I have lived here for 5 years and this place is consistently perfect. Clean, friendly and efficient. The ice cream is delicious and never freezer burnt. There is sometimes a long line, but thats just a testament to how popular Cold Penguin is. A favorite among locals and tourists alike. read more

The ice cream here is usually pretty good, they always have a variety of flavors. Mannnn today I tried a flavor that I will not forget! Cookie Monster Caramel... my favorite one so far. I layered it with banana pudding on top. Then I walked the nearby boardwalk for an hour to try and walk some of it off . Service was fast and friendly. They also have toppings for an extra charge if that's your thing. The place is kind of small and there is minimal seating inside, but plenty of outdoor seating right outside on the covered porch or nearby boardwalk bench if you choose! read more

They offer several good flavors but didn't find my two favorites. Very expensive!!! Prices keep increasing each time we go (??)

The "graham central station" ice cream is so good. Got one scoop of that with brownie pieces mixed in.

Love this Ice Cream Shop - Staff is very friendly and the var of flavors are outstanding

A small shop selling Hershey ice cream over the counter. No tables. Not much room inside. Prices are reasonable. read more

Cold Penguin Ice Cream - The counter - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - North Beach, Maryland

Saw a bunch of people coming out of here happily licking their ice cream cones so we followed in their example! Solid ice cream place serving Hershey's ice cream. The scoops are generous for the price (less than $3 for a huge single scoop) and they let you put 2-3 flavors even in one scoop! I almost wished I had shared my single scoop with a friend but it was very good so I was also glad not to! Our group loved the oatmeal cookie flavor which was very much like all the best parts of an oatmeal raisin cookie, and almost all of us got that flavor. I split my single scoop between the oatmeal and Cappuccino Chip which had large chocolate chunks in it! The scooper was also very nice and helpful and was happy to recommend flavors and let us take our time and try different flavors. Great ice cream spot for your beach day! read more

Cold Penguin Ice Cream - a cup of ice cream - Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt Near Me - North Beach, Maryland

Awesome food at a fair price always fresh always delicious and can customize most dishes

We love this place. Great hours, staff is always friendly. Decent prices compared to other places and convenient to walking around and enjoying the area. read more

I just wanted to get some ice cream. They had the door locked while the place was still open and completely ignored me. It just felt really uncomfortable and pretty stupid honestly. read more

I was absolutely disgusted at mg experience here. I didn't really like an ice cream that I received. They told me I could taste it from the cup they had given me and if I didn't like it they would dump it back into the rest of the ice cream tub they got it from. When I asked her to repeat herself she did and I told her how nasty, especially during COVID, that was. She got loud with me and said how there was nothing wrong with that policy. I tried to explain how that was unsanitary and again she said there was nothing wrong with it if I hadn't physically touched the ice cream in the cup. Needless to say I'll never come back again. read more

I love the kids that work the counter ! They are always so helpful and patient with my grandkids trying to decide what they want ! it is a ritual to go there every time they come to town . Ohhh and the ice cream is great ! read more

Amazing and great local ice cream shop in North Beach. My brother and sister in law were visiting from Utah and they discovered the Cappuccino Crunch, delish. We had to go back a second time to make sure we got our fill of it before they left. They are still talking about it a month later. read more

There's not too much to compare to in the area but Cold Penguin still stands out. The ladies working here are always so friendly and every time I've gotten ice cream here they always make an effort to have a friendly conversation. It's a down home shop that's in a perfect spot for the boardwalk and beach goers. They don't have the gazillion flavors, but the ones they do are super delicious. The nice loungers out front on the deck on hot days is a nice way to enjoy your cone. So coming by here is all you really need to put a smile on your face. read more

Good food. Good service. A bit crowded but that is typical for the area. Well recommended.

