLY, several times how much a manicure and pedicure was. They said $75. That was for the "deluxe". I said I wanted just a basic. After some back and forth and two other prices, She told me it would be $30. I said ok. I got to the counter after and suddenly it was $55. I clearly, succinctly, asked more than ounce for the price of both. She told me the price she quoted was just for the pedicure. Not my question. But the worst part of the experience?? DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS NAIL SALON! I received a colored acrylic fill-in 3/19 which reportedly last 3-4 weeks. By 3/24, one of the nails was lifting. By 3/26, a second nail started lifting and this one was even worse and I planned to revisit the salon on Saturday, 3/29 due to my hectic work/life schedule. However, by 3/28 the entire acrylic nail popped off on a 3rd finger. So yeah, I arrived to this salon 3/28 around 10am and I explained what happened. I was told to take a seat and one of the nail technicians proceeded to take off the lifting nails and filed down the acrylic around the cuticles of the other 7 fingers. Once done, she said that my total would be $60 for her to repair my 3 nails and do a fill-in (mind you I had just paid for a fill-in 3/19). I explained that I would not be paying for anything as my return to the nail salon within 1 week was a result of them using a poor quality product on my nails 3/19. She then called a male over (who I think is the owners Brother in law) who concurred with the decision to charge me $60 for the nail salon to fix their mess up. Due to beginning to feel uncomfortable, I just requested for them to fix the (3) nails so that I could leave! I should've written this review long ago but life happens. I visited this establishment back in March 2023. I will say the staff was very pleasant but the manager/owner. I believe her name to be Kim was very pushy and constantly asked me about adding additional services while I was getting my nails done I allowed her to do my eyebrows because I needed them done so I got waxing and tinting not only did she use hot wax without letting it cool for she burn the skin off my eyebrows see photos attached the tenting did not last at all Very poorly done. In addition, my nails were terrible. I was told that I couldn't get a certain shape because of my nail bed have never been told that before I've never had an issue with getting my nails shape the way I would like them if you look at the photo attached, you can see that my nails were very wide and blocky. Kims Nails LOVES rough, unhygenic service. I came in for gel on my toes. The nail tech never washed her hands or put on gloves. She began to drill the old polish on my toes and was carelessly going over my nailbed onto the skin of my toes. Shortly after, a young lady came in for an eyebrow wax. The nail tech left me, DID NOT WASH HER HANDS OR USING GLOVES, and went over to touch the young lady's face and eyebrows. She comes back to me without washing her hands and does a horrible job cutting my nails. I asked for square round and she did whatever she wanted. The polish looks sloppy as it got on my skin and is very uneven. To make matters worse, she DID NOT use sanitary tools on me. I've been going to this shop for years. I had one person working on my feet that was rushing to finish since they had a growing crowd. He injured my cuticles with the electric nail file. The other nail tech working on my manicure kept trying to upsell me to spend more money. All I wanted was gel polish on my hands and feet. My polish started chipping after a week. Absolute worst nails I've had in a while. Everything was rushed. The pedicure wasn't bad but it was rushed too. She only put on one coat of nude acrylic over a fillin from somewhere else. You could clearly see the line where my old mail stopped and I had to tell her to fix it. Fill in was $45....I don't mind paying for good work but this was absolutely awful. This place deserves a zero after today! I've been coming to this nail shop for over 10 years. I admit they don't have the best customer service, especially when the owner is not there but some of the nail techs do really good nails. I sat for about 25 minutes waiting for a nail tech to become available and when one did she took another walk in before me ( I'm assuming that she does the lady's nails often because they spoke to each when she walked in). No she did not have an appointment, I asked. I guess the nail tech saw the look on my face so tells me another nail tech will be available in about 5 minutes. I asked why she couldn't do my nails since I was here before the other walk in and she told me "if I take you then she is going to have to wait longer." I was in so much disbelief that I just left. Not good at all. I spent more money on a delux pedicure only for them to not do the massage they said that they do and to walk right back in and have my toes redone. WARNING: BE WARY OF PAYING WITH A CREDIT/DEBIT CARD HERE. I've been to Kim's Nails twice. The first time being in June of 2012 and the second time the last Saturday of November 2012. I received a pedicure both times and my girlfriend got a pedicure the first time and a pedicure, manicure, and her eyebrows done the second time. Overall the quality of their work is so-so, however their service is definitely sub par. The second time we arrived, the salon was practically empty with only one person being seen and one person waiting up front. There were about 4 employees in total that I saw, with 1 working on the aforementioned guest. We stood near the cash register/desk up front to be seen and it took a little longer than 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge our presence in the empty shop. The other 3 employees seemed to be carrying on about their own business, chatting and looking up at the television. Once again, the services rendered were so-so at best, about mediocre to be descriptive. I finished first because I only got a pedicure. I went up to pay for both my girlfriend and myself. Standing at the cash register for about another 5 minutes in an empty shop until someone came to assist me. WARNING: BE WARY OF PAYING WITH A CREDIT/DEBIT CARD HERE. I paid with my debit card. The woman told me that the total came to $53 and some change. The woman assisting me swiped my card and said that the transaction did not go through. She called over