On a warm Annapolis day, I enjoyed a small cup of Sea Salt Chocolate Caramel. It was one of the best ice cream flavors I've ever had, made up of chocolate ice cream with swirls of choco and salted caramel candies. It wasn't freezing cold like most ice creams, and began melting pretty quickly. I don't know if this was intentional, but the ice cream texture was perfect and the flavor was enhanced. Well worth the $7 plus tip. Kilwins is a chain all over the US, primarily in the midwest and the south. Perhaps they should open some stores out west. read more

Was hanging out in Annapolis with the family and some friends and was drawn in by the smell of the folks at Kilwin making fresh waffle cones. When I walked in they were making fresh candy apples on the left, rows of different types of fudge on the right and homemade ice cream in the back. My oldest got some fudge and my youngest and I got ice cream (cookies and cream for her and peach for me). I normally am not into ice cream when it's chilly outside but this was goooood! The smell of the waffle cones being made is what drew us to this shop! I don't know how the workers can handle the sweetest every day haha. It was very well organized despite having loads of people inside. The service was absolutely amazing for being such a busy store, the girl was patient and sweet despite us asking for samples upon samples. They give BIG scoops, very filling. They have dairy and non dairy options. I got the raspberry sorbet which was good (in moderation). Only con was that the caramel apple was a bit lacking, the girl cut it up for us but the caramel was very gooey so it was hard to eat (we like ours a bit harder). The ice cream here is so good. It was a hot day out and my friend and I stopped here for some ice cream. It had been a while since I've been here so it was the perfect cool me down treat to indulge in. The staff greeted us and let us sample some flavors. I ended up getting the Caramel in a single scoop. It was creamy and thick. A perfect way to cool down out in the sun. They also sell some great fudge and apples dipped in different sauces. I have a tree nut allergy and was worried because I didn't see any labels on the display case for ice creams that contained nuts or nut oils (they do make some with peanut oil). Declan (sorry if this is not spelled correctly), was sure to tell me which ice creams had nut oils even if it wasn't listed on the display and also was proactive in getting a sanitary scoop for me. I understand this is the right protocol but you'd be surprised how often it does NOT happen. I have to ask a ton of questions, usually, but not this time! He walked me through each flavor I considered and steered me in the right direction. And the chocolate fudge ice cream was great!! I ended up getting a double scoop cup of cookies n cream & vanilla for $8.75. The vanilla was creamy & decent and the cookies n cream was alright. The ice cream isn't anything special or amazing, it's just alright for the most part. The prices for the ice cream are definitely on the more expensive side. We decided to try this place after a Navy football game so it was super crowded. Although crowded, the service was great. The serving size is huge so a bowl can be split between 2 people. I scream, you scream, I just want ice cream! At least, that's how I remember it. I noticed the Kiwins ice cream shop on the way to Tarin Thai cuisine for lunch and made a mental note to make a stop here on the way out of Annapolis, Maryland. Kiwins was your stereotypical ice cream shop that seems to be the alternatives to your Baskin Robbins and Cold Stone Creamery. While I do not know if Kiwins is a national brand or not, I didn't really know. I just wanted ice cream for dessert after having Thai food for lunch. The experience here at Kiwins ice cream parlor was an interesting one and that i can remember vividly. I can thank the staff for making it work. I think I was here for about 10 minutes from entering the store to paying. The initial shock was when I learned that they did not serve pints of ice cream, like the other guys. Literally shocked! They had quarts in the freezer in store but other than that, they sold ice cream by small cups. I wanted something I could take with me and have it at the airport while waiting for my flight. Initially, the lady who was waiting on me looked like she was still in high school. And then, I noticed a sizable container that could be used for a pint of ice cream. I was told that it was used for a large cup of coffee. I was like that'll work. Carrying a large coffee cup that was holding ice cream was new to me at the time, but it worked! The quart was too much and the small ice cream cups didn't work for me but the large coffee cup was the ideal magic I needed. It was spectacular I tell ya! It was cool to see that she packed that Coffee cup with some reckless abandon and charged me however amount it could hold. Paid $11 for a sizable amount that was around the size of a pint and I got what I wanted here. I was definitely happy and hopefully if you're here too and want something in between a cup and a quart, consider using the large coffee cup as your to-go pint. Thankful that the lady behind the counter made it work and charged me accordingly. The overall experience here at Kiwins ice cream shop was great and casual. I opted for the plain chocolate, which is usually what i normally get anyway. The chocolate ice cream was soothing and delicious. Definitely can't go wrong with chocolate for sure! For the most part though, I thought that the ingenuity of the lady behind the counter with the coffee cup was immeasurable. Loved the fact that she could do what she could with the large coffee cup instead of saying sorry, that's for coffee purchases only. Thankful and awesome that she was able to do that. They have a small section for patrons to sit and enjoy their purchase. With that said, if you are in or passing thru Annapolis, Maryland and craving ice cream or something sweet, consider coming here to Kiwins ice cream shop. Might just be the highlight of your day. It was to me. Happy that I stopped by here on the way out of Annapolis, Maryland. You'd genuinely would be too. This Kiwins Ice cream shop is located at 100 Main Street in Annapolis, Maryland. It's basically on the main drag of Main Street, near to the Maryland's state capitol and the United States Naval Academy campus. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. Perfect for us who are on the go or passing by. As far as parking goes, best thing to do is find street parking where you can find it. We got lucky and found a space practically in front of the store, which was pretty awesome! Then again, it was a Sunday. Helps to get here early enough to secure a parking spot. Not sure if Annapolis has a Local bus system or not, but it would help if they did, so you can get here for your daily fix. I did see a free downtown shuttle pass by while i was there, so that could be something too. Come on by to get your ice cream fix, if you're in the area. Their blueberry waffle ice cream WAS AMAZINGGG I ordered one scoop half toasted coconut flavor and half blueberry waffle flavor (they charge an extra $1 for 2 flavors in 1 scoop) and NO REGRETS. The toasted coconut was good since it had little bits inside but the blueberry waffle was even better. It's basically broken up chocolate dipped waffle bits throughout blueberry ice cream.
