Probably to clean the equipment and refresh the supplies. So although I did wait a long time on a very hot day I can't say it was because of bad service. The staff was actually pretty nice and kept apologizing for the wait. Prices are average. They offer custom made syrups which I will try on the next trip. This trip was to get the rainbow that I saw in TikTok. The snow ball itself was really big. What I didn't like was the container. Although it was perfect to display my rainbow, I feel like it wasn't big enough to hold the contents. And my snowball melted fast so it was a little soupy in the bowl. Silver lining is that the container is eco friendly. Parking is difficult here. There is a tiny lot but only 5 cars can fit at once and it seems tightbto get in and out of there. I did get lucky and found street parking very close. But if all else fails, there is a parking lot across the street if you don't mind paying or plan to be in the area a while.

Their shaved ice is like a fine snow that almost evaporates on the tongue, leaving a huge burst of tasty tasty flavor. And speaking of flavors, you won't find the rainbow assortment here. Honey's has less than a dozen, I'd wager. But in addition to the usual standbys, they have several "organic" flavors, made with cane sugar and natural flavors. I actually broke with personal long-standing tradition and passed up blue raspberry for the organic peach flavor, and boy howdy was I rewarded. Major peach punch-the-face with evaporating snow iciness. Delicious. Add to that, the cutest food truck ever, although you probably shouldn't call it a truck. Honey's is a bright yellow converted Bajaj auto-rickshaw. Easy to spot, but if you're not sure, look for the fat man running after it like a kid to the ice cream truck. That would be me. We have so-called shave ice here in Boston but it's not like Ono Wai's. These are served with ice cream at the bottom - YUM- and a drizzle of sweet cream on top! It's like 2 desserts in one because by the time you get to the bottom, the flavored ice made the ice cream frosty and sweet - like a creamsicle- but better! The hardest part of ordering this little cup of heaven is choosing the flavors - they have 25 - and apparently they are imported from Hawaii. Thankfully, my family ordered different flavors so I was able to try a variety. They were all rich and flavorful. I'll be back Ono Wai - I'll be back!

The owner (maybe operator) seems to think he can park anywhere, any time in his van as well as go out the exit to make an illegal left turn. He'll look at you like you're inconveniencing him when you are waiting on him to turn left so you can turn right, as you're supposed to. The truck showed up with a broken blade. They had no replacement in the truck and the replacement didn't show up until 47 minutes into our 1 hour party, and the ice machine was not operational until 51 minutes into our 1 hour party. By that time more than half our guests had departed without receiving the Kona ice, and the few who remained had been waiting for nearly an hour. The driver/operator was nice and professional throughout, but then the company expected me to pay the full price. Chris, an owner/operator, called and became combative on the phone, stating that they had "fixed" the situation and had provided the service we had agreed to. We agreed to one hour of service from 12-1pm, and received nine minutes of service in that time window (12:51-1:00pm) for the roughly 1/3 of our guests who waited around that long. The truck stayed longer, but the party was over at that time. Unacceptable service, made doubly so by the "demand" that we pay for a service we did not receive as agreed upon.