another woman and then left the store on break. The next woman told me that the first balance was incorrect and that my total was actually $57 and some change and proceeded to swipe my card. I then tipped each of the employees, the woman giving me my pedicure and the guy working on my girlfriend a $10 tip each. A generous tip considering that my pedicure was only $20, so that's 50%. A few days later I checked my debit card statement and saw that I had been charged twice. Once for the $53 and change, that I was told did not go through, and once for the $57 and change. I then called up to the store and spoke with a male employee that informed me to bring my debit card statement in the following day so he could see the charges and I would be refunded my money. The following day I took my statement up to the store and spoke with another male and female employee. I informed them of the situation, told them I called the other day and spoke with someone who told me to bring my card statement up which I did and handed to them, highlighting the transaction. I was told that they didn't know about this and if I left my number with the statement that the owner would contact me the next day. The next day came and I received no telephone contact from anyone from the nail salon. The following day I called again and spoke to a female employee, who told me she was the manager, and explained my situation yet again and told her that I left my statement there as instructed and received no phone call from the owner. She told me that she was heading to the bank tomorrow and would look at the statement and give me a call the next day. I never received a phone call from her or anyone else from Kim's Nail Salon, let alone an apology for the mix up. Needless to say I am not pinching pennies here and I am not worried about the amount of money, just the business principle of the owner and employees of the establishment when I brought a customer issue to them on MULTIPLE occasions with PROOF that they had made an error. They did nothing to correct it, contact me as they promised, or even offered an apology. Throwing money away is not a hobby of mines and I do not intend to make it one. I will not be back to this establishment ever again and will inform others of the same. If you do go here then please either pay with cash or double check your bank statements after you pay. I do not know if this was an honest mistake made by an employee or a scam done by this business/employee. Either way, no contact or further assistance was done to correct the problem nor was an apology offered. WARNING: BE WARY OF PAYING WITH A CREDIT/DEBIT CARD HERE. I went to Kim's today out of conveniences because my regular technician was on vacation. I wanted to get individual eyelashes. The technician at Kim's did my eyelashes in about 5 to 10 minutes. I really don't think it was a full 10. It has never taken less than 20 minutes to get my.lashes done other places. Her work was sloppy, uneven, and amateur. I did not like how it looked at all. She said she would do whatever she could to make it better. I asked for them to look fuller and she added about 2 more individuals, which of course didn't do anything. To top it off, at the end I was ready to walk out because the service was over. She left little black sticky spots all over my face. She didn't even attempt to hand me a towel wipe it off. She was willing to let me walk out with black marks running down both sides of my face. I've had these on my face before but never this many. I could not get them off and had to retreat to the restroom where I attempted to scrub them off, which removed all my makeup. I was so embarrassed and frustrated. I told her I wasn't happy at the counter but she swiped my card anyway. IF U OWN A SALON WOMAN ARE COMING IN TO RELAX AND MAKE THEMSELVES LOOK MORE APPEALING. I want to give 5 stars for the lashes, I'm not sure but I think the woman that did my lashes was the owner, she was kind & professional. My lashes are very light & natural looking, not heavy on my eyelids, I'd recommend them & will definitely be back FOR LASHES. As far as my nail experience??..for a full set I wanted a Tye-Dye acrylic powder design, the nail tech stated she couldn't do that, ok fine. I told her give me a small full set, clear/pink polish, Do you know she TRIED to charge me $55 for that??. I went to this salon with a friend on my birthday. I wanted my feet and nails done. My son wanted a manicure and my friend wanted a fill in and a pedicure. The person who did my feet wet me up completely with the water hose. They kept trying to up sale everything to us. So I decided to get my lashes done. The lash tech was aggressive and used entirely to much lash glue. Now my lashes are super thin...ugh please spare yourself dont vist this place. I'm done with this shop! I partly blame myself, because I should've been supporting a black owned shop in the first place, but my laziness and the fact that I was rushing made me go to Kim's. I was the first customer, so as soon as the first employee arrived, she started my feet right away. While I was being serviced, a group of 4 (adult black female and 3 teenage black girls) came in and were told to write their name and number down and would receive a call when they were ready for them. About 10 minutes later, another black woman came in and was also told to write down her name and number and would receive a call when they were ready for her. Another 10 minutes or so goes by, an older white woman walks in, states that she would like to get mani/pedi/eyebrows. SHE WAS TOLD TO GO WASH HER HANDS AND HAVE A SEAT IN AN EMPTY CHAIR. No wait! Five black customers were turned away! FIVE!! When the group of 4 came back, I told them what had happened and they left right away. I caught another black woman coming in when i was on my way out, also told her and she left. Again, I blame myself because I shouldn't have been supporting them in the first place but maybe something told me to go so I could witness that and call them out on their $h!t. I went in just to get a manicure and polish nothing special and either the girl put on to many coats or the polish was just old but my polish never fully dried even after sitting for 20 minuets at the salon. Also while she was putting on my clear coat she messed up my polish on a few fingers because she didn't allow it long enough to dry.
