Such a cute place with lots of options. Got a pb shake. It was super yummy. Lots of ribbons of peanut butter which made it so tasty and texturally pleasing too. The young women behind the counter were super nice and friendly. I was watching them train a meep employee and they were doing a great job of communicating and modeling the how tos of their job. A decent amount of hand scooped ice creams and some random pre packaged ice cream treats for purchase. The only kicker- it's 2022 and they are still cash only. Yes there's an ATM on site but gone are the days of even carrying a bank card, it's all about Apple Pay and Southwest credit cards. This place has THE BEST snowballs! They have the perfect ice to syrup consistency and are reasonably priced. I love that they have tons of flavors and continue to add more each summer. At the beginning of the coronavirus era, I had an idea. My favorite local snowball stand was not open. And, a Baltimore girl cannot survive summer without her snowballs. So, my boyfriend and I went on a date to Kavern where we purchased our favorite flavors in bulk. We bought a snowball machine online and slurped snowballs all summer. This was a hit for family and friends too; we had snowballs for dessert every chance we got. I must agree with my brother that Kavern has the best flavors and we usually only go to snowball stands that serve Kavern flavors. Kavern will ship flavors to your home, but I like to visit their store in Highlandtown. It's tucked away on a dead-end road in an industrial area of East Baltimore. If you are a fan of the grit in Baltimore, stumbling upon quirky spots that make our city unique, you will get a kick out of this shop where you'll see icecream trucks parked outside and vendors darting in and out of Kavern to replenish their supplies. One word of caution: the Kavern staff and its patrons were not wearing masks when I visited months ago. I wore a mask and I encourage you to do the same. Enjoy! read more

Best snowballs in the Pasadena-Severna Park-Arnold area! I have been going to Kavern since I was in elementary school. They have the best shaved ice, and the best flavors. Plus they offer cream, marshamallow, and chocolate toppings.....as well as an option to make your dessert a sno-shake?! Whatever that is. I am not very adventurous, so I opt for an Old Fashioned Egg Custard every time. I would definitely suggest you try it....but they have about a million flavors. I wish I was brave enough to try Pokemon, but I am not. This is also my favorite place to grab a Malt. Who even serves Malted Milkshakes anymore? 1960s soda shoppes?? So delicious. This is my absolute favorite snowball destination, and has been since I was a kid. Sure, there are stands on every corner that are way more convenient, but I make the drive to this place anyway (otherwise, if I'm in a rush, the Hawaiian stand in Glen Burnie is ace as far as stands go). It'd make sense that it'd be great; Kavern is the company that snowball stands usually get their supplies from. Still, they offer a list of flavors that eclipses any snowball stand, along with a few fabulous toppings. It's one drawback used to be the lack of acceptance for debit/credit cards, but now they do accept them, score! They have a cute little indoor seating area, as well as a nice, tree-shaded outside area. The staff is polite and patient when you're mulling over your choice, and they also offer ice cream! read more

Horrible customer service! I have been a loyal and happy customer until today,and will never go back. I came in with my children for ice cream and snowballs. $17 was my total bill. My 4 year old didn't like her ice cream so I went up to get her a snowball, didn't complain about the ice cream, just threw it away ... no biggie. Sadly I didn't have cash on me, always pay with a credit card, like I did with the first purchase. She said she couldn't except my credit card as way of payment there was a $5 minimum purchase even though I just paid $17 . She took the snowball away and said I couldn't purchase it unless I had cash. My 4 year old was in tears and I left a very unhappy customer and will never come back. read more