One of my favorite places to go to when I visit Chesapeake Bay Area. They have the best ice cream and it's not to expensive. Definitely recommend if your in the area. read more

They have good ice cream and many flavors. The place is small and prepare to wait in line

Great service! Nice sized scoops and very economical! Unique flavor combinations and perfect for a hot summer day

The nice woman running this place had just closed the doors when our family thought "hey, lets get some ice cream!" We were all geared up to be disappointed but when we went up to the door to check the hours, she waved us all in! I got the coconut ice cream and followed my husband's lead and got 2 scoops thinking they would be like normal scoops...WRONG! They were HUGE scoops! I couldn't even come close to finishing it but I was in ice cream heaven. My family got a myriad of other flavors and they said they were all very good too. Thanks to this place for staying open for us, having loads of options, and decent pricing! read more

Your basic ice cream shop...no paddles to mush your gummy bears into the ice cream, but trust me, they taste fine sprinkled on top. They have two cases of hand dipped Hershey's ice cream and also offer milkshakes, sundaes, and smoothies. I had a small cup of Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie which was cinnamon ice cream swirled with caramel, oatmeal cookie pieces and chocolate chips. It was really good! My hubby had some sort of brownie batter flavor as a milkshake. It turned out a little over milked...not thick at all...but he claim to like it that way. I think it's just because he's not one to complain. This little shop is located right off the North Beach boardwalk so it's a prime location to attract summer patrons. We took our ice cream on a stroll by the water. I will return. read more

The young guys and gals working in this little place work so hard and are always so friendly. We love the way the banana split is made and their dairy free selection is very enjoyable! read more

still the best tasting and priced place in the Beach! I can't have dairy anymore but highly recommend the Oatmazing Cookies and Cream

This is a little mom & pop establishment just off the boardwalk in North Beach. The ice cream is legit; on my visit, they had run out of cookies and cream (my go to), so I tried the oatmeal cookie. My only real complaint is that they do not do milkshakes. Your choices are pretty much limited to cone or cup. read more

Ice Cream was good, but service was a true disappointment. The gal helping us had no personality and really just soured us on the whole place... read more

Our ice cream was very good! But the girl behind the counter was rude and acted like we were bothering her by being there. The waffle cone was a bit stale but again, it was the girl behind the counters attitude that ruined the experience. read more

Excellent eatery right near the Bay. The choices of ice cream flavors is extensive and I've loved every one of them. It may get busy in summer but it's worth the wait. Prices are reasonable. read more

Great place ! Who doesn't love Ice cream or milkshakes after a lovely walk on the boardwalk or day relaxing at the beach. They also have doggy ice cream for god furry family members as well! read more

Three words: Puppy Ice Cream. Okay, perhaps I should clarify, it's ice cream for dogs.. not a flavor. Awkward. My puppy loves to take a long walk on the boardwalk then grab a little cup of beef flavored puppy ice cream. The staff is always friendly and the owner's are great from what I know of them. I've had very pleasant experiences here. Oh and they have great people ice cream too! read more

Cool little ice cream shop right by the beach. Decent variety of Hershey's flavors. Single scoops on cones were huge and more than enough.

Good, run of the mill (Hersheys) ice cream , close to the beach, & very nice service.

To think I drove PAST Dairy Freeze to get some of the BEST Red Velvet ice cream I've ever tasted only to be ignored to help the customer behind me when I was there first! Please know I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again! And the sad part is she looked me right in my face, but took him first.....guess I wasn't the right color for her to help! read more

Their ice cream was good! We felt a bit rushed when trying to decide on what we wanted (we were the only ones in the store). I had the Caramel/Oreo Cheesecake ice cream with a Mango Madness smoothie. The smoothie was perfect from being out in the heat all day. read more

Very good ice cream! The shop is small, could use a sitting area but we had fun sitting outside on the four chairs that were there. It was the perfect ice cream shop for a beach town, no bells and whistles but a good fit for the town and most importantly, the ice cream was well priced and simply delicious! read more

Always had great service and great ice cream. The cap'n crunch peanut butter shake was amazing.

Only decent place in Chesapeake Beach. Delicious ice cream, cute and friendly staff. 10/10 would recommend Cold Penguin Ice Cream. However, 0/10 would not recommend visiting Chesapeake Beach. Beach of lies. There is no beach. read more

It's so nice to have a good ice cream shop in town. We come here regularly. The shop carries Hershey's ice cream, which we think is even better than Baskin-Robins. I'm going by memory here, but I think this shop has about 24 flavors or so. The staff is primarily comprised high school kids--or maybe just out of school--so it's always patently obvious that there's somewhere else they'd rather be. (They aren't yet seasoned enough to fake it, as is generally required in the service industry.) So their little tip jar ends up a little neglected when we visit. But all in all this is a good little place to get ice cream. read more
